Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE Up for Auction is a 1985 Toyota Corolla GTS AE86 coupe in very hard to find all original condition. I looked hard to find one that was a solid running and driving Southern car as a The plan was to restore it, but plans have changed with work/ time travel requirements, and I also but I have too many cars to look after (13 including a Porsche and ZR1 corvette etc) Mechanical- Amazing numbers matching 4A-GE motor and 5 speed transmission. Starts with no smoke rattles and revs smoothly and freely all the way up to redline (wow). Transmission shifts very nice and the clutch engages very nicely making it very easy to drive. Has remote kill switch to start. Needs muffler but I kind of like the way it sounds especially at higher rpm's (it rips) Suspension is tight and steering is precise and light just perfect. This GTS is the most fun car I have (I've owned nsx's, Ferrari and now own many other sport cars) I am totally convinced and understand why this car is achieving collector car and cult status and is quickly appreciating in value as the car that car that started it all. ( I wish I had a huge warehouse to keep it) it brings a smile every time I drive it! Body- Solid hard to find all original paint and patina the pictures do not clearly show the minor scratches and dings and fading. Surface rust and body damage was sanded in few areas and treated/ primed to preserve. It will need minor bodywork to prep for new paint. All panels line up well and open and close well with the exception of the inner drivers door handle does not connect. Has NEW front windshield. Interior- What you see it was you get and that’s a solid starting point to customize or restore back to original. Major items that need attention are. Seats need redone (Aftermarket performance Seats?). Needs shifter knob (I can think of many options). Drivers door and kick panels needs help. Sunroof works great. The GTS is sold in as is condition and please realize this is a restoration project and driver in the current condition. The carfax states odometer discrepency but thats because the mileage should of read 100,000 miles more than the dmv recorded at the time with the previous owner. The miles are true and correct. I would prefer to have the prospective buyers come or send someone to test drive and have your mechanic inspect it. Please contact me if you have any questions to cover any details I might of left out before you bid. I want you to feel comfortable with the car and the seller before you bid. I understand what it feels like to buy long distance. I am also open to having it shipped if paid in full. I am a reasonable seller please contact me if you have any concerns. Thanks and have fun bidding On Dec-06-12 at 09:22:52 PST, seller added the following information: I was asked by an interested buyer about the car and I wanted to post this additional feedback I sent him. I bought it as a father and son project a while back but my situation at work has changed and I non longer have the time to invest in it. We decided the best was for my son to drive my 280zx turbo which needs very little work. The price is very reasonable because its a restoration project in my eyes. I realize it needs paint and bodywork plus interior work muffler etc. My nephew who is a drift enthusiast says its in great shape but he's looking at it through 21 year old eyes and would love to modify it to the max. I was thinking along the lines of keeping it original like I remember when I worked at Toyota back in 1985. I want the price to be fair with a no reserve at $1200 so there is no hard high expectations and lots room for mods or a restoration. The pictures make it look better than what it is in my opinion, but it does drive fun! Good luck bidding and let me know if you have any other questions. Mike
