1979 Beetle Convertible with AC This Karmann edition beetle was purchased a year ago as a daily driver in a smoke-free home and has been garage kept. The beetle runs wonderfully. The transmission shifts well and we have not noticed the "Beetle Shimmy." Since we purchased the beetle we have completed many improvements on the vehicle. Improvements were done by Earl Mann. http://www.earlmannbugshop.com/ Improvements:Brand new AC system from http://www.iceac.com/. This system pulls .5 hp from the engine to run which is MUCH lower than the original compressor. This allows for better performance of the vehicle. The AC works perfectly and blows ice cold!Convertible top was completely replaced with a black Premium Canvas top. All metal was coated in Anti-rust coating. Comes with boot!Converted to Carburetor for improved performanceWindshield has been replaced. The metal frame was coated in the anti-rust coating and the seals were replaced around the windshield.Battery pan replaced (1/2 floor pan) and floor pans coated in anti-rust coatingHeater channels repairedMotor tuned up including new coil, fuel pump, and spark plugs and wiresNew BatteryNew Radio with CD player, rear aux port, and front USB portNew cup holder console The remaining improvements that we know about are mainly cosmetic. Left to do:Windshield wipers run slow, may need motor rebuilt or replacedThere is body rust primarily along the bottom of the doors, which will need repaired.There is no carpet along the floor pans which were replaced. This is currently covered by the floor mats and is hard to notice. The speedometer has lost a screw and the insert with the speeds etc has twisted so it should either be repaired or replaced at some point. It is functional but offset a bit.
