MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!! Hello, let me start by saying that I realize how stressful it can be to buy anything sight un-seen. I don't think a paragraph & 1 or 2 pictures is enough to accurately describe an item of any kind, let alone a motor vehicle. I understand that you may be in a different state or even a different Country & therefore are unable to come view this RARE Mercedes-Benz in person. I want you to know everything I know about anything I offer for sale. For that reason, my postings tend to be a little on the long side. I also post 24 super sized pictures. Please take the time to read the item description & view the pictures. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. All will be answered promptly. I have sold diesel vehicles to buyers all over the world. All members who have bought diesels from me have been extremely pleased with my performance & the items they have purchased from me, I'm sure you will be as well. Description- THIS IS A HARD TO FIND MODEL!!!!! Everyone loves the styling, comfort & ride of these W124 bodied vehicles. There are plenty of gasoline powered 300E's available, which share this same general body & interior.... however, very few of these Turbo Diesel powered 300D models were sold here in the US. In my opinion, they are the very best of anything Mercedes has ever offered. This 300D is tip top of the line! In 1991 MSRP on this car was just over $40,000.00!!! In today's money, that is well over 60 grand!!! This Diesel Benz cost about 3 times the price of an AVERAGE family in 1991. I will only own a diesel because they are so very durable. With this car, you have all of the engineering & highest quality that Mercedes has long been known for, without all of the endless up-keep you have to deal with on the gas models. These diesels just keep going & going with very basic mainenance. This amazingly clean Benz was recently traded in on a new Corvette at my local Chevrolet dealership. I happened to see it & bought it on the spot. I didn't need the car as I have 2 already but these diesels are so hard to find in this RUST FREE, WELL MAINTAINED, NEEDS NOTHING CONDITION..... I couldn't resist! I have seen what people want for nice 300D's on here. Most of them are over priced & don't sell. This super rare, SOUTHERN, diesel puts most of the others to shame! Plus this is a NO RESERVE auction so you know it is going to sell at a great price. I have owned several. I am very familiar with these Mercedes & this is a good one. Drivetrain- This vehicle is powered by the legendary 2.5 liter, in-line 5-cylinder, turbo diesel engine. Mercedes has been building some form of this engine since the early 1970's. They have improved & refined their design over the last decades until finally unveiling their masterpiece with this version. It is one of the most powerful & definitely the most reliable of them all. It performs with all the pep of a turbo, yet still enjoys AMAZING fuel economy! This car is showing a very low 177,101 miles... & it is easy to tell that it has been taken care of. This engine runs as good as the day it was born. I can find no problems with this Mercedes at all. No hard starting even on the coldest mornings. You can let this car sit for days & go out, hit the key & this diesel instantly comes to life. The oil pressure comes right up & stays up all day long. I see no major fluid leaks. I have learned over the years that every diesel weeps a little oil once it is broken in. This one is no different. However, NOTHING is wet & I have never noticed a single drip on my driveway. There are no abnormal noises. Nothing but smooth Mercedes-Benz power. I have personally owned MB 2.5 diesels with well over 700,000 miles that were still going strong without ever having had any major engine repairs. The power plant in this 300D should take you many more 100's of thousands of dependable miles & get 30+ Miles Per Gallon doing so! These engines are also easily adapted to run on alternative fuel sources, such as Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) or Used Motor Oil (UMO). If that is something that interests you. However, this particular vehicle has not been modified in any way & has never ran anything other than pump diesel. The transmission in this Benz shows no signs of wear at all. It shifts just as it should through every gear. I have never seen one of these cars with a transmission problem, EVER. The brakes do not pulsate & stop straight & true. Mechanically this entire vehicle seems to be in excellent condition. Body & Frame- This is a life long Southern vehicle so there is absolutely no rust or corrosion on anything anywhere. All of the body panels line up as they should. The door, hood, trunk hinges & latches are nice & tight. As to be expected with a used vehicle of this year & mileage, there are a few imperfections here & there. The only flaw worth mentioning is a very shallow indentation just behind the rear wheel opening on the driver's side. It looks almost as if it was hit by a basketball? The paint is not damaged & there are no creases or sharp edges. The area can be easily accessed from inside the trunk... so I feel it could simply be bumped back out. But it is so minor & hardly noticeable... I left it alone. Even with it's flaws... the body on this Benz is FAR above average! I see no evidence that the vehicle has ever been wrecked or repainted. We build high-end street rods & know a nice car when I see one. This is a very nice example of a 1991 300D! I did nothing more than hand wash & dry the car & you can see by the pictures that the paint still has a great shine. You can see the reflection of everything around the car in the paint. You can even see me in a couple of the pictures. I did not have this beautiful vehicle buffed or waxed & didn't touch up any chips or scratches as I wanted you to see it as it looks everyday. Just imagine how nice it would be with a good detail job! I absolutely love this Black over Pewter paint combo. It just screams HIGH DOLLAR VEHICLE!!! And the factory engine air intake gills on the right-front fender show the car's European Performance heritage. The under side of the vehicle is as clean as the outer body. Everything is straight, tight & free from corrosion. Interior- The best way to describe the interior of this Benz is by saying Beautiful!!! All of the doors open & close just like new. There is no hinge play or door sag at all. The inside of this 300D is as nice as the outside. The headliner looks great. There are NO cracks in the dash (rare on an older benz). There are no cracks in any of the trim or bezels (also rare). The front leather bucket seats are in very nice condition. There are no splits of tears. All of the power & heat functions of the front seats work just as they should. Even the memory settings & the power head rests! The leather rear seat upholstery is perfect. The lack of interior wear is a good indication that all of the miles put on this vehicle have been freeway miles! Another good indication is the lack of wear on the brake & accelerator pedals. Applying the brake frequently at red lights & when changing speeds in around town driving causes the pedal pads to wear thin over the years. The pedal pads in this vehicle shows LITTLE TO NO WEAR! Lack of wear on the seat & lack of wear on the pedals, equals lack of wear on every other part of the vehicle! The woodgrain accents in this Benz are PERFECT! All of the interior panel latches & hinges are perfect. The carpet is beautiful. There are NO odors. There are NO burn marks. The original lighter has NEVER been used. The ashtray has NEVER been used. Every aspect of this rare diesel Mercedes is in AMAZING condition! Options- It would take me an hour to list of of the options found on this Flagship Benz. You can bet that it has EVERY single option you could get in 1991! And EVERY single one of them IS WORKING just as it is supposed to! From the ice cold air conditioning & toasty warm heat put out by the dual climate control... to the central vacuum locking system for the door & trunk locks... to the power window & moon-roof... EVERYTHING WORKS! Tires & Wheels- This Benz is equipped with a set of factory 15 inch, alloy wheels. All four are in fantastic condition! No curb rash or bent places. All four are wrapped in GoodYear Radials which are wearing evenly & have 70-80% tread life remaining. The factory spare looks as if it has never touched the ground. The factory jack & tool kit are present. This vehicle drives straight & true. You will immediately be able to tell that this vehicle has been maintained properly... as soon as you get behind the wheel. Title- I have a clean, clear, fully transferable GA title on this vehicle. I own a small street rod shop & in order to purchase this car on the spot from the Chevrolet dealership, I had to buy it in my business name. This means that the sale is just like that on one of my streetrods & will be made through my dealership. If you are an out of state resident you will only pay your winning eBay bid amount. You are exempt from GA state sales tax. However, if you are a GA resident I must collect sales tax & pay it to the state on your behalf. The sales tax amount will be 7% of your winning bid amount. So if you are a GA bidder, you will have to pay 7% over your winning bid amount. If you are a non-Georgia bidder, you will not have to pay anything other than your winning bid amount. I DO NOT charge a doc fee or any other fees like most sellers on eBay do. What you bid is what you pay. * This is a TRUE auction! * NO RESERVE! * Low starting bid! * You set the final price! * Bid what you think the car is worth to you! * If you are the high bidder at the end... YOU WIN! BIDDING- Please only bid what you are prepared to pay for this vehicle. Anyone wishing to inspect the car or have the car inspected is welcome to do so but inspections must be completed prior to bidding & prior to auction's end. If you have little or no feedback please contact me prior to bidding. I realize everyone has to start somewhere & welcome your business but I must verify that you are a serious buyer if you have little or no buying history. I have encountered a couple of crooks/ scammers here on eBay who have cost me both time & money. This will no longer be tolerated so if you are not a SERIOUS buyer, PLEASE MOVE ON. All members with a genuine interest in this vehicle are more than welcome to ask questions. All will be answered promptly. If you look at my feedback comments you will see that all of the REAL buyers have been very happy after dealing with me. Many of the comments are from people who have been very happy with diesel trucks they have bought from me. SHIPPING- Shipping costs & arrangements are the responsibility of the buyer. However, I have assisted buyers & their shippers in the pickup of several vehicles over the years. I can recommend several shippers who have performed well for buyers in the past but you will have to make your own arrangements with them. I will work with you & your shipper so that they can get this car to you as fast & cost effectively as possible. However, no matter where you live, the point of sell will be here in GEORGIA as that is where I live & where the vehicle is located. As always, you are more than welcome to pick this vehicle up in person. I will be more than happy to pick you up at the Atlanta Airport or local Amtrac station, free of charge, if you would like to drive this truck home. This Mercedes is truly a rare find. The fact that it is a life long Southern vehicle & a new car trade-in means that you don't have to worry about rust or rust repair & you can bet that this car has been well cared for over the years. I even have all of the original manuals! Then add in the fact that this is a VERY RARE W124 Turbo-Diesel model which is well known for having the best ride & comfort characteristics of all the Mercedes models.... PLUS this big beautiful diesel will average OVER 30 miles per gallon!!!!!!! Combine that with the fact that it's never been wrecked or repainted... All of these things add up to make this the perfect vehicle for just about anybody. This car has obviously been well cared for! It seems to be 100% mechanically sound & cosmetically... well just look at the pictures! The car looks fantastic! You will be amazed at how well this Benz runs & drives! Everything is nice & tight both inside & out! There are no rattles or wind noise etc... NEVER SMOKED IN... It's just an all around rare find! NEW this diesel was over $40,000.00! Now this amazing vehicle is going to sell for a small fraction of that price! Diesels have become very popular in recent years. But EPA & other regulations have caused the newer vehicles to be less dependable than these classic models. This 300D does not have any of the problems you find with the newer models. These cars stand the test of time! This is a truly a rare find. Remember... NO RESERVE! Thanks for your interest in my Mercedes. I hope you win!! By placing a bid you agree to all terms laid out in this contract. On Dec-15-12 at 08:45:13 PST, seller added the following information: I have had several questions about maintenance records. This super tight Mercedes was recently traded in at a New Car Dealership. Due to privacy laws governing businesses in this country, the dealership had to remove any receipts which may have contained the previous owner's personal info. However, this is what I do have... I have ALL of the original books that came with the car when it was sold new. Inside one of those books is the card for a salesman at RBM Of Atlanta, which is a New Mercedes dealership located 40 miles from my home. I also have the original scheduled maintenance booklet that came with this car from the factory. The booklet shows that every single factory recomended service was performed by RBM Of Atlanta at the recomended mileage & stamped by the dealership to that effect. RBM did ALL of the service up until the 115,000 mile service. I would imagine that is about the time the second owner purchased the vehicle. I contacted RBM this morning & they verified that the car was sold new at their dealership & verified all of the service. It is super rare that an owner does EVERY SINGLE service at the dealer, once the vehicle is out of warranty. Even the service manager I spoke to this morning made a comment that the vehicle was serviced far more than average. It's easy to tell that the 2nd owner serviced the car properly as well. Just not at RBM. This 300D is so very tight, it is unbelievable! There are several signs that show pride of ownership by the 2nd owner. The tires a nearly new & GoodYear. Not an off the wall brand you might find on a vehicle that is not cared for by an appreciative owner. Same thing with the battery. It is a top of the line Interstate battery... not a cheaper AutoZone brand. In closing, I know for sure the car was purchased brand new right here in GA & has lived it's whole life within 40-50 miles of the dealership where it was purchased. This gives you the peace of mind that rust as NEVER been an issue & as long as you care for the car, never will be an issue. In my experience, even if a Northern vehicle doesn't look rusty, you WILL have problems caused by corrosion on brake lines, fuel lines, wire connectors etc... You will NOT have those issues with this rare Southern Mercedes. Also, you know that the car had ALL of it's proper break in period service & has continued to be serviced properly throughout it's life. Though the car is not new.... it is as nice of a 22 year old Mercedes as you are likely to ever find. Then add in the fact that this is a diesel & has the very limited production leather interior package... plus it's the absolute best color combo & has never been wrecked or repainted.... You just can't ask for more from a classic MB diesel! I hope this added info helps. Good luck should you choose to bid on this beautiful Benz. Thanks again, JD
