Astronaut’s 2002 ZO6 Corvette For Sale Corvette enthusiasts, if you ever wanted to own a Corvette which includes a piece of American Space history (as in Astronaut history), this 2002 Z06 Corvette is for you! NASA Astronaut Bruce Melnick purchased this Z06 new in February 27, 2002. Astronaut Melnick is a personal friend of mine and was kind enough to sell his Z06 to me October 31, 2006 with 30,000 miles. This optional cost Millennium Yellow (RPO 79U) Z06 VIN # 1G1YY12S225122826 with the much desired Torch Red and Black Leather (RPO 704) interior package is fully equipped. All 2002 Z06 Hardtop models include a 405 HP LS6 engine, FE4 suspension, 6-speed manual transmission, electronic dual-zone A/C, and Head-Up Display. The odometer currently reads 78,600 miles. Virtually all of this mileage has been enjoyed on Florida’s smooth interstate highways. This Z06 is a complete numbers matching Corvette. There were 8,297 Z06’s produced during the 2002 model year and 1,065 were Millennium Yellow. As you would expect, this has also been my pride and joy and I have meticulously maintained this vehicle to the highest standards. It has always been stored in my garage which has kept all the soft trim pieces such as weather strips in excellent condition making this a very tightly sealed Z06. Both Astronaut Melnick and I are non-smokers. Since new, High Quality seat covers have protected the leather seats and after market floor mats have protected the carpets from noticeable wear. I have removed the covers so you can see in the photos just how spectacular the interior is. The seat covers, the like-new OEM mats and the C5 ZO6 specific floor mats also go with the Z06. Astronaut Melnick really liked the GM power antenna that came on Convertible C5s and purchased a factory wiring harness and factory antenna accessory and installed that on this Z06. It works perfectly. This one of a kind Z06 comes with complete documentation including two original window stickers. One unsigned and one signed to Astronaut Melnick by then Corvette Chief Engineer David Hill and Corvette C5 Chief Designer John Cafaro who are his personal friends. Under the hood is no exception as it has been signed by Corvette Factory Racing Drivers Ron Fellows and Andy Pilgrim. Signatures also include C5.R Racing Team Owners Pratt & Miller principles Robin and Gary Pratt, Corvette Racing program manager Doug Fehan. As a bonus, Astronaut Melnick’s Z06 car was featured in a Spring 2004 Corvette Quarterly five page article.
