Vehicle Detail
1981 JEEP CJ-8 SCRAMBLER **NO RESERVE** Up for sale is a 1981 Jeep Scrambler, the pickup version. It has a hard half top with the full doors. It has a 258 cu. in.(4.2L) inline 6 cylinder with power steering, 4-speed manual transmission, Dana 300 transfer case and later model wide axles with 2.73 gears. I had the front drive shaft rebuilt at a local shop. I installed a GM HEI type distributor. The tires are almost full tread 31x10.5R15 all-terrain white letter tires mounted on steel spoke wheels. It has been recently aligned. It has a 4" suspension lift kit. I also installed a new exhaust system. The Jeep is straight and painted factory Olympic White base coat/clear coat. The interior is in excellent condition with original CJ seats. The door panels are in good condition with no damage and I dyed them black to match the interior. I installed new black carpet based on the original pattern. The dash had been removed from the vehicle when I purchased it and I had no original gauges. I purchased a dash and gauges, therefore, the odometer reading does not reflect the true miles. I have no idea as to the real mileage. All the gauges and controls I purchased work correctly. It has the clock, tach and AM/FM cassette radio. All the glass in the vehicle is in good condition. When I purchased the vehicle the body tub was good with some rust in the floor and side panels that had been well repaired. I took the tub off the frame to check for rust and found only one minor spot that I repaired. The windshield frame was solid with minor surface rust that was easily repaired. The doors are solid and have had no signs of rust. The bed, tailgate, and front clip (fenders, hood, grill) were straight but had a few minor dents that I repaired. This is a very nice Scrambler and would make someone a nice street driver/off road vehicle. Scramblers were made for a limited time and in low production numbers and are hard to find in good shape. The vehicle drives nicely and I would like to keep it but am moving on to a new project. If you are in the area, please email me through Ebay to make an appointment to view the vehicle. Delivery is available at $2.00 per mile one way, payable in advance. I will accept a pay pal deposit only, remaining balance due on pick up in cash or cashiers check that I can clear with my bank. Please only serious buyers!
