Vehicle Detail
We are a new dealer and feedback is as important as price to us and may sell a vehicle at a lower price that most just to gain customers and build our reputation. PLEASE ONLY BID WHAT YOU CAN AFFORD..... about this 1971 Pontiac GTO; this is a real "242" 1971 GTO. I purchased the shell in october 2007. the rear quarters have been repaired. the repair panels were from "original parts group inc.", and were cut to size and welded in. the front fenders were also patched with metal from "original parts group inc" and welded in. the trunk is rusty, i will include a complete 3pc trunk pan kit, uninstalled. As you can see in the pictures, the work was being done outdoors, in the fall, so after the patching was done, the car was painted; unfinished, just for surface protection while being stored outdoors. The body will need finish sanding, small dings repaired and paint. The car was painted only to protect my progress. I call it "a protective coating". It is being stored in a garage now. The car still turns heads, and looks great going down the road. The original 400 ci engine has been replaced with a 455 ci engine. This engine was recently rebuilt and has less than 100 hours run time on it since the rebuild. The block was dipped, fluxed, honed, and new cam bearings installed. the crank, rods and pistons were reconditioned, and new bearings were installed. The heads were upgraded to 6x8 for about 9:1 compression so it would run on regular fuel. they have 2.11, and 1.66 valves. The cam was upgraded to a 068 pontiac ram air cam. rochester quadrajet The engine runs great and has very good oil pressure. the transmission is a turbo hydromatic 400, and was rebuilt, and upgraded with a "trans go" shift kit. The seats are old and need recovered as one might expect in a 40 year old car. the driver seat has the most wear; the others dont look bad but are drying out. The door panels and rear side interior panels are in good condition. The dashboard has been recovered and looks very nice. The factory gauges work fine. The correct speedometer gears need to be installed. The car has 15" Ralley II rims with new tires. recently replaced: new tires new alternator new battery new belts and hoses new starter new hood tach new "PYPES" 2.5" stainless dual exhaust new brake master cylinder new fuel pump new back bumper The car also has boxed lower control arms and a factory rear swaybar. This car runs and drives great. it is very reliable, and gets "thumbs up" every time i drive it. It wont take much to finish this into a beautiful cruiser.
