1973 Mercedes 280 SEL 4.5 LWB Collector Car Rust free California West Coast Car-Restored Rare combination Black/Black Leather Interior and Rare Factory Electric Sunroof….never seen one like this in the US. Very low reserve…appreciate your interest. Proud to offer for sale this 2 owner US version of 280 SEL with a 4.5 engine approx. 58360 miles with a clean VA title on-hand and always garaged. Unfortunately the only proof of the mileage I have is the previous State of California Registration Card with the above mileage. The car recently went through a complete interior and exterior restoration. The picture link below does have some restoration pictures. This does interest a lot of people as a beautiful black beauty in a time capsule from the German 70s era… All fluids checked and changed when necessary. Complete interior and exterior restoration. Not a pebble beach restoration but a darn good one which will make the new buyer satisfied. More than $15000 in restoration receipts. No engine, transmission or differential leaks. Engine oil and filter changed. New air filter. Brakes are fine now … New rotors and premium pads for all 4 wheels installed. The hood does have a new OEM hood insulator. Battery New. Cost $850 Transmission: Column shift transmission. Serviced and with no hesitation in shifting. Column shift indicator works. There is no leaks. Under Chassis: Clean and dry with no oil leaks. Dash: Dash pad and cover new. Cost $100. Clock: Works Paint: The paint is original DB040 " black" … new paint. No surface rust. There is a small dent quarter size on the corner of the left passenger door. (See picture) A lot of work was put into the preparation, and finishing. The original lacquer paint was stripped and sanded down and triple coat was applied. It looks like the car was never painted before when the original factory lacquer paint was stripped. (Cost approx. $4000) Rubber: Car has mostly all new rubber…All 4 OEM door rubber door sills are new, front windshield and rear window rubber gasket, all 4 doors and trunk rubber gaskets. All four door frame gaskets. Cost $500 Suspension System: No issues. Replace front and rear struts/shocks OEM Parts/Bilsteen, new sway bar links, new tie rods less than 100 miles ago. Cost $ 700. Leather/Carpet/Headliner: Brand New OEM spec leather…completely interior redone in California. The car has new floor carpets, floor mats black and headliner..all professionally special ordered and installed in California. Cost $6000 Steering: Steering is tight. Steering wheel and horn pad are clean and looks very nice. Radio: Has a new Pioneer set but the original Becker does come with the sale. Door Panels: All door panels and caps are new with new boards covered with new black leather. Professionally also installed in California. Cost: $1000. Door Lock: Doors vacuum locks do not work. Could be a vacuum leak. Tires: 4 NEW white wall tires installed - Hancock Optimo H724 Size 205/70/14…Cost $400 Glass: All glass are excellent with no cracks/scratches. All windows regulators do operate for a smooth glass movement. Rear Hat Shelf: New carpet, has Pioneer speakers but do have the original Becker speakers. Wood: The woodwork is all restored professionally in California..wood around the windshield, dash, windows are restored. Cost $2000. Air Condition/Heat: AC might need a charge. Compressor does come on, Heat works as well as the blower. The heater levers are not broken and they do slide. Horn: Works..added additional Bosch Imported Chrome Horns in front. Cost $200. Chrome: All interior/exterior chrome are beautiful with a shine to it. There are some small dings in the rear bumper but the bumper rubber is straight and good. Trunk: Clean with the original rubber mat, tools, spare tire. Electrical: Instrumental Cluster recently serviced with all new bulbs. All electric work including power windows switches, wipers, horn, interior/dash/exterior lights including the trunk light. Even the original Hirschman antenna (non-electric) works. Electric sunroof: Serviced and greased. New front/rear rubber. Works fine as it supposed too. Cost $200 Documentation: The car comes with a fair amount of maintenance and parts receipts, manuals, original data card, Becker Europa factory manual, etc.. A $1000.00 deposit (non-refundable) will be required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. If all the funds are not received as indicated above, I reserve the right to keep the deposit and resell the vehicle by re-listing or to another bidder.
