Vehicle Detail
1993 Toyota Land Cruiser- NO RESERVE Blue slate metallic This has been my Land Cruiser since new. It has seen me through snow storms, ice storms, hurricanes and rain storms. It has hauled trailer loads of everything imaginable—dirt, firewood, mulch, motorcycles, furniture and even my 1977 FJ40. It has never let me down. I have done all the maintenance on it myself. There has been a lot of routine maintenance in 20 years and 271,000 miles. Everything from brakes and rotors (many times) to exhaust system (amazingly only once) to radiator and water pump. I replaced the shocks a while back and installed Bilsteins which are still doing great. I replaced the exhaust system, including the catalytic converters in November 2005, using all OEM Toyota parts. The oil has been changed regularly using Castrol GTX since new. There is no smoke visible, but it does use about a quart ever 1,500 miles or so. The engine has never been opened and neither has the transmission or transfer case. I have replaced the steering rods and tie rods a couple of times and I even replaced the Birfields a while back. The alternator is original, but I replaced the starter. For the most part this Land Cruiser is Toyota reliable and the frame and body seem as if they could last forever. Don’t get me wrong, this is no cream puff. It has been used hard and has the marks to show it. It has never been in a car on car accident, but two deer have made the fatal mistake of running in front of it. The Land Cruiser is one of the best vehicles you could ever want to hit a deer with. The grill breaks and the hood gets dented and the radiator leaks. But I still made it home. In fairness, I will attempt to list the known flaws with this Land Cruiser. Most of these can be seen in the photos: The interior is well worn and could use a good shampoo. My dogs have loved it over the years, but have taken their toll in hair and dirt. The driver’s seat leather is well worn, especially on the left bolster The left rear seat has duct tape on the seat cushion due to a leaky battery that was placed on the seat by my daughter. The left rear seat release has jammed or broken so it doesn’t fold forward the way it should. The carpet on the inside of the tailgate is worn- it takes a beating on all Land Cruisers. The rear cargo area carpet isn’t too bad because I have always had a WeatherTech Cargo Liner back there. It’s still there. There is a small chip in the windshield, in the driver’s sight line. The windshield was replaced not long ago and is in very good condition otherwise. The exterior of the upper rear hatch has a little rust and the bottom right corner is slightly bent. There are a couple of small rust spots on the front edge of the hood. There is a scratch on the left side door that could be rubbed-out I think. There is some paint rubbed-off of the right front fender flare The chrome trim strip on the top of the front bumper needs a few plastic clips to hold it in place better. The running boards have some rust along the edges. One of the rear mud flaps is missing. The driver’s side mirror glass shakes- I usually stuff a napkin along the bottom edge which steadies it. The speedo needle sticks occasionally, but the odometer keeps recording- lately the needle has been fine Here are some additional features of this Land Cruiser: ABS Brakes Glass moonroof There is a Sony aftermarket radio and single disk CD player Leather seats- these were dealer added when I bought the Land Cruiser Roof rack Tow hitch Running boards Bilstein shocks OE type Michelin tires- decent thread OEM security system Third row fold down seats (not shown)- little used I have included the original window sticker from when I bought the Land Cruiser. To sum it up, it’s still a great vehicle. It starts, it runs, it stops and it turns. There is no other vehicle that is better in the snow or rain. It has the center locking differential, but did not come with the locking front and rear differentials. Why am I selling it? My wife says I have too many cars and this one has to go. Otherwise I have to get rid of my 77 FJ40, and I won’t do that. Remember, this is a NO RESERVE auction, so you have a chance of winning the auction, right from the get go. Good luck.
