Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II 1979 Stunning 2-tone Burgundy ~ ("Regal red" over "Garnet") What can you say about this stunning combination Silver Shadow II finished in 2-tone Regal red (metallic burgundy) over Garnet (non-metallic port wine colour) with hand-painted fine lines in cream to the waist lines and the hubcap beauty rings. The Connolly interior is finished in cream/light tan with rich burgundy piping. The interior makes for a striking combination with the exterior. This is a California car and has been so its whole life. This Silver Shadow II sports the very rare sun-roof option. These were special order when new and were an astronomical $10,000 per unit! It is an original presenting Silver Shadow II that was recently restored by the Park-Ward Motor Museum - a nation-wide leader in Rolls-Royce restoration with over 30 years Rolls-Royce and Bentley experience. This Shadow II is very straight and the paint is in virtually perfect condition having recently undergone a back-to-bare-metal repaint by Park-Ward. The car was painted in its original factory delivered colours. The finish is entirely consistent, very shiny and deep lustered and is without a single scratch, chip, mark or blemish of any kind. The fine lines were hand-painted by a craftsman of the art and these were done on the waist-rails and hubcap beauty trim rings in accordance with Rolls-Royce factory recommendations. All the brightwork was removed from the car and machine and hand buffed to a lustrous finish before refitting. Even the door opening scuff plates were done. The whole paint and reassembly process is a $15,000 investment. The interior is exquisite. The Connolly leather is in excellent condition throughout without any notable marks or blemishes. It is finished in light cream (Magnolia) with rich burgundy piping. It still shows its "toned" finish which is the original Connolly burnishing method. If you look at the pictures of the interior, there are some close up shots that clearly show the colour is not just plain light tan, but with a “burnished” tone to the leather. You can see the light tan base and then in the fine natural grain of the leather is a darker tone. This natural quasi “antique” leather look (like a Chesterfield couch) was achieved by the hand rubbing Connollising technique that made this leather so famous and for which its name now describes the correct procedure for refinishing leather – “Connollising”. Leather that has been re-dyed by typical methods is “mono-toned” featuring only the 1 primary colour. The burl walnut wood finishes are all completely redone and are simply stunning. The finish is smooth like glass and very rich in colour and grain. The process involves no less than 25 coats of clear laquer, each hand-rubbed to achieve a very deep appearance. Something here at Park-Ward we are very proud of. The wood in this car is the Milanese deep burl walnut finish option and is breath-taking. I think it is difficult not to describe the interior as anything less than striking! Please have a look at the photo link of the many close-ups of the leather. The dash is good with no leather pulling around the vents and the rear parcel shelf is very good. The Westminster carpets are in perfect condition (not a single wear-mark or stain) and come with a set of lambswool mouton “over-rugs” for their protection. The boot (trunk) carpet with the same beige and burgundy binding theme is also in good condition. All glass, chrome and bright work are excellent. All lights, instruments, features and functions are in working order. Mechanically, the car has been subject to the 30 year service and restoration experience of the Park-Ward Motor Museum's private workshop and trained RR mechanics and craftsmen. *Like every other car delivered by Park-Ward it comes with everything in excellent working and operating condition, fully inspected and serviced. This includes the all important hydraulics & brakes - fully inspected and pressure tested with any parts replaced and/or over-hauled as required - reservoir, pumps, accumulators, valves, lines, hoses, calipers and pads. All electrics; seats, windows, gauges and instruments have been fully gone thru and serviced as required. The climate control is in good working order with the heater nice and hot and the air conditioning blowing icy cold. In summary, the car is shipped with everything fully operational, down to the smallest light bulb. As you would expect, the car comes with its correct operating manual, jack and original tool-kit. A European style front air dam (standard on all Silver Shadow IIs world-wide with the exception of North American cars) has been fitted. This is a lovely touch as it presents the front of the car much nicer and gives it a "bolder" look. Good, clean and straight Californian cars are becoming increasingly difficult to find. This one is an extremely beautiful presenting example that is well in advance of average Silver Shadow IIs and is in excellent presentation and condition. A strong 9 & 1/2 out of 10. ~~ A striking combination Silver Shadow II in its 2 tone Burgundy colour scheme. Truly a beautiful and a very fine representation of the marque. The name of the colour, "Regal Red", is true to its form as this Rolls-Royce is very stately in appearance that makes quite the Royal statement! When our Rolls-Royces are commissioned for resale, they are indeed professionally and correctly “fully work-shopped”. No corners are cut. And it is all addressed in true Crewe tradition. There is way too much to list here but to give you an example of our commitment to excellence of the various processes, this is one such example of what we do: Doors and windows:- Every car has its interior door panels removed. If the wood is in need of repair (as most are) it is refinished in-house by trained and talented craftsmen at Park-Ward Motors. This is a detailed process of stripping the wood of its old lacquer, repairing the veneer if there is damage, staining the top surface as per Rolls-Royce methodology and refinishing with no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer. Hand wet-sanded and polished between all of its last 15 coats. New window felt guides and wood-to-glass foam seals are fitted. All window mechanisms are checked and serviced for smooth and efficient up and down movement. This includes an electrical modification to rectify the typical “slow window syndrome”. All tracks, chains and gears are lubricated. Where central locking is fitted, these are all serviced to ensure no “solenoid sticking”, another common problem. Units are repaired and or changed as required for refurbished units. Door wiring and door-to-body wiring is checked, repaired and/or replaced as required. The splash plastic on the inside of the doors to protect the leather panels from rain splash from inside the door is replaced with correct specification black plastic as used by the factory. Cut to shape and glued in position as per original. All door hardware is checked and repaired as required including locks, handles and scuttle finishes. The door is reassembled with all items cleaned and polished. The wood refitted and the leather panels are re-Connollised before final fitment. Take this example and apply it to the many, many different aspects of Rolls-Royce restoration, service and maintenance and you have our dedication to correct and professional vehicle pre-delivery preparation and commissioning. **PLEASE read auction terms and conditions below BEFORE bidding.** ~~oo00oo~~ This Rolls-Royce is part of a private collection. Further, and very importantly, these cars are classic cars also because they are old. So this means a 25 year old car is predominantly comprised of 25 year old parts. And old parts will fail. All buyers must understand and expect that things can or will wear out, break and/or stop functioning without notice. This is even more likely with hand-built English cars of early technology when compared to the typical American car of the same vintage. Please note, fitted radio/stereo systems are usually subject to upgrade by purchasers so I do not ensure operation of these. Similarly, cruise control systems fitted to these classics were of an inferior design and I do not check or warrant the operation of these. Suspension and brakes on these cars are complex. We thoroughly check them and replace things that are identified faulty. But please understand, by example; if we change a brake line because it appears aged or faulty, we do NOT at the same time replace all other hoses because they are of similar age. This is considered "preventative maintenance". We do not do this unless specifically requested and is not included in the purchase price. Feel free to ask for this additional service. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 25 years old. This is the nature of any classic car and especially a Rolls-Royce which was very "complicated" for its era. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. At least, I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars in enclosed carriers from where I bought them to my home. Further, Rolls-Royces are not without nuances, idiosyncrasies and they are renown for a host of design issues which can make them not inexpensive to maintain. This is well documented in many circles. You need to be a special and considerate type of purchaser to own a Rolls-Royce. Their down-side is part of the fun in owning them!
