Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a very unique and rare, high caliber 1970 Chevelle SS LS5 Convertible. Red/black 454 A/C, 4 spd, power windows, power door locks, power steering and power brakes with bucket seats, Cowl Induction Hood, FM stereo. Rare, original options. National show winner with a Platinum First Place award at the National Chevrolet show scoring 980 points out of 1,000 (see document below). Balance of points since corrected. Body off, rotisserie restoration done with original parts, not reproduction pieces, on a rock solid southern car. This car was bid to a high of $70,000 at the Mecum St. Charles auction on October 27th (see notice below). Spec data on this car below. My personal collection of national award winning cars is known to many for over 35 yrs. My insistence on meticulous detail is also very well known. With my leather business we are constantly involved with collectors and restoration shops whose cars are displayed at Pebble Beach, Amelia Island, Meadow Brook, etc. I am often involved with notables such as Jay Leno, Ralph Lauren, RM, Gooding, etc. I purchased this car from the renowned Ricobene Museum Collection in Chicago ten years ago. Since purchased I have continually upgraded it to national award winning standards. As to “numbers matching”: Those who know, know that without an honest “build sheet” other spec data must be relied on, and many are now offering “reproduction build sheets” for any car!! I was approached at the Mecum Auction and offered a package of cowl tag with rivets, window sticker and build sheet for this car, done to perfection for $750. Man claimed to have paper stock for the window sticker and build sheet from his uncle’s print shop who printed these items for GM many years past. And he knew exactly how to “distress” them to look perfectly original with stains and wrinkles as to be expected. I have no build sheet for this car, but after ten years of living with the car’s every nut and bolt I can tell you this car has every spec detail for this car as described for a 1970 Chevelle SS LS5 convertible with accessories as are on the car. Engine: Chevrolet 454 LS 5 360 HP Casting No. 3963512 Stamp: T 112 CRN Heads: Chevrolet 3964291 Valve size: 2.06/1.72 Combustion Chamber: 100.967 A/C: Frigidaire: Model No. 5910747 Transmission: Muncie 4 spd Code: P 0609 June 9, 1970 Rear End: 12 Bolt 3:31 #3699278NF CON4/D7 GM61 Suspension: Special Hi-Performance LS 5 Front and Rear Front Coil Springs: HD 3960686 GC (for 454 block) Selective Rate: 1,046+ Rear Coil Springs: HD 3960652 OQ (for 454 block) Front Sway Bar: HD 1 1/8” diameter – 454 LS 5 Cowl Tag Info: ST 70 13667 B 708527 BDY TR 790 55 APNT 1 A B 0730 Color This Car: Body color 75 Cranberry Red/ Blk racing stripes Interior Color: Black Bucket Seats To Conclude: Every component on this car has been rebuilt to spec. It runs and drives like new, no better than new. I believe it to be truly one of the best 1970 LS 5 SS convertibles in the world. One example of my insistence on perfection-Interior: I always take the seats down to springs, bead blast, shoot with clear. All new stuffing/foam upholstery materials and coverings. Floors down to bare metal/ primer then paint, thin layer of sound deadening material then naturally new carpet. Dash taken apart to firewall, new firewall pad, all under dash components restored. My cars all smell new as there no old mold/mildew collecting elements not restored/replaced. Last I will note. The paint job on this car is Pebble Beach quality. In fact was done by a shop that does many Pebble Beach cars, Chicago Restorations, Inc. Body panels are original and laser straight with jaw dropping brilliance to shine and depth of color. Mileage listed as 100, only because a numerical value had to be entered. Please contact me with any questions.
