Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a seldom seen 1960 Plymouth station wagon (Belvedere). There were only 3,333 of these 6-passenger units made - this one was built in Los Angeles, CA, in Sept. 1960. It has been setting since 1980 or so. This is one of the coolest finned station wagons I have ever seen! It has the 318 V8, mated to a 3-spd. TorqueFlite transmission. Well, it was mated at one time....the tranny is out of the car and in a wheelbarrow. I believe all the parts are there, because of how it was meticulously laid out on newspaper in the back. The other setback is the rusty floors: all 4 flat areas in front of the seats are shot. But the spare tire well is solid, as is the bottom of the tailgate (which I can't open because there are no keys). The rear rockers have some rust too, but it's mostly surface rust everywhere else. I have taken out the brake shoes so the car rolls freely (brake parts are in a bucket inside) On the plus side this car is nearly 100% complete! All that's missing is the air cleaner, and the inside handle on the tailgate is broke. There's no searching for hard to find parts - it's all here. Notice the very cool rubber "steps" on the back bumper. Glass is all good, no cracks, bullet holes, or scratches. Padded dash is excellent, so is steering wheel. Back seat folds down nicely, but I haven't opened the spare tire compartment because it's locked. The trim on this car is in amazing condition, too. Very few dings to be found. It would take some work to bring this back, but what a fabulous car to own! You just don't see station wagons with fins anymore. I'm in the (long) process of getting the title; I know the family and it's no problem to get it...just takes time. I need to get this out of my yard before the rainy season starts, or it would be tough to get. I do have a 2nd wagon just like this, but have not listed it yet. I have the title in hand for it. A lot less rust, but the trim is not as good as this one.. Ideally a person would get both, and combine the best of each. Good luck bidding! I want it to go to a good home.... I will help in shipping, as in towing the car to the pick-up point 3 miles from my house. All other arrangements by buyer
