Vehicle Detail

I am selling this 1947 Ford truck, VIN# 340951 Model# 7GY1. I acquired the truck as a project but have too many projects & will not have the time or money to complete this one in the near future. The truck has a clear signed title with matching numbers from 1978 and was parked and stored inside from 1978 until 2011. I was told that the truck had been driven to the location I picked it up from 30 plus years prior to me getting it. THE GOOD: This is a non running 1947 Ford 1 ton truck with a unseized flathead 6 CYL engine and 3 speed manual transmission, all the tires are holding air and the truck will roll fine onto a trailer. From what I can tell the truck is all factory original with the exception of a electric fuel pump added at some point. I believe that the truck is still on a 6V system but not 100% sure. Mechanically the truck appears to have been well taken care of, brake lines look good, engine is not seized and will roll over with socket and with starter hot wired (I did not want to take a chance hooking up a battery to the original wiring). Transmission will shift through the gears, clutch is free and operable. Steering works well and does not appear to have any issues. I have many of the trim parts, hood latch/hinges, front signals and headlight assembly(minus the headlights themselves). The truck also had new spark plugs and wires added at some point. The frame assembly looks very solid and straight, the seat is in good condition and many if not all of the interior knobs and buttons are still intact. THE BAD: The body is in fair to poor condition, the floor is rusted through along with the cab corners. The doors have some rust along the bottom edges and minor dents. There has been some body work done to the front fenders remove some rust and dents. The passenger side fender has been partially rebuilt and the curve does not appear to match the hood line so there are some corrections that will need to be made to get things to fit. The driver's side fender has some dents that need to be pounded out and filled. The front header panel has had the grille removed and has some rust and will likely need a complete replacement. The instrument panel is inoperable and will likely need a replacement as well. It appears that the truck has an oil leak someplace as the engine has some sludge collected on the driver's side of the block near the oil filter assembly. I do not have the box for the truck or anything from the cab back as far as body parts. All the glass was removed from the truck and will need total replacement. The brake master cylinder needs a kit put in it, there is no brake pressure but lines etc look okay. It also appears that at some point there was a leak in the radiator and there appears to be some degree of rust in the cooling system. I bought the truck to fix up and drive it & I think that with an afternoon of tinkering it would get running. I have not tried to start and run the truck because it sat for 30 plus years and I have not checked the fuel tank, cooling and oil system to make sure I would not be destroying something once it fires up. I have oiled the cylinders prior to turning the engine over, and believe the engine has good compression. This would be a good project truck for someone looking for a unique vehicle to drive around in that does not mind building a flatbed and some patch welding and body filler, or a good parts truck as the truck is mechanically complete and appears to be in very good mechanical shape. I have only owned this truck for a couple years, based on what I have checked prior to buying it myself and prior to listing it for sale I have not found anything to lead me to believe that this truck was not drivable prior to being parked in the late 70's. I don't know much about the old Fords, I have done my best to describe this vehicle to a potential buyer, if you have specific questions that I have not answered in the listing feel free to ask, I will try to give you as honest assessment as I can on any specific concerns or questions you may have & send pictures as needed. Sold as is, Pay Pal or Cash. Buyer responsible for pick up, $100 deposit via Pay Pal within 48 hrs of close of auction. Good luck and Happy Bidding!
