Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a PHS Documented 1973 Pontiac GTO Sport Coupe with its Matching Numbers 400 4 Barrel High Performance engine with Dual Exhaust and its Original Floor Mounted Console Shifted 3 Speed Muncie Heavy Duty Manual Transmission. This is a nice clean Original 1973 GTO with a long list of options which include Factory Air Conditioning, Variable Ratio Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Soft Ray Tinted Glass, Floor Console, Accent Stripe Package, Front & Rear Bumper Guards, AM-FM Stereo Radio, Shoulder Harness Safety Belts with the Lap Belts, 15x7" Rally II Wheels, Custom Cushion 3 Spoke Deluxe Steering Wheel, Front & Rear Floor Mats, Optional Sport Mirrors with Drivers Side Remote, Wheel Opening & Rocker Moldings, Door Edge Guards and the cool Sport Option which included the Louvered Rear Quarter Windows, Bucket Seats, Woodgrain Interior Trim, Protective Rubber Bumper Strips and more. Take a look at the Build Sheet from Pontiac Historical Services and you will see that this 1973 GTO is the REAL DEAL with all of its Original Options still in place or with the car. This well documented Original Matching Numbers 1973 GTO with the Optional Sport Package and a Manual Transmission, Factory Air Conditioning, AM-FM Stereo Radio, Floor Console and Super Cool Accent Stripe Package is an extremely unusual Muscle car and you will be hard pressed to find another like it as they are not only Rare but finding one that is optioned like this GTO in its Stunning Original Color Combination of Regatta Blue Paint with a Blue Morrokide High Back Bucket Seat interior makes this car likely one of a kind. If anyone knows of another Regatta Blue 1973 GTO with the Optional Sport Package and the Beautiful Blue interior with a 3 Speed Manual Transmission along with the Factory Air Conditioning then please let me know. I have no doubt that this car is the only one of its kind! This GTO is very Original overall with its complete Matching Numbers Drivetrain and it still has all of the little things which are usually long gone or things that were swapped out for after-market pieces back when the GTO was fairly new. The Original 3 Speed Manual Transmission is still shifted by its Original Inland Shifter with the original Pontiac 3 Speed Leather Wrapped Shift Knob which still shows nicely with the 3 Speed Shift pattern on the top of the knob alongside the Pontiac Arrowhead insignia. Try finding one of these Shift Knobs today! This 1973 GTO is beautiful in its correct Original Code "26" Regatta Blue Metallic Paint which was applied less than 2 years ago and looks beautiful! The Optional Code "D98" Accent Sport Stripe Package really makes the car look amazing with its 2 shades of Blue and the White perimeter Striping which brings everything together beautifully and makes for an amazing contrast against the Regatta Blue Metallic Paint. The Original Code "511" Blue Bucket Seat Interior is nice and clean and quite comfortable and looks great with the addition of new correct replacement Carpeting, New Rear Package Tray and a New Blue Headliner while the Plastic interior Trim was redyed in the correct Blue to brighten things up a bit and gives the interior a nice fresh look. Overall the interior is very nice with a New set of Code "B32 & B33" Front & Rear Blue GM Reproduction Floor Mats to keep the interior looking exactly as delivered as per the PHS Documentation. These Mats are brand new and were just installed and they really work well in the slightly darker shade of Blue with the "GM" name molded into the top of the Front Mats. The Darker Blue GM Floor Mats deliver the perfect contrast against the lighter Blue Carpets and interior trim. This GTO was also delivered New with the Factory Optional Code "D55" Front Floor Console which is still in place and houses the Original Inland 3 Speed Manual Shifter and the Original Leather Wrapped 3 Speed Shift Knob with the 3 Speed Shift Pattern and the Original Triangular Pontiac Insignia. This Pontiac 3 Speed Manual Leather wrapped Shift Knob is nearly impossible to find as very few Pontiac's were built with the Standard 3 Speed Heavy Duty Muncie Manual Transmission. This is an extremely unusual car for many reasons from the Muncie "M13" 3 Speed Console Shifted Manual Transmission to the Optional Sport Package Code "W70", Factory Air Conditioning Code "C60", Cool Factory Stripe Package Code "D98", Optional Code "N98" Rally II Wheels in 15x7" and the Beautiful color combination of Code "26" Regatta Blue Metallic with the Code "511" Blue Bucket Seat Interior. This car has an absolutely wonderful look from front to back and is a very Rare one year body design for the GTO that is seldom seen these days! This 1973 GTO was sold New at Frank Woods Pontiac in Charlotte North Carolina back in June of 1973 and the GTO would spend most of its 39 years in North Carolina and most of those 39 years were with its Original Owner. This 1973 GTO Sport Coupe is a wonderful Original car that still retains its Original Matching Numbers Vin Stamped 400 High Performance "YF" Coded engine specific to 1973 GTO's with the 400 HP and 3 Speed Manual Transmission. The engine still retains all of its Original crucial engine components including the original "4X" Cylinder Heads, Original Intake Manifold and the Original Rochester Quadra-Jet # 7043263 along with its Original GM # 1112231 Distributor. All of the new for 1973 Emission components are still in place including the EGR Valve and all of the Original new for 1973 Choke Components are still in place and in good operating condition.....even the Striped Vacuum Hoses are still in place. This is a very Original car overall which in itself is quite unusual as many of the 73's were quickly stripped of many if not all of the emission parts as they were not particularly popular among young Hot-Rodders who were not only unfamiliar with these new pieces or their function but they also felt as though these pieces were robbing their GTO's of its all important Horsepower which they were to some degree but this was 1973 and all of the American Muscle cars received some type of emission equipment and all of the Muscle cars received lower Horsepower ratings. The days of the Muscle car were numbered. Lets face it, not everyone loved the 1973 GTO and many say that the last year of the "true" GTO was 1972 but having owned and driven my share of GTO's over the last 35 years, this is by no means a slouch and its one of the nicest riding cars that Ive ever had the pleasure of driving. This is not a Ram Air IV or a 455 HO by any means but its a very nice driving GTO thats a whole lot of fun to cruise around in with the Manual Floor Shifted 3 Speed Transmission. There is nothing like grabbing gears when your out cruising on a nice Spring day or on a beautiful weekend! One of the things that makes a Muscle car a True Muscle car in my opinion is having a Clutch Pedal and I have sought out Stick Shift cars since I was just a young kid. Personally I think this body style is super cool and with its very unique look from both the front and rear along with its wild body lines, it makes for one great looking GTO and if your going to be cruising around in a GTO then it doesn't get any better than a Blue on Blue 400 4 barrel car with a Stick Shift and Factory Air Conditioning. The 1973 GTO with the 400 4 Barrel High Performance engine and the 3 Speed Heavy Duty Manual Transmission is quite unusual and very rarely found these days as production numbers were very low from the start. The total production for the 1973 LeMans GTO Sport Coupe Model was just 4,312 cars and then when you break them down into Manual Transmission cars, well the Production Numbers fall to just 926 cars which includes both the 3 Speed and the 4 Speed Manual Transmission cars. The 1973 GTO was available with both the 455 4 Barrel engine and the 400 4 Barrel engine but only the 400 4 Barrel cars were offered with a Manual Transmission. The bottom line is, if you wanted a 1973 GTO with a Manual Transmission then you had to order one with the 400 4 Barrel engine which was making only 20 Horsepower less than the 455 equipped GTO's for 1973. The 1973 GTO with a Manual Transmission is quite an unusual car with a total Production run of just 926 cars and of those 926 cars, I wonder how many were Heavy Duty 3 Speed Manual Transmission GTO's? I would think that most guys would have opted for the 4 Speed Transmission over the 3 Speed so you can be pretty sure that the 3 Speed cars are far rarer than the 4 Speed Optioned cars. The "M20" Muncie 4 Speed Manual Transmission was only a $190.00 option in the 1973 GTO while the Heavy Duty Muncie "M13" 3 Speed Manual was the no extra cost Standard Transmission with the optional GTO Package and therefor cost the new GTO buyer nothing. This Regatta Blue Metallic GTO was ordered with $1,619.00 in options which was more than 50% of the base cost of the car making this one pricey 1973 GTO at a total cost of $4,656.60. Now give this a little thought... the price of the Optional AM-FM Stereo which was ordered in this Regatta Blue 1973 GTO was $233.00 while the 4 Speed Transmission would have cost the Original Owner $190.00 should he have ordered the 4 Speed..... He did not! The Optional Air Conditioning which this 1973 Regatta Blue GTO has, cost the Original Owner $397.00 yet he did not order the $190.00 Muncie 4 Speed Manual Transmission. The bottom line is that the Original Owner used his money wisely when he purchased this 1973 GTO by getting the Standard 3 Speed Manual Transmission with Factory Air Conditioning, Soft Ray Tinted Glass, AM-FM Stereo. Power Steering, Rally II Wheels, Bumper Guards, Twin Painted Body Color Sport Mirrors with Drivers Side Remote, Door Edge Guards, Wheel Opening Moldings & Rocker Moldings, Floor Console, Accent Stripes, Power Disc Brakes, Front & Rear Floor Mats and more. This GTO still gave him that blast of fun you get with driving a Manual Floor shifted Transmission along with all of those Cool Options and yet likely still kept him within his budget when it came to his monthly payments on the new GTO. OK... Ive rambled on enough about the unique nature of the 3 Speed Stick and its rarity as well as covering the options one too many times so let me tell you a little about the car. This 1973 Regatta Blue Metallic GTO was ordered new by a gentleman in Charlotte North Carolina and it would stay with its Original Owner until the mid to late 90's according to the paperwork that I have. I was told that it was eventually sold to a family member who then drove the car for sometime before it went to a collector who started the restoration on the GTO before going to another GTO enthusiast who finished it up to how you see the car in the pictures except for a few things that I have done and added to the car. The GTO was restored and painted less than 2 years ago according to its previous owner and the paint was done in PPG Base/Clear before it was wet sanded and buffed to the beautiful shine that you see in the pictures. The Factory Accent Stripe Kit was applied to the car and looks beautiful. The car received all new Weather-Stripping including Doors, Trunk, Door Glass Wipes etc etc. The Front Bumper was Rechromed while retaining the original front bumper guards as well as the Original Bumper Strips which still look pretty nice. The interior received a New Headliner, New Rear Package Tray, New Carpets, New GM Blue Floor Mats Front & Rear and most of the plastic interior Trim was redyed in the correct Original Blue to freshen things up a bit. The engine compartment received many new pieces and a nice detailing to the Original "YF" Coded Matching Numbers Vin Stamped 400 engine that is absolutely original to the car. The engine runs great and sounds good with no unusual noises or issues. The Clutch is Excellent and the Original Muncie M13 3 Speed Transmission along with the Original Inland 3 Speed Shifter are all in great operating condition with no noises and no problems. The Clutch works as it should as does the transmission with no grinding, no slipping, no popping out of gear. The Shifter is one of the Best Inland Shifters and I believe the Best shifting 3 Speed Shifter that I have ever used. Its just as good as it gets with a nice tight shift pattern and even the Original Rod which makes it necessary to put the Transmission into Reverse to get the Key out of the Locking Steering Column is still in place and working as it should. This is always a good indication that a car was never messed with or abused in my opinion. The engine starts easily and the choke goes right to high speed idle and works as it should with no issues. The engine has a nice sound which is not too loud and not entirely quiet....just about right as far as I'm concerned. The engine runs well at low RPM's or at Higher RPM's and the car seems to be very comfortable cruising at 60-65 mph on the highway. It just seems to be its sweet spot if you know what I mean. Don't get me wrong, the car runs and rides great at 80 mph but it just seems to like 60-65 mph for some reason..... maybe its just me being conscious of the Speed Limit....lol lol ....yeah right! All kidding aside... the GTO loves 60-65 mph and performs flawlessly at this speed. The Rear Gear Ratio is 3.23 which was the standard Rear Gear Ratio for the 1973 GTO with the 400 engine and the 3 Speed Heavy Duty Manual Transmission with Air Conditioning. The Rear is quiet with no unusual noises and no humming or clunking of any kind. Mechanically the car is wonderful and runs great, shifts great and drives down the Highway or around town beautifully. This 1973 GTO is nicely optioned with the Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Air Conditioning, AM-FM Stereo Radio along with the Accent Stripe Package, Rally II Wheels, Bumper Guards, Dual Sport Mirrors, Floor Mats, Rocker/Sill & Wheel Opening Moldings, 3 Spoke Custom Cushion Steering Wheel, Should Belts, Black Bumper Strips, Tinted Glass, Floor Console, Soft Ray Full Tinted Glass, Body Side Moldings, Door Edge Guards and more. The Electrical system in this 1973 GTO Sport Coupe is in good overall operating condition with absolutely no signs of any oof the wiring having been hacked up over the years which is likely because of its longtime Original Owner who was in his 30's when he purchased the car new and kept the car until the mid to late 90's. The Lights on this car are all in Good working condition including the Headlights, Both High and Low Beams. The Turn Signals work properly and cancel as they should when you return the steering wheel from a turn. The Parking Lights, Taillights, All Side Marker Lights including the front fender side marker lights and the rear quarter panel side marker lights. The Taillights, Brake Lights, Rear License Plate Light, Reverse Lights all work as they should with no issues. The Speedometer, Odometer and Gas Gauge all work as they should. The Windshield Wipers work properly as does the Horn. There are a couple of Dash Bulbs out in the Instrument Cluster but the Heater / Air Conditioning Controls still light up as does the Original AM-FM Stereo. The Radio seems to need new speakers but I'm not 100% sure. Either way the Radio is coming on and Lights up with the Stereo Light but I have no sound so Im assuming the old speakers are shot or maybe its as simple as the Antenna needing to be plugged in. I don't listen to the Radio much in my old cars anyway so it was not a big deal to me. The Air Conditioning Compressor engages although I believe it could use some Freon and the Original Heater/AC Blower Switch needs to be replaced which is no big deal as they are readily available here on ebay. I might even have one as I have another 1973 & 1974 and have some extra parts that I've gathered over the years. Everything on the car works properly outside of the Heater/AC Blower Switch and the Radio. I would probably have the Air Conditioning converted over to the modern R134 as its a fairly inexpensive conversion. I was quoted around $100-$125 to have it converted to the New R134. The Original Inside Hood Release works properly and the Hood opens and closes nicely. The Glass is all in very good condition and new Door Inner Glass Wipes were installed on both Doors. The Weather-Stripping was replaced around both Doors and the Trunk also received New Weather-Stripping. The Windows roll Up & Down just fine and the Doors Lock and Unlock properly with the Keys. The Trunk Opens and Closes as it should with no issues outside of the New Weather-Stripping still breaking in which requires a little more of a push to close the Trunk until the Weather-Stripping flattens out more. The car has a New Master Cylinder, New Heater Core, Tune-Up and much more. Take a look at the pictures and you should get a fairly good idea as to the cars condition. Its a very good Original car! The Power Steering works great and the car drives down the road beautifully. The Power Disc Brakes stop this car very well and the Emergency/Parking Brake works as it should which is something you want to work properly with a Manual Transmission car. The Transmission shifts beautifully with its Original Inland Shifter and the Clutch is nice and Smooth with no problems. The Matching Numbers 400 4 Barrel "YF" Coded engine specific to 1973 GTO's with the 3 Speed Heavy Duty Muncie "M13" Manual Transmission is in excellent running condition with no noises, no tapping and it runs out great with no smoking or issues..... just a great running GTO! There are some things that I'm forgetting and I will add things to the auction as I remember. The 15x7" Rally II Wheels are really nice and were sent out and Powder Coated with New Trim Rings and Nice Original Pontiac Center Caps. The Tires are fairly New BF Goodrich Radial T/A's and are in excellent condition. The engine compartment is very clean as you can see in the pictures and has very nice eye appeal when you open the Hood. The engine compartment retains nearly all of its Original or Correct style replacement pieces for the Emissions including the EGR Valve and all associated pieces. The Original Rochester Quadr-Jet Carburetor # 7043263 is still in place with all of the correct original pieces for the perfectly operating original Choke. The Original Air Cleaner is still in place with the original Fresh Air Inlet Duct as well as a New Heat Riser/Heat Shield and Duct that runs from the drivers side exhaust Manifold over the "4X" Cylinder Head to the Air Cleaner. The car appears to have its Original Radiator and Original Shroud which are both in good condition. The Original "4X" Cylinder Heads are still on the engine and as I said earlier, the engine runs great with no issues! The Interior is nice and clean with New Carpeting, New Headliner, New Rear Package Tray and many of the interior Plastic Trim was redyed in the Original Blue to give the interior a Nice Fresh look. There are a New set of GM Licensed Reproduction Blue Floor Mats that were recently installed in both the front and rear of the car. The Door Panels are nice and clean and the Seats are quite comfortable and look nice although not new... very clean and attractive. The Dash has a very Original look overall and is clean as you can see in the pictures. The Seat Belts are all in place including the front Shoulder Belts and Lap Belts and the Rear Seat Belts are all in place. The Body on this 1973 GTO is very straight and the Regatta Blue Metallic Paint looks great. The Optional Accent Stripe Package looks great on this car and really pops out when you see the car in person. The car appears to be very solid although Im sure its had some work done before it was painted but there is nothing that jumps out at you. The Body Panel fit is very good for a GM car of this era and looks very nice. The PPG Base Coat / Clear Coat Regatta Blue Metallic Paint has a super smooth finish that looks great from any angle. The Trunk is nice and solid and appears to be very Original Outside of some detailing. The Trunk still retains its Original Jack with the original tire bar and the Original Base.... Original Rubber Sleeves that hold the Jack & Tire Bar together under the Spare tire are still in place as is the Spare 15" Rally II Wheel with a Vintage Belted Tire with Tread that's like new. A New Reproduction Trunk Mat is in place and looks very nice with the Trunk Spatter Paint underneath. Thge underside of the car appears to be very original with undercoating and looks quite solid. I will take some pictures and add them to the auction as soon as we get a break in the weather as it seems as though its been raining here forever. The Original Blacked Out GTO Grills are in excellent condition and the Original Front Bumper was Rechromed. The Rear Bumper is the Original and looks fine although it would benefit from a rechroming as everything else looks so nice. The Original Front and Rear Windshield Trim appears to be in Good Original condition and the same goes for the Original Rocker/Sill Moldings. The Wheel Opening Moldings are also in Good Original condition although the car will need a passenger side rear wheel opening molding. I spoke with a guy a few days ago who claims to have one and is supposed to be digging it out for me so if that works out then I will have a replacement for the Passenger side rear wheel opening molding but that's only if this guy comes through with that molding. The other moldings and trim on the car are in good condition and the New Stripe Kit as well as the GTO and 400 C I D Decals on the Fenders look wonderful. The car is a very nice Original car that is an awesome driver or a wonderful Local Show or Cruise Night car. If your familiar with these cars then you know just how difficult they are to find in good condition and they are very expensive to restore as there is little out there in the way of NOS parts and even less in the way of Reproduction parts. This car is ready for the road and will surely make its new owner very happy or so I would think as you can't buy many Nice Well Documented Muscle cars with great Options and wonderful Documentation for the price of this fairly Rare 1973 GTO. Take a good look at the pictures and you will see that this is a nice car and not some pieced together piece of junk. Keep in mind that this 1973 GTO spent its life in North Carolina where the climate is great on these old cars. This GTO spent its life in North Carolina and was with its Original Owner for many years and I have plenty of documentation that shows that. Please feel free to ask any and all questions before you bid on this car as I'd like the new owner to know exactly what he or she is bidding on or buying. Your welcome to have someone come out and look the car over for you or if your in the Philly PA area then please come and check it out yourself. If your unable to come and see the car then there are many Classic car inspection services that can send a trained Professional out to inspect the car for you at a very reasonable price. I would prefer that you come and see the car in person or have someone come and look it over for you if at all possible. NOTICE THE ORIGINAL OPTIONAL WHEEL OPENING MOLDINGS AND THE ROCKER MOLDINGS ALONG WITH THE REMOTE DRIVERS SPORT MIRROR PAINTED IN BODY COLOR. THE BODY LINES ARE NICE ON THIS CAR AND THE BODY IS VERY STRAIGHT. THE 15X7" RALLY II WHEELS ARE ALSO OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT ON THE 1973 GTO AS THESE CARS CAME STANDARD WITH 15X7" STEEL WHEELS WITH LITTLE DOG DISH HUBCAPS AND BLACKWALL G60-15 BELTED TIRES. ABOVE: THIS FRONT PICTURE OF THE 1973 GTO SHOWS THE NICE FRONT BUMPER WITH THE BLACK RUBBER BUMPER STRIPS, OPTIONAL BUMPER GUARDS, BLACKED OUT GTO GRILLS, N.A.S.A. HOOD, COOL OPTIONAL ACCENT STRIPES, OPTIONAL DUAL PAINTED SPORT MIRRORS AND THE OPTIONAL HIGH BACK MORROKIDE BLUE BUCKET SEATS CAN BE SEEN THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. THE WORKING LIGHTS ROUND OUT THIS COOL FRONTEND SHOT! BY THE WAY, THE LARGER FRONT BUMPER WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS DESIGNED STRICTLY BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT CAME IN FOR 1973 AND DEMANDED NEW FRONT BUMPERS THAT WERE CAPABLE OF 5 MPH IMPACTS THAT WOULD CAUSE NO BODY DAMAGE. THIS WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS NEW FOR ALL 1973 AMERICAN BUILT CARS SO IT WAS NOT SOMETHING THAT WAS SPECIFIC TO THE 1973 GTO BY ANY MEANS. BY 1974 THE GOVERNMENT MADE IT MANDATORY THAT ALL AMERICAN BUILT CARS HAVE A REAR BUMPER THAT WAS CAPABLE OF 5 MPH IMPACTS WITH NO BODY DAMAGE. ABOVE: THE DRIVERS SIDE PICTURE TAKEN TO SHOW THE ROOF LINE AND THE GREAT LOOKING REGATTA BLUE PAINT ALONG WITH THE COOL SLOPING ANGLED REAR WINDSHIELD ALONG WITH THE LOUVERED REAR QUARTER GLASS. THE ROCKER/SILL MOLDINGS ALONG WITH THE WHEEL OPENING MOLDINGS ARE A NICE OPTIONAL ADDITION TO THIS GTO AND REALLY ROUND OUT THE WHOLE PACKAGE!ABOVE: THE DRIVERS SIDE SHOWS THE COOL BODY LINES THAT RUN FROM THE FRONT FENDERS INTO THE DOORS WHICH COMES TO A POINT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DOOR. THE BODY LINES PICK UP AGAIN ON THE UPPER SECTION OF THE DOOR AND FLOWS INTO THE LINES ON THE QUARTER PANEL. THE OPTIONAL WHEEL OPENING MOLDINGS, ROCKER PANEL/SILL MOLDINGS LOOK GREAT ON THESE 1973 GTO's ALTHOUGH MANY OF THESE CARS WERE PRODUCED WITHOUT THESE OPTIONAL MOLDINGS. THE SAME GOES FOR THE OPTIONAL PAINTED DRIVERS SIDE REMOTE SPORT MIRROR WHICH HAD THE MATCHING MANUAL PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR. THE CAR ALSO SHOWS NICELY WITH THE OPTIONAL 15X7" RALLY II WHEELS. THE BODY ON THIS CAR IS NICE AND STRAIGHT AND THE BODY LINES ARE VERY NICE AND CLEAN THROUGHOUT THE CAR. THE OPTIONAL ACCENT STRIPE PACKAGE DOESN'T SHOW WELL IN THIS PICTURE AS IT GETS SWALLOWED UP BY THE BLUE PAINT AT A DISTANCE. THE CAR HAS THE OPTIONAL SOFT RAY TINTED GLASS THROUGHOUT THE CAR AND THE GTO HAS THE OPTIONAL AIR CONDITIONING ALONG WITH THE OPTIONAL FLOOR CONSOLE, AM-FM STEREO RADIO AND MORE! THIS IS A VERY NICE 1973 GTO THAT IS NICELY OPTIONED AND I WOULD VENTURE TO SAY THAT ITS A VERY RARE CAR WITH THESE OPTIONS COMBINED WITH THE 400 4 BARREL ENGINE, DUAL EXHAUST AND THE M13 MUNCIE 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. ITS JUST AN OUTRIGHT COOL CAR!!!!ABOVE: THE OPTIONAL 15X7" RALLY II WHEELS WERE POWDER COATED AND NEW TRIM RINGS WERE INSTALLED AS WELL AS ORIGINAL PONTIAC CENTER CAPS AND THE WHEELS HAVE NICE BF GOODRICH T/A RADIAL TIRES AT ALL FOUR CORNERS!ABOVE: THE PICTURE SHOWING THE FACTORY SOFT RAY TINTED REAR WINDSHIELD WHICH SLOPES BACK ON A COOL ANGLE WHICH GIVES THE CAR AND A GREAT LOOK WHICH WORKS SO WELL WITH THE OTHER BODY LINES AND ESPECIALLY WITH THE SPORT COUPE MODEL WITH THE LOUVERED REAR QUARTER GLASS. THE REAR WINDSHIELD TRIM MOLDINGS ARE NICE AND APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN POLISHED BEFORE THEY WERE INSTALLED ON THE CAR AFTER THE NEW PAINT WAS APPLIED. THIS 1973 GTO HAS VERY NICE PPG BASE/CLEAR PAINT THAT WAS BUFFED TO A STUNNING SHINE THAT'S AS SMOOTH AS GLASS. TAKE A LOOK AT THE OPTIONAL BODY ACCENT STRIPE PACKAGE WHICH STARTS ON EACH SIDE OF THE HOOD AND RUNS BACK INTO THE TOPS OF THE DOORS WHERE IT WIDENS BEFORE EVENTUALLY THINNING OUT UNDER THE LOUVERED REAR QUARTER GLASS BEFORE IT THINS OUT ON THE TOP OF THE REAR QUARTER PANEL AT THE LOWER SECTION OF THE ROOFLINE ALONGSIDE THE LOWER REAR WINDSHIELD TRIM. THIS IS A WONDERFUL 1973 GTO SPORT COUPE AND ITS HISTORY IS WELL DOCUMENTED WITH LOADS OF PAPERWORK/DOCUMENTATION. THIS 1973 GTO WAS ORDERED BY A GENTLEMAN IN CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA WHERE THE GTO WOULD SPEND MOST OF ITS LIFE BEFORE COMING TO PENNSYLVANIA. THIS WELL OPTIONED BEAUTIFUL 1973 GTO IS A GREAT CAR! ABOVE: THE PASSENGER SIDE UPPER QUARTER PANEL SHOWN WITH THE BODY COLOR PAINTED LOUVERED REAR QUARTER GLASS. THE OPTIONAL ACCENT STRIPE PACKAGE IS SHOWN HERE AS IT NARROWS FROM ITS WIDER DOOR SECTION OF THE STRIPE TO THE THINNING SECTION OF THE STRIPES UNDER THE LOUVERED QUARTER GLASS WHICH GO NEARLY ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE THE LOWER REAR WINDSHIELD MOLDING. YOU CAN ALSO SEE THE NEW PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WEATHER-STRIPPING AT THE REAR OF THE DOOR WHERE THE DOOR GLASS ROLLS UP. LOOK AT THE NICE JOB DONE ON THE PAINT AS SHOWN ON THE UPPER REAR QUARTER PANEL AND ON THE WINDOW LOUVERS. THE PAINT IS NICE AND SMOOTH WITH A GREAT LUSTER FROM FRONT TO BACK! THIS IS ONE OF THE COOLEST 1973 GTO's THAT I'VE SEEN OVER THE YEARS WITH ITS WONDERFUL COLOR COMBINATION AND ITS GREAT LIST OF OPTIONS ALONG WITH THE DOCUMENTATION BACK TO ITS LONGTIME ORIGINAL OWNER! I'M FAIRLY SURE THAT THIS CAR NEVER LEFT THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA AS FAR AS OWNERSHIP GOES. THE CAR WAS WITH ITS ORIGINAL OWNER UNTIL THE MID TO LATE 90's IN NORTH CAROLINA JUST A FEW MILES FROM ITS ORIGINAL SELLING DEALER, FRANK WOODS PONTIAC IN CHARLOTTE NORTH CAROLINA. THE GTO WOULD EVENTUALLY GO TO A FAMILY MEMBER IN NORTH CAROLINA AS I WAS TOLD WHERE IT STAYED IN NORTH CAROLINA UNTIL IT WENT TO A PONTIAC ENTHUSIAST IN NORTH CAROLINA WHO UNDERSTOOD THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS RARE NUMBERS MATCHING 1973 GTO. ABOVE: A GREAT PICTURE OF THE 1973 GTO WITH ITS AGGRESSIVE STANCE SHOWING ITS COOL OVERALL LOOK FROM THE FRONT TO THE REAR OF THE CAR. THIS 1973 GTO HAS ITS ORIGINAL MATCHING NUMBERS 400 4 BARREL ENGINE WITH THE "YF" CODE AND THE VIN NUMBER STAMPED ALONG THE LOWER FRONT SECTION OF THE BLOCK ALONGSIDE THE WATER PUMP. THE ORIGINAL MUNCIE M13 HEAVY DUTY 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION IS IN EXCELLENT WORKING ORDER WITH ITS ORIGINAL INLAND SHIFTER WHICH ALSO WORKS PERFECTLY. ABOVE: THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE 1973 GTO SHOWS THE NICE STRAIGHT BODY AND THE WIDEST SECTION OF THE OPTIONAL ACCENT STRIPE PACKAGE WHICH STARTS AT THE FRONT MIDDLE SECTION OF EACH SIDE OF THE HOOD AND GETS WIDER AS IT FLOWS ONTO THE DOORS BEFORE TAPERING TO THE THINNER SECTION ON THE QUARTER PANELS ON EACH SIDE JUST BEHIND THE DOOR HANDLES. THIS STRIPE PACKAGE IS NOT ONLY A GREAT LOOKING OPTIONAL STRIPE BUT IT REALLY WORKS WELL WITH THIS UNUSUAL BODY STYLE THAT WAS USED FOR THE 1973 MODEL YEAR ONLY. NOTICE HOW MUCH OF AN IMPACT THE OPTIONAL ROCKER/SILL MOLDINGS MAKE ON THESE CARS AS WELL AS THE GREAT LOOK THAT THE OPTIONAL WHEEL OPENING MOLDINGS MAKE ON THESE CARS. THESE 1973 GTO'S WERE AVAILABLE IN THE COUPE OR WITH THE OPTIONAL SPORT COUPE PACKAGE. WHEN YOU ORDERED THE GTO PACKAGE ON EITHER MODEL YOU RECEIVED THE 400 4 BARREL ENGINE WITH DUAL EXHAUST , SCOOPED N.A.S.A HOOD, SPECIAL GTO BADGING, BLACKED OUT GRILLS, 15" STEEL WHEELS WITH DOG DISH OR "MOON" CAPS AS THE PONTIAC SALES BROCHURE CALLED THEM AND YOU ALSO RECEIVED THE STANDARD HEAVY DUTY 3 SPEED FLOOR SHIFTED M13 MUNCIE MANUAL TRANSMISSION. FIRM CONTROL SHOCKS, HEAVY DUTY 1 1/8" FRONT SWAY BAR AND A 1" REAR SWAY BAR WHICH WAS SOMETHING THAT WAS NEVER OFFERED ON EARLIER GTO's. THE 1973 GTO IS BY FAR THE MOST UNUSUAL OF THE GTO'S BUILT FROM 1964-1974 AND THE THINGS THAT MAKE THE CAR STAND OUT AS AN ODDBALL ARE THE THINGS THAT I FIND MOST INTERESTING. ABOVE: THE REGATTA BLUE METALLIC DRIVERS SIDE LOUVERED REAR QUARTER GLASS LOOKS AWESOME AND WAS THE ONE THING THAT COULD IMMEDIATELY DIFFERENTIATE THE 1973 GTO SPORT COUPE FROM THE 1973 GTO COUPE. THESE TRIANGULAR SHAPED QUARTER WINDOWS WERE FIXED WINDOWS WHICH DO NOT ROLL UP OR DOWN BUT ARE IN THE FIXED POSITION AT ALL TIMES WITH THE LOUVERS ALSO IN THE FIXED POSITION AT ALL TIMES WHICH WAS VERY MUCH LIKE SOME OF THE OTHER GM "A" BODY CARS OF THE ERA. THE PAINT WORK ON THESE LOUVERS IS VERY NICE AS IS THE PAINT THROUGHOUT THE CAR. ITS SIMPLY A BEAUTIFUL CAR. ABOVE: THE FRONT NOSE OR HEADER PANEL IS IN BEAUTIFUL ORIGINAL CONDITION AND THE PAINT ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR IS VERY NICE. THE STRIPES LOOK AWESOME RUNNING DOWN EACH SIDE OF THE HOOD AND N.A.S.A SCOOPED HOOD IS A VERY DISTINCT MAKING FOR ONE VERY ATTRACTIVE OVERALL LOOK. THE HOOD ON THIS GTO IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD HAS A NEW HOOD INSULATION PAD. THIS IS A NICE CAR AND LOOKS GORGEOUS FROM EVERY ANGLE. THIS GTO IS A VERY HIGH OPTION LOW PRODUCTION CAR WITH ITS 3 SPEED HEAVY DUTY MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND WITH ITS WONDERFUL ORIGINAL COLOR COMBINATION, IT STANDS OUT AS ONE OF THE MOST ATTRACTIVE 1973 GTO'S THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THERE ARE OTHER 1973 GTO'S WITH STUNNING COLOR COMBINATIONS ALONG WITH A NICE LIST OF OPTIONS BUT FINDING ONE THAT IS TRULY UNIQUE IS NOT AN EASY TASK. KEEP IN MIND THAT ONLY "926" GTO SPORT COUPES WERE BUILT IN 1973 WHICH INCLUDED THE 400 4 BARREL WITH THE 3 SPEED HEAVY DUTY MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND THE 400 4 BARREL MUNCIE M20 4 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO EXACT BREAK DOWN FOR THE 3 SPEED AND 4 SPEED CARS GTO'S FOR 1973 BUT I WOULD GUESS THAN LESS THAN 25% OF THESE CARS WERE BUILT WITH THE MUNCIE M13 HEAVY DUTY 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I SAY 25% BECAUSE IT SEEMED LIKE A REASONABLE NUMBER AS MOST OF THE 1973 GTO'S THAT IVE COME ACROSS OVER THE YEARS HAVE BEEN EQUIPPED WITH EITHER THE OPTIONAL 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION OR THE OPTIONAL TURBO-HYDRAMATIC AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ONLY SEEN "2" 1973 GTO'S EQUIPPED WITH THE MUNCIE M13 HEAVY DUTY 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT THE EXACT FIGURES ARE AND I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT ANYONE KNOWS EXACTLY HOW MANY 3 OR 4 SPEED CARS WERE BUILT BUT THERE IS ONE THING THAT'S FOR SURE AND THAT IS, 3 SPEED HEAVY DUTY FLOOR SHIFTED MUNCIE M13 MANUAL TRANSMISSION EQUIPPED 1973 GTO'S ARE A RARITY!ABOVE: THIS PICTURE SHOWS THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE HOOD AND FENDER WITH ITS ACCENT STRIPES THAT LOOK AWESOME ON THIS GTO! THE PAINT SHINES BEAUTIFULLY AND LOOKS VERY NICE AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE REFLECTIONS OF THE TREES ON THE HOOD!ABOVE: THE COOL ACCENT STRIPE PACKAGE AS WELL AS THE LOUVERED REAR QUARTER GLASS REALLY SHOW NICELY IN THIS PICTURE. THIS PHOTO SHOWS THE REGATTA BLUE METALLIC PAINT AND THE STRIPE PACKAGE AS THEY LOOK IN PERSON. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL COLOR AND THE STRIPES REALLY WORK WELL WITH THIS BODY STYLE WITH ITS SLOPING ROOFLINE AND THE BODY LINES.ABOVE: THIS DRIVERS SIDE PICTURE SHOWS THE GREAT LOOKING BODY DESIGN WITH ITS SLOPING FASTBACK STYLE ROOF LINE AND THE GREAT LINES OF THE QUARTER PANELS WHICH ROLL DOWN SMOOTHLY INTO THE REAR BUMPER. THIS PICTURE ALSO SHOWS THAT BOTH THE FRONT FENDER SIDE MARKER LIGHT AND THE REAR QUARTER PANEL SIDE MARKER LIGHT ARE WORKING PROPERLY AS ARE BOTH TAILLIGHTS AND EVEN THE LICENSE PLATE LIGHT WORKS~! THE LOUVERED REAR QUARTER GLASS IS AN AWESOME TOUCH AND IS PART OF THE SPORT PACKAGE OPTION!ABOVE: THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONTEND OF THE 1973 GTO SHOWS WELL WITH NICE PAINT AND A RECHROMED FRONT BUMPER ALONG WITH THE BLACKED OUT GRILLS AND THE COOL N.A.S.A HOOD WHICH ARE PART OF THE GTO PACKAGE. THIS HOOD AND BLACKED OUT GRILLS ARE REALLY UNIQUE AS THIS WAS THE ONLY YEAR FOR THIS BODY STYLE GTO!ABOVE: ANOTHER COOL DRIVERS SIDE PICTURE THAT SHOWS THE COOL BODY LINES OF THE 1973 GTO. THESE CARS WERE COOL WHETHER YOUR A FAN OF THE 73'S OR NOT.... GOTTA LOVE THE REAR LOUVERED QUARTER GLASS, RALLY II WHEELS AND THE FASTBACK STYLE ROOF ABOVE: THIS PICTURE SHOWS THE COOL ROOF LINE AND BODY LINES OF THE 1973 GTO SPORT COUPE. NOTICE THE SIDE MARKER LIGHTS WORKING BOTH FRONT AND REAR! ABOVE: THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE GTO SHOWS NICELY AND IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN REGATTA BLUE WITH THE STRIPE PACKAGE!!! ABOVE: THIS PICTURE TAKEN FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE LOOKS VERY NICE AND SHOWS THE INTERIOR VERY CLEARLY. SINCE THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN I HAVE INSTALLED A SET OF NEW GM REPRODUCTION FLOOR MATS AS WERE ORIGINAL TO THIS CAR ACCORDING TO THE PHS DOCUMENTATION. THEY REALLY LOOK GREAT IN THE CAR AND MADE AN IMMEDIATE IMPACT OR AT LEAST I LIKE THEM.....ANYWAY... NICE INTERIOR AND VERY COMFORTABLE TO DRIVE ABOVE: PASSENGER SIDE DOOR PANEL LOOKS GREAT AND HAS NEW WEATHER-STRIPPING AS WELL AS NEW EXTERIOR DOOR GLASS WINDOW SWEEPS OR CAT WHISKERS. NOTICE THE REAR PASSENGER ASHTRAY LOCATED AT THE REAR END OF THE DOOR PANELS... VERY COOL! ABOVE: THE DOOR PANEL GTO EMBLEM AND ORIGINAL WOODGRAIN TRIM...NICE AND CLEAN! ABOVE: THIS PICTURE TAKEN FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE SHOWS THE INTERIOR LOOKING QUITE NICE WITH THE ORIGINAL FLOOR CONSOLE AND ORIGINAL SHIFTER...OPTIONAL CUSTOM CUSHION 3 SPOKE STEERING WHEEL WHICH WAS STANDARD FROM 1969-1971 AND THEN OPTIONAL FOR 1972 AND 1973 GTO'S AS THE 2 SPOKE STEERING WHEEL WAS STANDARD FOR THE 1972 AND 1973 MODELS. ABOVE: THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR PANEL LOOKS NICE WITH THE ORIGINAL ASHTRAY FOR REAR PASSENGERS AND THE NEW DOOR WEATHER-STRIPPING... ORIGINAL GTO EMBLEM AND THE ORIGINAL WOODGRAIN TRIM. OPTIONAL FACTORY SPORT MIRRORS ARE A GREAT OPTION WITH THE DRIVERS SIDE REMOTE WORKING AS IT SHOULD! ABOVE: THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR PANEL SHOWS NICELY WITH THE ORIGINAL GTO EMBLEM AND ORIGINAL WOODGRAIN TRIM ABOVE: THE DRIVERS SIDE INTERIOR PICTURE SHOWS EVERYTHING NICE AND CLEAN FROM THE DOOR JAMB TO THE SEATS, SILL PLATES AND NEW DOOR WEATHER-STRIPPING WHICH MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THESE CARS AS THE WEATHER-STRIPPING IS ALWAYS IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT IN THESE 73'S. ALL IN ALL, A VERY CLEAN INTERIOR THAT LOOKS VERY NICE! ABOVE: THE INTERIOR AS SHOWN FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE GIVES YOU A GOOD OVERALL VIEW OF THE DASH, CONSOLE AND STEERING WHEEL. THIS PICTURE ALONG WITH THE PICTURE BELOW SHOULD SHOW YOU JUST ABOUT ALL THERE IS TO SEE IN THIS INTERIOR...VERY NICE!ABOVE: THE NEW "GM" BLUE FLOOR MATS ARE NOW IN PLACE IN BOTH THE FRONT AND REAR AND LOOK GREAT! ABOVE: PICTURE SHOWING THE NEW REPRODUCTION FLOOR MAT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT. THERE IS NOW A FULL SET OF THE NEW GM LICENSED REPRODUCTION FLOOR MATS IN THE CAR ALTHOUGH MOST OF THE PICTURES SHOW THE INTERIOR WITH A PAIR OF OLDER FRONT MATS. THESE DARK BLUE "GM" MATS REALLY MAKE FOR A NICE ADDITION TO THE GTO AS IT WAS ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED WITH BOTH FRONT AND REAR FLOOR MATS ACCORDING TO THE PHS AND THE WINDOW STICKER. ABOVE: THE DASH SHOWN FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE WHICH ALSO SHOWS THE OPTIONAL CUSTOM CUSHION STEERING WHEEL, OPTIONAL FLOOR CONSOLE, OPTIONAL AM-FM STEREO RADIO AND THAT COOL 3 SPEED MANUAL FLOOR SHIFTER COMING OUT FROM THE CONSOLE! ABOVE: THE DASH AS SHOWN FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE WHICH ALSO SHOWS THE NICE BLUE COLORING OF THE SEATS AND CONSOLE. THIS INTERIOR HAS A VERY CLEAN OVERALL APPEARANCE AND ITS VERY COMFORTABLE AS WELL! ABOVE: THE OPTIONAL CUSTOM CUSHION 3 SPOKE STEERING WHEEL WITH THE WOODGRAIN HORN PAD WITH THE STANDARD GAUGE PANEL IN THE BACKGROUND WITH OPERATING SPEEDOMETER AND ODOMETER AND WORKING GAS GAUGE FOUND IN THE MIDDLE. ABOVE: THE CENTER OF THE DASH LOOKS NICE AND CLEAN WITH THE $233.00 OPTIONAL AM-FM STEREO RADIO. ABOVE THE RADIO YOU'LL SEE THE ORIGINAL HEATER/AIR CONDITIONING PANEL WITH ALL ORIGINAL LEVERS IN PLACE AND THEY OPERATE SMOOTHLY ALTHOUGH THE BLOWER SWITCH APPEARS TO NEED REPLACING. I SHOULD HAVE ANOTHER TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL AND IT WILL GO WITH THE CAR, ABOVE: THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASH WITH THE WOODGRAIN GLOVEBOX DOOR.ABOVE: THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE DASH WITH THE WOODGRAIN GLOVEBOX DOOR AND ALL DASH VENTS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION. ABOVE: THE INTERIOR AS SHOWN FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS A NICE CLEAN LOOK AND IS VERY COMFORTABLE. THE WOODGRAIN ON THE CONSOLE COULD STAND TO BE FRESHENED UP AND ITS NOTHING MORE THAN A WOODGRAIN DECAL SO IT WOULD NOT ONLY BE AN EASY THING TO REPLACE BUT IT WOULD MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE CARS INTERIOR.....JUST AN OPINION. ABOVE: THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR JAMB AND THE INTERIOR HAS A NICE APPEARANCE ABOVE: THE PACKAGE TRAY WAS REPLACED WITH A NEW REPRODUCTION AND A NEW BLUE HEADLINER AND CARPET SET WERE ALSO INSTALLED. THE INTERIOR HAS A NICE CLEAN APPEARANCE. THE SEAT COVERS, DOOR PANELS, CONSOLE, DASH AND INTERIOR TRIM IS ORIGINAL WITH SOME OF THE PIECES REDYED AND THEY LOOK VERY NICE BUT ITS NOT ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. OVERALL, A NICE CLEAN INTERIOR THAT LOOKS WONDERFUL AGAINST THE REGATTA BLUE METALLIC PAINT! ABOVE: THE ORIGINAL SEAT COVERS LOOK NICE AND THE REAR PACKAGE TRAY AND NEW CARPETING LOOK GREAT. THE INTERIOR PANELS LOOK QUITE NICE IN THEIR ORIGINAL BLUE WHICH WAS REDYED AND THE ORIGINAL WOODGRAIN TRIM IN THE FRONT AND REAR DOOR PANELS LOOKS VERY NICE. SINCE THIS PICTURE WAS TAKEN A SET OF OPTIONAL BLUE GM REPRODUCTION FLOOR MATS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED IN THE FRONT AND REAR AS SHOWN ON THE BUILD SHEET! ABOVE: THE DOOR JAMB ON THE DRIVERS SIDE SHOWS NICE CLEAN PAINT AND LOOKS GREAT OVERALL! ABOVE: THE RARE ORIGINAL 3 SPEED STANDARD TRANSMISSION IS SELDOM SEEN IN THE 1973 GTO OR ANY OTHER GTO FOR THAT MATTER AS MOST BUYERS WOULD HAVE OPTED FOR THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OR THE 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION. THIS GTO IS LIKELY ONE OF A KIND BETWEEN ITS OPTIONS, COLOR COMBINATION AND THE 400 CUBIC INCH ENGINE WITH THE 3 SPEED FLOOR SHIFTED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THE 3 SPEED TRANSMISSION WAS STANDARD AND THEREFORE IS NOT SHOWN ON THE PHS DOCUMENTATION. THE 3 SPEED WAS NOT AN OPTION BUT "STANDARD" THE ORIGINAL "INLAND" 3 SPEED SHIFTER WORKS GREAT AND IS ALSO A RARITY AS MOST HOT RODDERS WOULD HAVE SWAPPED OUT THE INLAND SHIFTER FOR A HURST SHIFTER. THIS CAR IS JUST VERY UNUSUAL IN SO MANY WAYS. THE OPTIONAL FLOOR CONSOLE WAS AN EXTRA $59.00 OPTION AND THE FACTORY OPTIONAL AM-FM STEREO RADIO WAS AN EXTRA $233.00 YET THE ORIGINAL OWNER DID NOT ORDER THE OPTIONAL $190.00 4 SPEED MUNCIE M20 TRANSMISSION.... THE AIR CONDITIONING WAS AN EXTRA $397.00 BUT AGAIN THE ORIGINAL OWNER WENT WITH THE 3 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY ONE UNUSUAL GTO AND A VERY COOL CAR WITH THE REGATTA BLUE METALLIC PAINT WITH THE OPTIONAL STRIPE PACKAGE AND BLUE BUCKET SEAT INTERIOR!!! ABOVE: THE PASSENGER SIDE BUCKET SEAT AND DOOR PANEL LOOK GREAT. NOTICE THE ORIGINAL GTO EMBLEM IN THE DOOR PANEL!ABOVE: THE OPTIONAL MORROKIDE BLUE BUCKET SEAT INTERIOR WITH THE OPTIONAL FLOOR SHIFTER HAS A NICE CLEAN APPEARANCEABOVE: THE ORIGINAL 3 SPEED MANUAL SHIFTER WITH THE ORIGINAL SHIFTER BOOT AND THE ORIGINAL LEATHER WRAPPED SHIFTER KNOB. THIS IS A VERY UNUSUAL 1973 GTO WITH THE 3 SPEED MANUAL AND THE LONG LIST OF OPTIONS ALONG WITH ITS WONDERFUL COLOR COMBINATION. THE ORIGINAL 3 SPEED INLAND SHIFTER WORKS GREAT AND IS ONE OF THE BEST THAT IVE HAD IN MANY YEARS WITH A GOOD TIGHT PATTERN AND VERY EASY TO USE WITH A NICE SMOOTH CLUTCH! ABOVE: THE GTO FROM FRONT DEAD CENTER LOOKS GREAT!!!! THE ORIGINAL PONTIAC SHIELD EMBLEM ON THE HEADER PANEL SHOWS SOME FADING IN THE ORIGINAL RED COLORING BUT ITS OTHERWISE VERY NICE ABOVE: THE FRONT HEADER SHOWS THE BEAUTIFUL REGATTA BLUE METALLIC PAINT AND THOSE COOL OPTIONAL ACCENT STRIPES THAT RUN DOWN EACH SIDE OF THE NASA SCOOPED HOOD. ABOVE: THE GTO LOOKS VERY NICE AS YOU CAN SEE AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS ARE WORKING PROPERLY FROM THE SIDE MARKER LIGHTS TO THE FRONT BUMPER MOUNTED PARKING LIGHTS, HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS AND BRAKE LIGHTS. THIS GTO HAS A VERY COOL AND AGGRESSIVE LOOK FROM THE FRONT WITH THE COOL NASA SCOOPED HOOD TO THOSE WONDERFUL OPTIONAL STRIPES THAT RUN DOWN THE SIDES OF THE HOOD. THE GTO HAS THE BLACKED OUT GRILLS WHICH ALSO GIVE THIS CAR A GREAT LOOK... GOTTA LOVE THE OVERALL LOOK! ABOVE: THE RECHROMED FRONT BUMPER LOOKS GREAT AND THE BLACKED OUT GRILLS LOOK VERY NICE. THERE ARE NO SCRATCHES ON THE FRONTEND PAINT OF THIS GTO ....MAYBE A COUPLE OF VERY MINOR ROAD STONE CHIPS BUT YOU WOULD HAVE TO LOOK HARD TO FIND THEM... THE PAINT LOOKS GREAT AND ANYTHING YOU SEE IN THE PICTURES THAT APPEARS TO BE A PAINT ISSUE IS A REFLECTION OR AN ISSUE WITH THE CAMERA AS THE PAINT LOOKS VERY NICE.. OPTIONAL FRONT BUMPER GUARDS LOOK NICE WITH ORIGINAL BLACK RUBBER BUMPER STRIPS. THIS IS A NICE 1973 GTO AND A VERY UNUSUAL ORIGINAL EXAMPLE WITH GREAT OPTIONS AND BEAUTIFUL COLOR COMBINATION! ABOVE: NICE PICTURE OF THE FRONT OF THE 1973 GTO. THE FRONT BUMPER IS RECHROMED AND LOOKS GREAT AND THE CORRECT BLACKED-OUT GTO GRILLS ARE IN EXCELLENT ORIGINAL CONDITION. THE BUMPER GUARDS AND BLACK BUMPER STRIP ARE ORIGINALS. THE LIGHTS ALL WORK AS THEY SHOULD. THE FRONT SHOWS A REFLECTION TO THE RIGHT OF DEAD CENTER AT THE TOP OF THE DRIVERS SIDE GRILL. THIS IS A REFLECTION AND NOT A SCRATCH. THERE IS NO DAMAGE HERE... PAINT IS VERY NICE AND LOOKS GREAT! ABOVE: THE FRONT OF THE CAR WITH THE HOOD OPEN SHOWS EVERYTHING LOOKING NICE AND CLEAN WITH THE CORRECT UNDER HOOD PAD IN PLACE ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE HOOD AND THE ORIGINAL AIR CLEANER, RADIATOR SHROUD AND ALL AIR CONDITIONING PIECES IN PLACE. THE FRONT HEADER SHOWS A REFLECTION JUST TO THE RIGHT OF DEAD CENTER WHICH IS NOT A SCRATCH BUT JUST A STRANGE REFLECTION.... VERY CLEAN WITH A NICE ORIGINAL OVERALL APPEARANCE! ONE OF THE ORIGINAL HEADLIGHT BULBS IS STILL IN PLACE! ABOVE: ENGINE COMPARTMENT SHOWN FROM DEAD CENTER. EVERYTHING IS NICE AND CLEAN. ABOVE: ORIGINAL EMISSION CONTROL DECAL LOCATED ON THE RADIATOR SUPPORT ABOVE: THIS PICTURE SHOWS THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NICE AND CLEAN WITH EVERYTHING IN PLACE AND LOOKING QUITE NICE. LIKE ANY CLASSIC MUSCLE CAR THERE ARE ALWAYS SOME THINGS THAT COULD BE ADDED OR DETAILED TO A HIGH LEVEL BUT THIS 1973 GTO SHOWS NICELY UNDER THE HOOD. IT ALSO RUNS GREAT!ABOVE: PICTURE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SHOWS EVERYTHING NICE AND CLEAN. THE PAINT ON THE FRONT PANEL SHOWS VERY WELL ABOVE: NICE PICTURE FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SHOWS EVERYTHING NICE AND CLEAN! ABOVE: THE ORIGINAL COWL TAG IS STILL IN PLACE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND SHOWS ALL OF THE PERTINENT INFORMATION FROM THE BODY NUMBERS, OPTION CODES, "A" ATLANTA GEORGIA ASSEMBLY PLANT, TRIM CODE 251 BLUE MORROKIDE , A51 BUCKET SEATS, PAINT CODE 26 26 FOR THE REGATTA BLUE BODY AND ROOF PAINT AND THE "05A" FIRST WEEK OF MAY 1973 BUILD DATE, ETC ETC ETC. ABOVE: THE NICE CLEAN BLACK INNER FENDERS SHOW NICELY AND THE ORIGINAL AIR CLEANER IS STILL IN PLACE. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SHOWS NICELY. CHECK OUT THE NICE REGATTA BLUE PAINT ON THE TOP OF THE DRIVERS SIDE FENDER! ABOVE: THE ORIGINAL "4X" CYLINDER HEAD CASTING NUMBER CAN BE SEEN HEAT SHIELD. ABOVE: THE ENGINE SHOWS NICELY WITH ITS ORIGINAL EMISSION PIECES ALONG WITH ITS ORIGINAL # 7043263 QUADRA-JET CARBURETOR AND THE YELLOW THROTTLE RETURN SPRING.. ALL OF THE ORIGINAL CHOKE PARTS ARE STILL THERE AND WORKING CORRECTLY! THERE WAS NOTHING DONE TO THESE PIECES AND NO ARMORALL USED TO ENHANCE THE LOOK OF THE HOSES OR ANY OTHER ENGINE COMPARTMENT PIECES FOR THAT MATTER. THIS IS JUST A CLEAN ENGINE COMPARTMENT THAT SHOWS NICELY AND WOULD LOOK EVEN NICER WITH A SERIOUS DETAILING. DON'T GET ME WRONG, THIS ENGINE COMPARTMENT LOOKS VERY NICE BUT A LITTLE MORE DETAIL WORK WOULD TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL. NOTICE THE NICE CLEAN ENGINE WITH THE CORRECT PONTIAC ENGINE PAINT AND THE ORIGINAL DECAL ON THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR AS WELL AS THE NICE POWER BRAKE BOOSTER, MASTER CYLINDER, WINDSHIELD WASHER RESERVIUR , NICELY DETAILED HOOD SPRINGS AND MORE! ABOVE: THE ENGINE SHOWN WITH THE AIR CLEANER REMOVED SO THAT YOU CAN SEE THAT ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL OR CORRECT REPLACEMENT PIECES ARE STILL ON THE ENGINE. NOTICE ALL OF THE ORIGINAL AIR CONDITIONING PIECES ARE ALL INTACT AS ARE ALL OF THE ORIGINAL EMISSIONS PARTS INCLUDING THE EGR VALVE ON THE INTAKE ALONG WITH ALL RELATED ORIGINAL PARTS. THE 1973 MODEL GTO's BROUGHT MANY CHANGES TO SUIT THE EPA AS WELL AS OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES WHICH NOT ONLY ADDED EMISSIONS BUT ALSO MANY CHANGES IN SAFETY FEATURES. THE 1973 GTO WAS A LOW PRODUCTION VEHICLE AND FINDING ONE THAT STILL HAS MOST OF ITS ORIGINAL PIECES UNDER THE HOOD IS A RARITY! ABOVE: NICE FRONT SHOT OF THE 1973 GTO! ABOVE: NICE REPRODUCTION WINDOW STICKER IS WITH THE CAR ALONG WITH THE PHS DOCUMENTATION AND MANY RECEIPTS FOR SERVICE WORK DONE ON THE 1973 GTO ALL THE WAY BACK TO ITS ORIGINAL OWNER! THERE IS A LOT OF PAPERWORK WITH THIS CAR! TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THAT LIST OF OPTIONS AND YOU WILL SEE THAT THIS WAS A RATHER EXPENSIVE CAR FOR 1973 AT $4,656.60 WITH $1.619.00 IN OPTIONS WHICH WAS MORE THAN 50% OF THE ORIGINAL COST OF THE VEHICLE. THE 1973 GTO's LIKE THE EARLY GTO's STARTED OUT AS AN OPTION PACKAGE ON THE LEMANS AND THIS CAR NOT ONLY HAS THE GTO PACKAGE BUT IT ALSO HAS THE COOL SPORT COUPE OPTION WHICH GAVE YOU THE CHOICE OF THE NOTCHBACK BENCH SEAT OR BUCKET SEATS AND YOU ALSO RECEIVED THE LOUVERED REAR QUARTER WINDOWS, PROTECTIVE RUBBER BUMPER STRIPS AND WOODGRAIN GLOVEBOX DOOR WITH MATCHING INTERIOR WOODGRAIN ON THE DOOR PANELS, DASH, CONSOLE AND WITH THE OPTIONAL CUSTOM CUSHION 3 SPOKE STEERING WHEEL, YOU ALSO GOT THE MATCHING WOODGRAIN INSERT. THE GTO OPTION WAS A BARGAIN AT $354.00 WHICH GOT YOU THE 400 4 BARREL ENGINE, DUAL EXHAUST, 15X7 STEEL WHEELS WITH DOG DISH HUBCAPS, G60X15 BLACK SIDEWALL TIRES, HEAVY DUTY SHOCKS AND FRONT AND REAR SWAY BARS, NASA HOOD WITH THE COOL SCOOPS, BLACKED OUT GRILL WITH THE GTO EMBLEM, GTO DECALS ON THE FENDERS WITH THE ENGINE 400 C.I.D. On Dec-19-12 at 20:42:05 PST, seller added the following information: This 1973 GTO still has many of the pieces that are often missing from Manual Transmission cars such as the Clutch Inspection Cover, Original 3 Speed Shifter with the Original Pontiac Shift Knob, Properly operating Reverse Lights which is another thing that is often either missing parts or they just don't work because the harnesses or switches were discarded after the first Clutch change. Another thing that is often inoperable or doesn't work properly is the Locking Steering Column which required the Manual Transmission Shifter(3 & 4 Speed) to be in Reverse before the Steering Column could be properly locked and the Key Removed! This is another one of those little things that is commonly inoperable. The Numbers Matching 400 "YF" Coded 400 cubic inch 4 Barrel engine still has all of the Original Emission parts including the EGR Valve and the parts associated with the new emissions set-up which were often tossed in the trash on these cars is still complete and on the engine along with the Original Quadra-Jet Carburetor # 7043263. Then there are pieces like the Original Rocker Moldings which are still in place and in good original condition and the Original Door Edge Guards although not installed after the car was painted but are still with the car. The Paint on this GTO is very nice and there are no scratches or dents to speak of.....maybe a couple of tiny stone chips and minor imperfections but that's about it. The Body is very straight and the unusual body lines of the 1973 GTO would be a bit tricky for proper panel fit if this car would have suffered any serious body damage over the years with its unique body lines and design. I see no indication of any serious previous collision damage and the lines in the fenders, doors and quarter panels all look great and line up nicely.... nice clean look when you look down the sides of the GTO. The Stripes are done very well and look beautiful on the car from the front of the hood to where they taper on the rear quarter panels. The interior has a nice clean appearance overall with nothing terrible worth mentioning. The pictures tell the story. This is a very pretty GTO with outstanding eye appeal but as with any 40 year old car there are always things that can be done to improve upon the look or overall appearance of the car. The Rear Bumper is Original and although it is not an eye sore, it is showing its age and would benefit from a rechroming. The Taillights could use a little detailing as the Silver that runs around the perimeter of the lenses has faded a bit but this is something that could be easily remedied by using a chrome finish felt marker or you can tape them off and paint the thin chrome-like line that runs around the taillight lenses or they do show up for sale from time to time here on ebay. I would just detail them and enjoy the car..... its so much fun as it is now and this is not something that most people would even know if I didn't mention it here. This 1973 GTO is very fairly priced in my opinion. Its not flawless but its a pretty nice car with real nice Paint and it runs and drives great. If you do some searching on the internet then you might find one of the three 1973 GTO's that I found which were recently for sale. There were some others that were projects but I found three attractive cars which were recently for sale and one was sold at $24,000 while the others were priced right at $29,000 and it was converted to a 4 speed so it did not have its matching numbers Transmission and the third had a color change without the Sport option and was a Bench Seat 400 car with a Column shift Automatic and is priced at $18,900 and the car was nearly optionless. I guess what I'm getting to is that these cars are starting to come into their own and they having a fast growing following as people are starting to realize just how cool these cars are and that they drive extremely well. The 1973 GTO's were always very affordable and they still are in my opinion even with their recently escalating prices and new found interest. While your searching the Net for 1973 GTO's, I'm sure that you will find some other 73's for sale but your not likely to find another with such a Stunning Original Color Combination or with as many Cool Options as this 1973 GTO. Keep in mind that this car was with its Original Owner for many years which is likely the reason for it remaining so original after nearly 40 years. The car will come with a Folder filled with old receipts, registration cards, insurance cards, owners manual, warranty booklet, PHS Documentation and a nicely reproduced Window Sticker which I believe to have come from the gentleman who handles the PHS documentation. Please keep the questions coming and feel free to email me with any request for pictures or anything else that I can help you with. Please ask questions because its the best way to find out if this is a car that you'd like to bid on and remember that I welcome and recommend personal inspections so please come and see the car in person if your able to do so. Thanks again for all of the interest and have a healthy and happy holiday season... Tony 215-499-2693ABOVE: THE REFLECTIONS FROM THE SUN AND THE SHADED AREAS IN SOME OF THESE PICTURES MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THERE ARE DENTS OR DAMAGE BUT THERE ARE NO DENTS ON THIS CAR AND THERE ARE NO PAINT ISSUES OF ANY CONCERN IN MY OPINION. IM FAIRLY PICKY. ITS JUST A NICE GTO ... NOT NEW, NOT FLAWLESS BUT A REAL NICE 1973 GTO WITH ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING GOOD LOOKS AND ALL #'S MATCHING!!! THE DETAIL ON THESE JOHNNY LIGHTNING CARS IS PRETTY NICE FOR A SMALL CAR AND I BELIEVE THIS CAR TO BE WEARING RALLY II WHEELS AND BF GOODRICH RADIAL T/A TIRES JUST LIKE THE REGATTA BLUE 1973 GTO IN THIS AUCTION!ABOVE: THIS CLOSE UP OF THE LITTLE JOHNNY LIGHTNING 1973 GTO SHOWS THE COOL SMALLER VERSION OF THE 1973 GTO IN THIS AUCTION AND YOU CAN SEE THE BASEBALL STYLE CARD IN THE PACKAGING THAT SHOWS THE CAR AS WELL. THIS CAR APPEARS TO BE FINISHED IN THE DARKER ADMIRALITY BLUE WHICH WAS ONE OF 3 SHADES OF BLUE AVAILABLE ON THE 1973 GTO's WITH THE REGATTA BLUE BEING MY PERSONAL FAVORITE AND THERE WAS A MUCH LIGHTER PORCELIN BLUE THAT WAS ALSO AVAILABLE..... THE WHEELS COULD HAVE SHOWN MORE DETAIL BUT THE BF GOODRICH RADIAL T/A TIRES ARE CLEARLY SHOWN. THIS IS JUST A COOL LITTLE PIECE TO SHOW WITH THIS 1973 PONTIAC GTO IN THIS AUCTION AND WILL GO WITH THE CAR TO ITS NEW OWNER!ABOVE: THE BACKSIDE OF THE JOHNNY LIGHTNING PACKAGING TELLS THE STORY OF HOW JOHNNY LIGHTNING AND HIGH PERFORMANCE MAGAZINE TEAMED UP TO DO THIS COOL COLLECTOR SERIES OF THE HOTTEST PERFORMING AND BEST LOOKING PONTIACS!
