Vehicle Detail

*Listing for a family member* This car has been in my family since new, purchased by my late grandmother new, then passed to my aunt in 1987 who still has the car but can no longer manage it. The Buick Skylark is a relatively uncommon A-body convertible and 1972 was the last year for this desirable body style. The Custom trim level was considered slightly "luxurious" compared with the slightly more "muscular" versions, but this Buick has lots of style and great muscle car potential. The car is about a 4 or 5 on the Old Car Price Guide condition scale (1 pristine, 6 only useful for parts). The car is original and unmolested as shown in the pics, but unfortunately has been stored outside for many years. At some point, the convertible top developed leaks and was not repaired promptly, so plenty of water got in over time before the top was replaced. Replacement white top is about 4 years old (a guess on my part). Car runs and drives, but not that well, passed recent safety inspection, but seems to have timing issues and has a hard time staying running. With a little tinkering, should drive onto a trailer for transport (as I was able to do in pics). 86K miles is original to the car. The car needs total restoration but all is there. For the body, there's significant rust in the floor pans (rust through in front and rear, worse on front passenger and both rear but plan for all pans needing replaced). Trunk floor also looks to need at least some patching but full of junk and can't tell the extent of rust, some rust through seen. Remainder of body has some minor rust but not as severe as floors. There's some small spots of soft metal along the bottom edge of one door; I don't see any other rust through elsewhere that stands out or is obvious or stands out in memory (I saw the car and took these pics in June). Car does have evidence of rear collision damage also, and the left quarter panel is covered in a thick layer of bondo and looks buckled outward slightly with some alignment issues evident on rear sheet metal (hard to tell how much with all the bondo), but plan for a left quarter repair or replacement at a minimum. Unsure the extent of the collision damage as someone attempted repair looks like a long time ago. Has optional factory 175 HP 4bbl 350 V8 engine (VIN code J in 5th position). This is a great, original hard-to-find convertible with only 3,608 total built, good for full restoration or parts for your better-bodied convertible. Car is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty expressed or implied. No reserve, so bid and it's yours. $250 deposit due within 48 hours of auction end via Paypal with winning bid, remainder due as certified funds upon pick-up (cash, cashier's check, money order). Will not arrange shipping, winning bidder must make all arrangements and is responsible for any loading, etc. Clear Texas title. Car is located in the Dallas-Ft Worth, Texas area. I'm listing this car for my aunt but am happy to answer any questions I can, so feel free to email. Happy bidding and thanks for looking!
