Vehicle Detail

I pursued owning this car for over 3 years. She sat in the same driveway for a long time. I left countless notes under the windshield wiper and even spoke with neighbors hoping someone would connect me with the owner. Finally, we met up and a deal was made. As you can see from some of the other members in my collection that show in the background of these photos, I appreciate rare cars. This is going to be a rewarding and fairly easy car to take to the next level which is why I chased her down for so long. She sits proudly even being surrounded by the restored cars in my garage and is almost always the first car people walk over to. She's welcome to stay and I would have eventually enjoyed the process of making this rare car beautiful again but based on my life's busy schedule and the time the other members of my collection demand, it seems more appropriate to pass her on. Turning her into an L79 with a 327-V8 and Muncie transmission were my intentions. Being an original manual trans car would make the 4 speed installation extremely easy. The numbers matching factory 3 speed manual and 230 cubic inch 6cyl still power the car. All original body, paint, interior, etc. California car until coming to Portland Oregon in the 1990's. Never altered or restored in any way. Amazingly solid and original. These 2-door Post's have become all but extinct and this is one of the best unaltered examples anyone will find. The ugly duckling within my collection, Yes. The original Willow Green exterior paint (code HH) is faded and very thin. Numerous parking lot dings and minor battle scars are apparent. NO collision damage has EVER occurred. The previous elderly owner simply drove for a few years too long before parking the car over 15 years ago and she bumped and rubbed things along the way. The car is 100% bondo-free. A cleaner slate or blanker canvas cannot be found. All body panels are extremely solid and rust-free. Even the lower rocker panels, bottoms of fenders, doors and both rear quarters are rock solid. The front windshield and rear window both have minor rust in the seal channels (close-up photos provided) but an easy issue to rectify. The trunk and undersides of the car are also VERY solid. Even with all of the small character marks and bruises on the exterior, every piece of the impossible to get 300 Deluxe trim is still nice! Remarkable, but the trim and moldings are in impressive shape. Both bumpers have flaws. This car hides nothing. Condition simply tells her 47 year story. Nothing covered up, patched, filled-in or shined up. To you guys that live in States that have used salt on the roads during the winter, this car is the Holy Grail. Specific comments provided under some of the upcoming photos. The interior speaks for itself. It's terrible. The California sun did it's fair share and plain old neglect and age did the rest. The Fawn Beige vinyl with factory cloth inserts and rubber floor matting is completely day-one original. The exact match replacement kits are reasonably priced and readily available from several sources. Just about everything still works. All lights, gauges, speedometer, heater, wipers and horn are fully functioning. The factory AM radio is the only exception. Even the dome light comes on when you open the door. The original electrical system and wiring are 100% intact and in fine shape. The numbers matching drivetrain is powering the car to this day. The 230 cubic inch in-line 6cyl runs well. It's a little tired but she runs evenly on all 6 cylinders. Starts easily warm or cold. Slight smoke at first but nothing to worry about. Acceleration is good and I have driven the car here locally on a few occasions. The 3-on-the-tree transmission shifts smoothly and the clutch engages correctly without slippage or chatter. The brakes stop well and don't pull and the steering feels fine. Tires are aged and worn. It was never my intention to leave the original drivetrain components in-place, therefore, I have not closely inspected any of these mentioned items. I'm simply sharing that the car is currently functional and has felt road-worthy during my limited experiences behind the wheel. She's actually kind of fun to drive (uncomfortable driver seat aside) but certainly NOT up to a long distance journey. Putting a 327 under the hood connected to a 4 speed transmission will be easy to accomplish. I would have liked to be the one to do it. I will make a few brief comments under some of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my Chevelle in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 7 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday, the 11th of December at 7:00PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. Everyone, especially if you are outside of the U.S. or Canada or you have a low or (0) eBay rating, PLEASE SEE MY TERMS OF SALE provided below the last photo. PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable and kindhearted person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way. NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Chevelle. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE Again, all of the rare 300 Deluxe trim is in nice condition. I'm not sure how she managed to not damage it but I'm grateful. Crack in windshield. I believe this is also original. The original windshield seal stopped doing it's job years ago and has allowed rust to start at the bottom of the windshield channel. Grille area is actually pretty nice. Rear seal also stopped being water tight. NOT rust. This was caused as she rubbed a parking post many years ago. Cowl area is gorgeous. Factory back-up light delete. This will make a great sleeper. Lower quarters are excellent. The original trunk pan is very solid. Some water got in through the bad rear window seal but what you see here is just surface scale that would wire brush away and allow the trunk to be re-speckle sprayed. Inner fenders and firewall are outstanding. Detailing the engine compartment to high original standards after installing a V8 will be simple. Just a little drain hole. I get excited when they've NEVER been undercoated. Gotta love California cars and never being exposed to salted roads. Please notice the only underbelly rust issue above the cross member on the drivers sides. Close-up shown below. This area is isolated where the drivers feet would be. Years of allowing the windshield seal to leak caused water to collect and sit in this small area. The rest of the floor pans are very solid. I really will miss this Chevelle and look back and wonder why I didn't enjoy the process of doing the car myself. This is how we hope to find them and there isn't a better one to start with. Rewarding is an understatement. Thanks again- Terms of Sale: 47 year old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following:I have described my Chevelle honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic vehicles. I have faith in the drivability of this car and to my knowledge everything is in safe working order per my written description above. I have the free and clear Oregon title in my possession. I have driven the here locally several times without concern but she is 47 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected based on her age and originality. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see her for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. -PAYMENT TERMS-A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due in-full within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending. TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. They have handled the movements of my collection and all of my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1400.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. I will stay involved throughout this entire process and help in any way possible. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
