Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1976 Porsche 914 2.0 with 46,966 miles. The car starts, idles, runs and stops like new. Maintains the original D-Jetronic fuel injection system, has had smog equipment removed, however. Fuchs wheels and almost new, 165x15 tires. Dealer installed air conditioning, still an R-12 system, works but needs a freon charge. Based on the opinion of a reputable shop in Tulsa, the cars strength is its solid body, lack of rust. There is some rust at the top of each of the door jambs adjacent to the the round black plastic grille, and minor surface rust in a few places which I've tried to cover in the pictures. We bought the car from who believe was the second or third owner. He bought/received the car from his uncle who had the car in California. The uncle had the car repainted, engine rebuilt and upholstery redone in 1995. We have the receipts from the engine rebuild from the shop in North Hollywood to verify this date. The receipt for paint we had but seems to have disappeared. Paint is not great, it was a Maaco or Earl Sheib job, with all due respect to those companies. It was repainted the original green you see in the photos, exterior only. Paint has lost much of its gloss and is peeling in areas. I don't mind mentioning this for two reasons: one, there does not appear to be any major body work being covered up and two, I want to be as forthcoming with information as possible. The upholstery is in very good condition. The carpets are not original and are fairly easy to spot, if one knows what they're looking for. The seats, however, I believe have been recovered but maybe not, they closely maintain their original appearance and may actually be original, as do the door panels. The dash has been covered with black vinyl and looks pretty good. Mileage I am very confident is original, with paperwork to support that. Rather than trying to anticipate questions or what information someone may want, please feel free to email those and I'll do my best to respond in the most satisfactory way possible. Thank you for looking.
