Vehicle Detail
hello, found this car in a shed attached to a barn, when i stoped to help a farmer who was working on his old truck. we made a deal and i brought it home. here is what he told me, and then the things i have done to the car. first he said that the car originally was from virginia. then it was brought up here in 1988 by his neighbor. then he bought it in 2000. it pretty much has been sitting its whole life. the speedometer show s 17,286 miles and the title says 18,500 and to be actual. i brought it home and after new points, plugs, and fuel pump it is up and running. it does run rather well, and the clutch is good as well as the trans. i drove it down a few back roads. if it had brakes you could drive it home. as long as it was not across country.tires have good tread but is slightly dry rotted, they should be replaced. headlights work, taillights work, wipers and oil gauge work. carries good oil pressure. the dash is very good. as well as the steering wheel. it does have a complete interior, but it has seen better days. all chrome is there, but in need of rechroming. all stainless is there and in decent shape. all glass is present. the wing windows have small cracks and the bottom of the windsheild has alittle fogging. frame is solid and strong, no holes of weak spots. just some surface rust. fenders are great, not perfect but good. bottom of door are fairley sold, basicaly just need sanded and painted. inner fenders in the rear very solid. under the hood including the firewall is very solid. there are two small patch penels, one under each tail light. i will try to get a good picture of this. the fender seams were filled years ago. i sanded them alittle smoother and primered them. i pulled the floor mat in the car and trunk, and here is what i found. first of all, i wire brushed any surface rust then treated the floor with ospho(rust inhibitor) . from the front seat forward and including the firewall is great, no holes ,not even a thin spot. but right behind the front seat on each side is a hole. on the drivers side it is about the size or a tennis ball and a little along the rocker..on the passenger side the hole behind the seat is about the size of two soft balls. the center of the floor in the rear is very good. under the back seat, the center of the floor is good but does have some rust along the out side edge. you would not have to repalce the floor, just patch it up a little in the back here and there. the trunk is good ,to very good shape. the only rust i seen is along the very edge where it was spot welded to the rear quarters by the tail light, again, not perfect but very nice. in general the car runs and drives good for its age and is still in decent shape for its age, you could cruise it the way it is. i have tried to show the good with the bad, so there are no surprises. if you have any questions give me a call 330-280-0926 mick On Nov-27-12 at 15:59:35 PST, seller added the following information: forgot to say the radiators, hold water very well. no holes of any kind.
