Vehicle Detail

1963 Studebaker GT Hawk R2 Up for auction this week is my 1963 GT Hawk. It's the third Hawk off the factory line with an R2 engine. The car was sold new in California and spent most of its life there, and as a result is 100% rust free. A few years ago it went to a collector in Florida, and three years ago I purchased the car and brought it here to Kentucky. For any questions or information, call Matt at 270-993-9393. During my three years of ownership, a lot of love and attention has been given to the old girl. There are no rattles, no squeaks, this car is "turn key", ready to be shown or driven anywhere. The original R2 engine and supercharger have been professionally rebuilt and she runs as strong as an R2 should. Inside it's all stock, except for the addition of R3 intake valves. The clutch and pressure plate are also new. The T10 4 speed shifts great. I added a new Hurst shifter but kept the original shifter stalk, so it looks stock but shifts 100% better than original. I added new Halibrand-style wheels with correct style spinners and to me, they really "make" the car. Even amongst a row of GT Hawks, this one stands out! A few of the body panels have been repainted with a perfect match, but over half of the paint on this car is the factory original Ermine White. You can't tell the difference between the original or the new stuff; it's all just that nice. No scratches, no dents, no dings.. And no rust! Her back end is pretty cute too! I restored the deck lid overlay and it's perfect. The bumpers have been rechromed, but all other chrome is very nice original or NOS. The stainless has also been straightened and polished. I had an accurate style reproduction dealer sticker made for the original dealer in Carmichael, California. The black CA license plate shown doesn't go with the car. However, I do have the original pair of CA black plates from this car that are included in the sale. Her interior is just as nice and presentable as the exterior. The carpeting, headliner, and seat coverings are new. The last known NOS cloth inserts were used in the seats, with all the vinyl being a perfect match to the original. The floor mats are exact reproductions from a Studebaker vendor and really finish the interior off nicely. She has full instrumentation. And yes, every gauge, switch, and everything else works as it should. An original AM/FM radio! And you bet, it works too. Original door panels.. All the windows wind up and down smoothly and effortlessly. Correct map pockets on the back of the front seats.. An incredibly inviting rear seat, with center arm rest. Over the past two years, I have managed to have the car at three major national shows. She scored Best of Division at both the 2011 and 2012 Studebaker Drivers Club International Meet, and took home a second in class at the recent Keeneland Concours d'Elegance. Needless to say, the car shows very well. How's that for a sanitary engine room? As stated earlier, everything under the hood is new or rebuilt. The engine that it left the factory with, JTS 1008, is still in place. She starts right up and pulls like a Supercharged 289 would be expected to. This view is pretty nice to look at, too. The body tag showing number 154, and the original 4 speed streamer tag. And the original serial number tag... A reproduction window sticker, showing just what the car is, and how it's equipped. If original paperwork is more your thing, well, I have that too. Now, let's talk about what's on the underside of her party dress... There's no rust, that's for certain. New shocks all around.. Everything is detailed as it would be originally. As factory-fresh as you can get 50 years later. New U-joints, and note the lack of fluid drips.. New lower power steering hoses. I had new HD front springs installed, and all new bushings in the control arms. She's tight! Still no drips or leaks! What's not to love? Just as the factory would've done it. How's that for clean and factory original? Sometimes pictures need no captions.. But hey, check out those lighted fender inserts! The car is being sold as is, where is, with no warranty implied. Shipping and/or transport is the responsibility of the buyer. A non-refundable $1000 deposit is due within 24 hours of the auction ending, with the remainder to be paid in full within 3 week days via cash, money order or wire transfer. I also reserve the right to end the auction early for any reason. Thanks for looking, and good luck!!
