Vehicle Detail

****** A hurricane is headed up the east coast and is forecast to affect the area I live in, So we may be without power as early as Saturday evening and if its bad enough, the power could be out for a week or more. Please take this into consideration if you try to contact me, I will get back to you as soon as possible****** Up for auction is my 1989 Jeep Wrangler, Im selling because its no longer a practical vehicle for me, I have severe lower back problems, so its time to let it go... It has the 4.2 liter 6 cylinder engine, Automatic transmission, 4WD, Homemade Hard top, tube bumpers, Steel Half Doors, Nerf bars and a homemade light bar, The lights have never been hooked up, but i will include the wire to do so. I bought this here in 2003, it came from Mass.. The carb is a 2 barrel Autolite, which is attached by way of an adapter plate, The engine has an aftermarket aluminum valve cover. It could use a tuneup. The rims are "Ions", 15x8 i believe, the tires are Dunlop Radial Mud Rovers 32x 11.5 and have a LOT of tread left, The transmission was rebuilt in late 2003. I converted the front locking mechanism from vaccuum to a steel cable system, the handle is mounted under the dash, You pull and twist to lock and engage it. The tailgate has been converted to downward opening and the spare tire mount removed, I still have the mount. The soft windows need to be replaced and I have all the original soft top hardware, which will be included, along with any other spare parts i may have, I also have the fold n tumble back seat, which goes with it also. The homemade hard top may be crude but it does the job, the top is coated with a black fibrous roof coating, to seal the wood from leaks. There is some rust under the dash, as it appears it leaked at one time and some rust on the rear frame. Its never been wrecked and has some small dents here and there, nothing major. It needs a new paint job, the real tailgate has a stress crack or 2 in it, im guessing someone had an oversized tire mounted to it at one time, Most of the emissions stuff has been bypassed or removed by the previous owner. Not long after i bought it, I replaced the original shocks and steering stabilizer, with off road types. I have never done any off roading in it, or driven it on a beach. It does not burn oil either. The engine knocks a lil bit after starting but soon stops(not a rod knock). This jeep is ready to drive anywhere. The heater works and will just about cook you! I just want to add, that I have well over $5,800 invested in my Jeep, the transmission rebuild alone, was $900, then I added the tires and wheels and tube bumpers, the front bumper sells for $400 if not more.... it all adds up.... Of course I dont expect to get out of it what I have invested in it, It also has a current Va. state inspection sticker, I forgot to mention that before. Saturday, I made a new carb spring bracket and added a shorter spring, It runs so much better now and that autolite 2 barrel carb, gives it a lot more power. It has an electric choke, but its not wired up. It starts right up and runs smoothly. There is no muffler installed, just a catalytic converter and a dual exhaust tip that acts as a resonator, so its not overly noisy. I gave it a good scrubdown too, it looks a lot nicer now.... But a new paint job, would be the iceing on the cake. The winning bidder is totally responsible for all transport/shipping costs and arrangements. No Exceptions. See Payment instructions please.
