I bought this 1939 Buick in February, 1995. I restored it at that time replacing the clutch, recored the radiator, rechromed the bumpers, and bought a new voltage regulator. In 1996 I repainted it, and the color is a very dark blue, but it looks black. You can see the blue in the bright sun. It has been garage kept for these past 17 years. The engine is a '53 straight eight. It has five 16 inch wheels with wide whites, and I also have five 15" wheels and hub caps with modern radials. We used this vehicle as a "limo" when our kids got married and got many stares and compliments. My grandfather had a similar one when I was a kid. The interior was re-done by the previous owner, and is not completely original. We have the original engine block and head. We also have a spare rear end, torque tube, trans and front end that go with the car. I used to take it to car shows in the area and got a 74 out of a possible 100 points at one large show. (I still have the certificate.) However, my interests have changed and I'm into golf now instead of old cars so it has been sitting in my garage for 5 or 6 years not running. I just replaced the battery and put in new spark plugs, gave it a good wash and wax and vacuumed it and it runs great. My wife and I just took it for a drive, and like I said, it runs great and is ready for the next enthusiast to enjoy. Feel free to email with any questions you may have.
