Vehicle Detail
2003 Volkswagen Jetta GLS Sedan Engine: Gasoline 2.0 Liter Transmission: Automatic This is a very nice car for the money. The hood and front fenders have some chips in the paint as you can see in the pictures. But a little paint on the hood and front fenders and this car would look almost new. The windshield has a crack in the bottom on the driver’s side near the inspection sticker but it does not obstruct your vision. The interior is in very good shape except for the headliner. The headliner has pulled away from the edge above the driver’s side door and sagging a little in the front between the visors. The passenger seat has two small punctures in it and the driver’s side rear seat has about a 3” scratch on it. The center armrest lid hinge is broken (which is common on Jettas). Other than that the interior is good. It has never been smoked in. The headliner can be easily and inexpensively repaired with some spray adhesive or could be replaced if someone wanted to. All doors are tight with no wind noise. The sunroof works great and is tight with no leaks. All windows, locks, gauges, heater, air conditioner, sunroof, etc. work like they should. I don’t know of anything on this car that does not work. It also has a very nice Monsoon stereo system. History and Repairs: I purchased the car in Sept of 2008 for my wife to commute to work and back. It had about 41,200 on it when I purchased it. It had been in an accident and professionally repaired/rebuilt prior to me buying it. See title information below. It now has approximately 166,750 miles on it and all have been virtually trouble free since we have had it. All 4 tires are a little less than a year old. The invoice for the tires is in the glove box. The timing belt, tensioner pulley, and water pump were replaced at about 100,000 miles. Replacing the timing belt around this mileage is normal maintenance recommeded by Volkswagen on the 2.0 engine. The old water pump was fine but it was replaced just as a good measure and because it is easy to do while replacing the timing belt. The front bumper cover, air dam, radiator support, radiator, radiator fans, all splash shields, A/C condenser and related parts are all brand new. My wife ran over a large raccoon recently causing damage to these parts but it did not cause any other damage to the car. The brake pads are all in good shape. I know I have replaced them but I don’t remember when but they look like they have a lot of life left in them. I have always used full synthetic motor oil and changed it about every 5,000 to 6,000 miles. There are no warning lights illuminated on the dash. The engine temperature runs at 190 degrees as it should, even on the hottest days. The A/C works great. This is a very good car mechanically and should go many, many more miles. It has been very well maintained and cared for. Vehicle Title: As mentioned above, the car was in an accident before I purchased it. As such, the title will show up with an issue in the vehicle history report because it was salvaged and rebuilt. According to the place I purchased the car from it was in a frontal collision and all front body parts were replaced with new panels. They indicated it did not have any frame damage and after driving it the last 4 years I have not experienced anything to indicate that it does. My mechanic also said he can't tell that it has any issues from the wreck. The place I purchased it from showed me photos of the car before it was repaired. None of the glass was even broken which indicated to me the wreck was not that severe. From the pictures it looked like they had to replace both front fenders, the hood and all front bumper assembly. It does not appear to have any Bondo on the car anywhere. I am fairly certain they used all new body parts when they repaired it. I have also had the back bumper replaced since I have owned it (from my wife backing into a small tree). The damage was minimal but it gouged a hole in the plastic bumper cover so it had to be replaced. The car has a normal Texas blue title like any other car except that it says "Rebuilt Salvage - Damaged" under the remarks section on the title. After driving this car in excess of 120,000 miles there is absolutely nothing in regard to the salvage title that should concern a potential purchaser. As mentioned, I have owned the car a little over 4 years and my wife has put over 120,000 miles on it. Almost all of these were highway miles as she drove it 110 miles round trip to work and back each day (not much stop and go driving). This will make an excellent car for someone. The only reason I am selling it is because I purchased a new car for my wife. All in all I think you will be very impressed with how this car looks, drives and performs. Please don’t let the title issue shy you away from this car. It is a very nice car and I think the new owner will be very pleased. I can honestly say I would have no problem jumping in this car and taking off on a long trip. Reliability has never been an issue with this car. As an added measure of assurance for the potential purchaser - if you are the winning bidder and you do not want to complete this purchase once you see and drive the car I will refend all of your deposit less whatever my eBay seller fees total for this transaction. Good luck bidding.
