Standard Equipment Includes: 1988 Mercedes Benz Hardtop FULLY SERVICED BEAUTIFUL BLUE EXTERIOR WITH A DOVE GRAY LEATHER INTERIOR 59K ORIGINAL MILES ORIGINAL OWNER’S MANUAL AND WARRANTY CARD EXTENSIVE SERVICE RECORDS MATCHING #’S ENGINE 5.6 LITER/ 227-HORSEPOWER AND 279 POUNDS FEET OF TORQUE 16” WHEELS WITH VIRTUALLY NEW 225 55 16 TIRES AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AIR CONDITIONING POWER WINDOWS POWER LOCKS AFTERMARKET CD STEREO FOUR WHEEL DISC BRAKES POWER BRAKE BOOSTER FULLY GALVANIZED CHASIS I am a certified mechanic and thoroughly inspected the vehicle prior to working on it over the years. The Mercedes has had the needed service since purchasing it. We recently replaced the air filter, replaced the belts, replaced the tires and flushed the engine oil, trans oil, brake fluids, power steering fluid and cooling system. Spark plugs, cap, rotor and plug wires were all replaced with all intake gaskets and hoses. I also changed the valve cover gaskets and several vacuum lines. The entire AC system was rebuilt with new lines and parts. I also had to change a light bulb in one of the switches. It is one of the nicest vehicles I have seen from this period. I replaced the catalytic converters and exhaust. No significant leaks or problems that I can detect anywhere on the vehicle prior to the collision. All the lights work both interior and exterior. I make sure to use good injector cleaner to keep the engine running at peak performance. The steering system operates flawlessly. The wheel bearings, axles, and suspension systems all look and feel in excellent condition. It has a recently new battery. The brakes are all in excellent condition. All the electrical gauges and interior electronics operate without problems. The chrome is in good shape as well. The car started without hesitation after weeks of being parked in the garage. There is also the original owner’s manual, the factory service history file and two sets of keys. It has new wiper blades and spare oil filters. I also recently did a compression and leak down test of the engine and here is what I found: Cylinder #1 179psi with 3% Leakdown Cylinder #2 177psi with 3% Leakdown Cylinder #3 178psi with 2.5% Leakdown Cylinder #4 179psi with 2% Leakdown Cylinder #5 177psi with 3% Leakdown Cylinder #6 179psi with 2% Leakdown Cylinder #7 180psi with 1.5% Leakdown Cylinder #8 180psi with 1.5% Leakdown The Bad: It got into a collision, enough said. It was a sweet car and can be again. I wouldn’t expect to be able to repair and flip this and make thousands, but if you as a skilled craftsman you can make it perfect for about $3000 in parts off ebay and probably 130 man hours. This Mercedes can be picked up with a car carrier as long as they do inoperable car as it rolls and steers easily on location and I will help to arrange loading 24-7 at no cost. It should only cost about $450 to ship this to Southern or Northern California, $650 to Texas, $800 to Chicago, and about $1000 to most East Coast locations if not less. I can also provide some carrier names that can deliver this vehicle if you are interested. I will pick you up at the airport if you wish for free. You can just as easily fly in a drive home. I have dozens more pictures if you like, I would be happy to email them to you. I will be happy to arrange payment details and have title in hand. Please let me know if you have any questions or need any help figuring out if this is the right Mercedes project for you. Hope you enjoyed the ad and if you are seriously looking for a great vehicle, don't miss out on this Here is a recent copy of an insurance appraisal for declared value prior to the wreck. Date: 10 September, 2011 To: Jason XXXX Salt Lake City, UT 84XXX Phone: 801-XXX-XXXX From: Motorsport, Inc. 2128 S Richards Street S Salt Lake City, UT 84115 Phone: 801-487-6733 RE: 1988 Mercedes 560SL Evaluation Dear Jason, Below please find enclosed the assessment of the value for your 1988 Mercedes 560SL with 58k miles. Your car is also more desirable than early 1988 models due to the fact that it is built late in June of 1988 so it is identical to the 1989 which is the last year of that body style. It is standard practice to run price comparisons when determining the value of an automobile. In the case of this car it is easier to establish a realistic trading value compared to some of your other more rare Porsche cars. It took less time researching sales values to find comparable vehicles. In the end, however there will be comparisons that are much easier to draw over a shorter period of time. There are four vehicles during our two weeks of research that offer a fair comparison. Very few of these early cars have such a full service history as your car. I believe that the fact that you have the recent service history and past service history means a lot to potential buyers and makes it much easier to finalize a sale. The first comparison would be a 1988 car that is currently on the internet sales site Ebay. It has an asking price of $25,500. It has listed twice but it hasn’t sold. It has a good interior and exterior color very similar to your car. The mileage is in the mid 40,000 miles. It looks nice but has not service history listed. It claims to be all original with no paint work. Another similar vehicles is also listed on Ebay. It has an asking price of $23,300 and ended with the seller claiming to have gotten somewhere “north of $20k”. It had 54k miles and was silver with black interior. The seller claimed to have some of the service history. The best example I can report is a local car offered for sale at 22,900. It has 60k miles and appears in good condition with up to date service. It is silver and black a very good color combination. However, it has very little service history. I suspect it will sell around 19-21k. The owner is not very savvy and knows little about the car and its history. For an up to date valuation of your car, just log into Ebay and watch it for about month and see what asking prices are and what actual sales prices are. This will show you the real value of what the cars can be sold for. Many cars have high asking prices. It is important to consider the actual selling prices as well into the price evaluation formula. We estimate that the value of Mr Shih’s 1988 Mercedes 560SL to be worth approximately $19-$23,000 to a private seller. Much of this is based on cars we compared to and the fact that yours is so well maintained. This car may take a month or two to sell for the desired price, but we believe it will bring the estimated price. The blue exterior is medium in desirability and the interior is also a medium in desirability. The originality and good maintenance of the car make it more desirable than many others. Thank you. The front end that was noted will need to be repaired at some time before the corrosion gets much worse where the bumper meets the body and fenders. We saw no part of the service history. As with any inspection, we are not able to peer through metal or innately know about a problem that we cannot see, experience or handle. We do not make predictions or promises. This inspection is only intended to allow the customers and insurers to be better informed about the general condition of the cars and to identify problems that were readily noticeable. Any customer takes The car rives nice rate car amongst comparable models with similar milage 9 out of 10 for similar vehicles.
