Vehicle Detail

This is a 1978 Mercedes 280 CE 2 dr. coupe manufactured and assembled in Germany. I am the third owner and I have meticulously maintained service records dating back to the first oil change in 1978 all the way to the present. I even have the original keys. All parts are the original parts that the vehicle was manufactured with with the exception of the battery, wiper blades and other routine maintenance wear and tear items. There is absolutely NO rust anywhere on the body to frame contact points however there are a few spots of rust in the paint. The A/C, however has been retrofitted from R12 to R134. The color is a very dull and aesthetically disappointing brown color and does have paint coat pitting and clear coat deterioration avulsions in some places. All electrical components and accessories are in good working order. The only immediate concern that the buyer need be aware of is a transmission issue which presents a somewhat unreliable and sporadic engagement in reverse gear ONLY which I know for a fact hinges around loose transmission linkage and a misaligned gear selector shift (neutral safety switch) however internal damage is likely to have occurred in the reverse gear clutch packs. All other gears shift smoothly and without incident meaning that this vehicle is a fully functiong every day driver if one so desired to do so (I am an ASE Certified Master Technician and I keep it covered in my shop). The interior is completely and totally intact and merely requires reupholstering the seats at most and all the original interior components the vehicle was sold with are still present and in good working order including the radio, horn, seat belts, chair adjustment levers, guages, lights, automated antenna, power windows, power door locks and sunroof. All hubcaps are present with no dents or cosmetic damage but the exhaust donuts and hangers require replacement. All in all it is a phenomenal collectors item with an extensive significant historical history and would make an absolutely ideal minimal effort restoration project for a very minimal investment. This is my 7th vehicle I own and had planned on restoring myself but I simply do not have the time nor the German automotive restoration experience I feel is necessary to properly restore it to my satisfaction and I need the space in my shop back. This vehicle is sold as is with the service history and Haynes manual specifically published for this vehicle. The vehicle is being sold "as is" with no warranty and buyer is responsible for 100% payment within 48 hours after bidding closes and is also responsible for pick up/ shipping or I will trailer the vehicle up to 250 miles from zip code 70503 at no additional expense. Thank you for viewing!
