Vehicle Detail

1967 Volkswagen "Ragtop" Beetle VIN: 117333862 I’m often asked where we find these clean, unique vehicles. One of my best employees cruises parking lots of retirement homes, Elks clubs, the V.F.W. Halls and the back streets of a well-known Scandinavian neighborhood here in north Seattle. He can spot a seatbelt slammed in a door a mile away… He’ll notice when a nice old car or truck is driving down the road with a turn signal on just a little bit too long and he positively twitches with glee when a vehicle with metal bumpers passes by. If you’re in the market for a great driving vintage Volkswagen please give this nice Bug your kind attention. You’re also welcome to contact me with questions or to discuss a sale before the end of the eBay listing. My name is Mark Thompson and I can be reached directly at 206/914-1173 This bug has always been a local Seattle-area vehicle having sold new here in Bellevue, Washington at the now extinct Moore Motors Volkswagen on 116th St. NE. Mr. Will Farr of Kirkland walked into the showroom and drove out with the red Beetle on April 21, 1967. He would own and lovingly care for the car over the next 26 years, passing it on to a second owner in June, 1993. She would also keep the VW in this near-original condition you see here for almost twenty years until last week when it came to us for resale to the next (and only third) lucky caretaker! CONDITION: The photos really tell the Volksie’s story. The overall exterior is very, very decent and the solid red paint holds a shine well. It appears to have had one factory color respray some time in the past. All the glass is great. Same goes for the clean factory headliner and the nice german weave carpets front and back. I don’t know if the soft top came from the factory or may have been added by the dealer back in 1967. It is very solid, slides open and close easily and didn’t seem to leak in the heavy rain we’ve experienced over the past few days. The engine compartment and front trunk are tidy. Climb over, under and throughout the car - I know you’ll come up smiling! Rust? Well, this classic VW HATES rust and you’d be hard pressed to find anything to worry about here! The pans are all quite solid and original. We rarely get any snow in western Washington State, so our winter roads are never salted. At the first sign of a flake, everybody packs it in and just stays home! Turn the key and the air-cooled pancake fires up with just a pump or two of the gas pedal. The oil pressure seems good as does the charging system. No transmission issues, it shifts smoothly, just like it should, with NO clutch slippage. The stock wheels are wrapped with 195-65R15 radials appearing to have at least 75% remaining tread. Please take another look at the interior shots. The original upholstery and headliner are in good condition with the exception of the driver’s seat base cushion as shown (It's very comfortable to sit on still). What would I do to finish off the car? Well, I’d probably ditch the old 70’s cassette radio (which doesn't seem to want to work anyway), add a nice old –school looking CD/MP3 player and then just start driving this thing! Please BID WITH CONFIDENCE and know that you are purchasing a nice vehicle from a respected Ebay Seller. My main goal is be sure you’re happy with your purchase - and your dealings with me – with the hope that you’ll be back again for another purchase from me as others have done. Please Note: WE will NEVER, EVER “shill” or falsely "bump-up" an auction (a violation of eBay rules and also Federal Law). Because of the amount of money involved in buying a vehicle, we require that new eBay members with a feedback history of five or fewer transactions call or email before placing a bid. If we don’t have this initial contact, your bid may be cancelled. The phone number to talk directly to me, as outlined above, is 206/914-1173. Please feel free to call any time during the auction. My name is MARK THOMPSON. A Few Additional Terms and Conditions: Please check the photos over closely and call with any questions BEFORE you place a bid! You’re encouraged to inspect the vehicle at our premises on weekdays, so send your representative early to be sure you don't miss this one. We reserve the right to cancel your bid if you have any negative feedback. DEALERS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME TO BID AS WELL! Additionally I reserve the right to end the auction early if the Beetle is no longer for sale because we’ve accepted someone’s offer here locally or otherwise. A nonrefundable $500 deposit is due within 48 hours of the auction’s end. Because of the high fees they charge, we accept PAYPAL for the deposit only. The balance is due by cash or certified funds within seven days unless prior arrangements have been made with us. Please remember you are bidding to buy and I fully expect the winning bidder to fulfill their Ebay contract! You’re not bidding to hold, inspect or then come test-drive the vehicle later (You’re more than welcome to do this before the auction ends). If you do decide to have the VW shipped home, there are numerous vehicle transport companies to choose from. We ship vehicles regularly and I'd suggest that you get a transport bid from Dependable Auto Shippers (DAS) or the www.U-ship.com website. Transporters will bid delivery of the vehicle and you'll be able to choose who you want to use. For the past month or so DAS has really been competitive; coming in with quotes about 10% below everyone else. Our zip code for transporter pick-up would be 98002 – Auburn, Washington. The shipping of the vehicle and company chosen are the responsibility of the BUYER. Make sure you inquire about insurance coverage on the vehicles they transport. The Beetle can be stored free of charge at our location for up to two weeks after the auction ends (assuming full payment has been received). After that, we charge $15 per day storage. I should available for local pickup at our Auburn, WA warehouse from 10am to 6pm every day but Sunday. The Buyer will be responsible for the licensing requirements in their state of residence. If you live here in Washington State we’ll need to collect the 9.5% sales tax, title preparation, transfer and registration fees (this means if it’s leaving Washington, you won’t be paying any sales tax here). Because the car is advertised and for sale locally, I reserve the right to cancel this auction early if it’s no longer available for sale online. The State of Washington shall have exclusive jurisdiction over all disputes. Venue shall be exclusively in King County. The final contract signed between both buyer and seller shall be binding. The final signed contract and terms thereof shall govern the sale. All disputes arising out of or relating to this auction, any negotiations, the signed agreement, or to the breach, enforcement or interpretation thereof, shall be resolved by binding arbitration in Washington, in accordance with the terms contained in the final sale agreement and under the laws of the State of Washington. Whew! Don’t you just love legalese?
