1988 Lotus Esprit Anniversary Edition #57 of 88 The Lotus Esprit has stood as an iconic super car since it's introduction in 1977. Norfolk's super car received several enhancements over the years and became the objects of desire for millions of enthusiasts with screen time in such classics as the James Bond Series, Basic Instinct and Pretty Woman. 1988 brought a major redesign of the icon by legendary automotive stylist Peter Stevens. The new design smoothed and modernized the original Giorgetto Giugiaro shape from the early seventies while retaining it's aggressive stance and overall character. This 1988 Lotus Esprit Turbo is a limited anniversary edition with only 88 cars produced. This is #57 of 88. My car was featured in the May 2012 issue of Forza Magazine (for Ferrari enthusiasts) and was compared head to head with the 1988 Ferrari 328 on a cloudy day in Malibu. This Lotus features a beautiful pearl white body, with an ice blue interior accented by suede and navy panels, pearl white wheels and mirrors, and a strut mounted rear spoiler. Its fast and handles like only a Lotus can. The body is quite nice with some clear coat peeling on the back deck. There is also some damage to the rear lower spoiler as shown in the pictures. The interior is worn in spots. The mechanical details have been attended to. Both fuel pumps, both widow motors, alternator, starter, air conditioning compressor and dryer, fuel injectors, throttle cable, clutch master cylinder, distributor and both fuel tanks have been replaced. The front rotors have been replaced with vented rotors and the clutch hydraulic line replaced with a braided stainless model. The standard air filter has been replaced with a K&N high performance filter. Stock headlights have been replaced with Hella quartz headlights with 90w blue bulbs. An Eclipse power amp enhances the original Sony system with McIntosh speakers, front and rear. Michelin Pilot Exaltos all around. The clutch is slipping, but other than that, it runs like a charm. The speedometer/odometer is broken and the mileage is unknown. The odometer reads 27004 miles. The air needs a recharge and I've misplaced the passenger window switch. The CD changer has been removed in place of a plug for an music player (iphone, etc...) All repairs were executed at Viking Motorsports. I've set a reasonable reserve.
