I bought this car used in 1981 with the standard 12 cylinder engine and Jaguar transmission. It had about 50K miles then, I drove it for another 35K and the V12 became a very expensive problem. Stefan Hudak, a well known engine builder/Jag conversion expert, did the conversion complete with aeroquip connections. He was a very meticulous guy. I drove it for another 50K trouble free miles. The speedometer/odometer is broken so the mileage is not accurate. The engine starts on first crank and idles smoothly. Not only is the 74 XJ 12L one of the most beautiful Jags ever built, it still has a one of a kind ride. I had the entire interior replaced using a Connolly leather/headliner kit. As you look at the pictures you will notice that the interior is correct and except for the drivers seat which show some wear, looks like new. Stefan liked small steering wheels, so the car has a RAID leather steering wheel. The air conditioning does not work. The power windows,radio, windshield wipers,tachometer,fuel gauge etc. all work fine. One of the resonators in the exhaust system is starting to rust/leak. It is available for a test drive. I drove it today.
