HISTORYHave you ever seen the show "Chasing Classic Cars?" Well, if you have, you'd know the previous owner of this 2002 Mercedes Benz CL600, Mr. Wayne Carini (if you haven't seen CCC, you should check it out on Velocity. It's on all the time. Wayne knows his stuff, and is passionate about collecting great cars.) I bought this Rocket Ship from Wayne's f40 dealership in Portland, CT on my 45th Birthday, and it has been a blast to drive ever since. The original sticker price on this 2002 CL600 was an insane $122,940. This second generation model of the CL600 was produced by MB from 1999 - 2006, and is arguably the smartest, cleanest, sexiest design of the three generations. FEATURESThis MB CL600 features a 6.0L V-12 power plant that gets a remarkable 23 miles per gallon on the highway. This is attributed to some space-aged technology that shuts down the left bank of 6 cylinders under light loads (eg. cruising speed.) The car has relatively new Continental tires (less than 15K miles) on the front (18") and rear (19"), and custom Mandrus Chrome wheels ($1750 a set new). CONDITIONThis is a great car in good condition. All the major components - the engine, the transmission, brakes, steering, ABC suspension, power doors, tinted windows, locks, seats are all solid and in working order. This car flies. However, some cosmetic work and electrical repair needs to be done to make this car 100% perfect (thus the good faith in listing it at an aggressive selling price.) Paint: the front and back bumpers have chips and nicks that you'd might want to consider having repainted. There are some small dings and scratches in the paint, but nothing significant. Interior: there is a small, repairable tear on the passenger right back seat, and some damage to the middle back console (unnoticeable if the armrest is down.) The dash, front console, steering wheel and doors are beautiful leather and wood. Electrical: there is a short in the driver front seat or seat belt clip that, according to my authorized Mercedes Benz mechanic, is causing the SRS light to stay on after you put it in drive. The stereo also has a short in it, and the front bottom speakers on the driver and passenger side of the 12 speaker system need replacement. A/C blows hard and cold. KBB estimate for average private party sale for "Good" condition is $13,128, with "Fair" estimated at $11,578. I think this car is legitimately in "Good" condition, based on the description on KBB, but I have priced this car to sell assuming "Fair" value, along with the custom wheels and Continental tires, with a generous allowance for repair of the electrical short in the SRS system. Your not gonna find more power and style for the buck anywhere.
