Vehicle Detail

1965 PONTIAC TRI-P0WER 8 LUG BONNEVILLE SOLID, SOUND, STRAIGHT, EXCELLENT RUNNING AND DRIVING CLEAN SMOOTH LINES WITH HOT ROD PERFORMANCE OPTIONS WERE THE TREND IN 1965 AMERICA. CAR STYLISTS WERE INSPIRED BY THE OPEN ROAD AND BUILT EYE OPENING CRUISERS. NOTHING INSPIRES THAT FEELING MORE THAN... THE BONNEVILLE OFFERED HERE WITH ITS 8 LUG WHEELS AND TRI-POWER ENGINE. PONTIAC HISTORY PONTIAC MADE ITS DEBUT IN 1926 GM SOLD IT AS A “SENIOR CHEVROLET” NOT VERY EXCITING BUT NEVER FAILED TO OUT SELL ITS NEAREST COMPETITOR…MERCURY. EASY TO TRACE PONTIAC’S HISTORY PRIOR TO 1955 – IT DIDN’T HAVE ONE! PONTIAC GOT THROUGH 1954 WITH INLINE SIXES AND STRAIGHT EIGHTS HOT RODDING WAS LEFT TO FORD WITH ITS FLAT HEAD V8 DATING BACK TO 1932 This all changed when Semon Knudsen assumed his post as General Manager of Pontiac Motor Division. He knew Pontiac had a wonderful reputation; solid, well-built but deadly, deadly dull! They were the cars old people bought. He also knew and flatly stated “You can sell a young person’s car to old people, but you cannot sell an old man’s car to young people.” SO…….the horse power race was on and he determined to make Pontiac the youngest car in the industry. His first action was to get rid of the dual hood stripes. The silver streak styling was a legend but they had to go. Knudsen thought they looked like suspenders. A signal went through the industry. Pontiac was on the move, a runaway freight train. Pontiac was to be daring and forever young. By 1957, the fuel injected Bonneville was launched and Pontiac was hip deep into stock car racing. Pontiacs were unstoppable and unbeatable. THIS 1965 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE HISTORY Some say it is foolish to list a classic so late in the year. Well, when you have something so many people want, maybe, just maybe, it does not matter. Placing an order now allows for a full season of fun. After all time flies and suddenly “IT’S SPRING!" This is a solid, sound, straight, excellent running and driving automobile. It is unrestored. Faded paint, not rust, prompted the previous owner to refinish it in satin black. It was primed with acrylic and sealed in satin. This was the way to go back in the day and it is once again very popular today. It fits this car perfectly, just like a Hicky Freeman. I would like to show you the engine and engine compartment first. It is clean and detailed. There is no scale or rust anywhere. It has been carefully maintained. It is most certainly one to show if you are so inclined. The three carbs are sassy as they hold center stage for all to see. Close the hood to a beautiful "look" straight from the factory. The long, low and wide stance grabs first prize at every light, at every corner and every parking lot. Recognition is the number one reason for buying a classic. Along with its good looks, it is fun to drive. There is plenty of power as the tri-power engine springs into action. It shifts quick and smooth just like it should. I found no mechanical issues. The ride is smooth and quiet except for the rhythm of the dual pipes out the back. It handles well at all speeds. The wheel is straight. This is a tilt wheel car. The unrestored interior will grab your eyes and not let go. Even though this is a 49 year old car, it is very nice. I rate the headliner exceptional, the visors very good, the seats very good to exceptional, carpet very good and the dash very, very good. The gauges are clear. The painted surfaces are very good. All of the bright work is good to very good. The seats are supportive and not broken down in any way. I did not find any worn, torn, or cracked areas. There is one exception where the seat bottom meets the surround, there is a flaw noticed when folded for rear passenger entry. Pontiacs always had a luxurious feel. The bucket seats, beautiful dash and steering wheel are most impressive. This is an interior to be proud of. The 65 BONNE has long, flowing, smooth lines that set standards for style with slanted roof lines featured on 2 door hardtops. The stainless steel trim runs the entire length of the car. It is in excellent condition. This Bonneville feature with its horizontal lines is a beautiful work of art. The bumpers are solid and not twisted or dented. The chrome is far from perfect; however, in my opinion, very presentable. The hood, deck lid and doors fit very well and open and close easily. There is no door sag. The car is straight down the sides. All of the factory seams are intact. The fender skirts are still there and fit well. They are attached to a solid body. All of the glass is clear and there are no cracks. There are so few 8 lug, tri-power cars out there. This just makes the car. The 8 lug wheels and beauty rings are in very good condition. The trunk is solid, original and in good condition. This is a wonderful automobile. It is ready to drive and enjoy. One of those that grab your eye and will not let go. It is a wise investment. NADA average value: $15,555.00… This is a seldom found 389 3X2, 8 lug muscle Bonneville. A wise investment, a wonderful value, priced well below the NADA appraised value. These cars have had THREE price increases in just one year. It is ready to drive and enjoy. Buy with confidence. WHERE DO YOU FIND ONE LIKE THIS? REASONABLY PRICED AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAR FOR THE MONEY REMEMBER TO PLACE YOUR BID. This is a 10 day listing which will end SUNDAY, October 21 at 8:57 P M EDT! _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Here are 69 close up pictures showing every part of this BONNEVILLE.
