1997 Mercedes E300D, great condition! I bought this car at a dealers auction about 6 months ago, it had been hit in the drivers side rear door and a bit into the quarter panel. Not much damage, I actually drove it home 300 miles from the auction. There is a picture of the car at the auction showing the damage, hard to believe but this was issued a salvage title because of this damage, just showing this so you will know what you are getting. I bought the car with 204,000 miles on it, 6 months later it now has 228,158 miles! Can't believe I drive that much! I said when I bought the car I wanted to keep it til it hit 500,000 miles, it is an amazing highway car as the 24,000 miles in 6 months shows. With my business I have come to realize I really need a wagon, have been looking the past few weeks and think I found what I need so this has to go before the auction next Monday! If you have never driven a Mercedes diesel they are extremely quiet, really can't tell it is a diesel by the sound. This is not a turbo but it really moves quite well, I really don't feel like this engine needs the turbo, it cruises at 70-75 easily and has plenty of passing power. The car is large, comfortable, quiet and smooth on the highway and also gets on average about 34 mpg, one trip when I drove 60 mph I actually got 38 mpg! Hard to believe for this size car, I know I am going to miss it! In the past 6 months I have done nothing except change the oil and fuel filter, I have no worries about getting in it and driving it anywhere. The interior is very clean, there are a couple minor things, the sunroof doesn't work and the glow plug relay needs to be replaced. The car starts flawlessly every time, but with the cold weather it probably should be replaced, it is very simple to replace, just one plug and it sits right on the fender well, easy to reach, about a 10 minute job and the part is only about $150. Everything else works, the A/C blows cold, cruise control works, all seat functions including seat heaters, everything is great on this car!
