Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a Suzuki, limited production GS1000S Wes Cooley Replica. The GS1000S was produced for only two years - 1979 and 1980. For both of these years, the bikes featured a factory custom blue and white paint scheme, a special one-of-a-kind fairing and a gauge cluster unique to these models. The gauges include a temp gauge and a quartz clock not featured on any of the standard GS1000 bikes. For 1980, the factory provided many upgrades over the 1979 model. These include:A more powerful engine configured with much larger CV carbs, and matching intake ports on the cylinder head for better breathing and more horsepower.A custom stepped seat with criss-cross stiching. This seat was used only for one year and one model. On this bike, the seat cover is a brand new perfect replica of the factory seat (which is no longer available). It was professionally installed by an auto upholstery shop.A short megaphone style exhaust system used only on this model in 1980.Maitnenance free electronic ignition replacing the dual points used in '79.Slotted brake rotors (versus the solid disks used in '79).Newer style front brake calipers using larger "rectangular" brake pads replacing the earlier "round" brake pads used in '79.Rear set footpegs and foot controls. This is important because the frame was specifically configured for this feature. It was a one-year, one-model only modification from the factory and it means that these bikes cannot be "counterfeited". The 1979 model used a standard GS1000 frame and therefore can be "faked" by installing the S parts (if they can be found). There are other detail changes like black brake and clutch levers (instead of the natural aluminum levers of 1979), newer style handlebar switches, an 85 mph speedometer (the government's failed attempt to slow us down), and other minor stuff. About this specific bike: The clock works!! Not all examples of this bike still have a working clock. It has just been serviced with Mobil 1 oil change and genuine Suzuki oil filter. New NGK spark plugs New battery Professionally rebuilt carbs. This bikes starts easily, idles beautifully, runs strong, and shifts like new. Triple tree bearings lubricated with synthetic greaseNew genuine Suzuki fork seals and fork fluidNew brake fluid front and rearFreshly polished stock chrome exhaust system fitted with new gasketsNew engine emblem for the stator coverPolished fasteners for ALMOST EVERYTHING - brake rotors, brake hoses, engine mounts, swingarm pivot, axles, wheel spacers, brake hoses, etc. This bike really shines. Full Disclosure:The paint is excellent but not perfect. There are a few minor flaws which I tried to show in the photos. In spite of the minor flaws, this is one of the finest examples of this bike ever posted on Ebay. There is a very small dent in the tank. It is located in the lower front blue painted section. It is hard to see unless you are looking for it. Hard to see in the photos. There is no crease or paint damage, so maybe it could be smoothed out by a pro. There is a small dent in the frame. This could be filled with welding or a steel epoxy. It doesn't affect anything and I can't imagine how it got there. One of the trim pieces on the air box is polished and clear coated and not chromed as it should have been. Hard to notice unless you were told about and were looking for it. Questions? Please contact me before the auction at 860-302-9224. Reserve is set at $6,000 for those interested. I will not reduce the reserve or buy-it-now price. The bike is for sale locally, and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Also be aware that I work for a utility company in Connecticut and expect to be working storm duty 16 hours/day for the next several days in response to Storm Sandy. Please be patient if it takes a while to respond to your questions. Good luck bidding. Mike On Oct-29-12 at 03:05:24 PDT, seller added the following information: NOTE: I cannot find the title for this bike. Most states, including Connecticut, do not require a title for motorcycles older than 1981. If your state does require a title for a 1980 motorcycle, I will pay the full cost for a title from International Title Services (a reputable title company) if the bike sells for the buy-it-now price, or 1/2 the cost if the bike sells below the BIN price. Their titles include a one year's registration. I apologize for this inconvenience. Mike
