Vehicle Detail
I purchased this Nova from the son of the deceased previous owner. She had been sitting untouched in the garage for several years. I didn't fully realize how nice the car was until I started going over everything and freshening things because she had sat for so long. This is one of the most rock solid and rust-free examples anyone will ever find. Even the undersides and trunk are MINT. 2 Oregon owners since new. The license plates are the originals and the only set the car has ever had. I had the engine, transmission, rear end, brakes, suspension, electrical and cooling system all inspected and repaired as needed. A detailed drivetrain description is provided below. The body, paint and interior are all very nice. This is a great car in very hard to find condition. All aspects described below. The exterior is in wonderful shape. All original body panels have excellent fit, gaps and alignment. One repaint was performed 15-20 years ago. They did a good job at that time but certainly not intended for Concourse events. The car is exceptionally straight and completely rust-free. The SS emblems, Rally wheels, trim and simulated hood vents were added long ago. The paint is applied evenly and holds a beautiful shine. Minor flaws can be found on close inspection in the form of tiny rock chips and dust specks within the clear-coat but a wet sand and polish would bring it to the next level. Any paint blemish is extremely minor. All stainless trim, moldings, grille and chrome is in excellent original condition. The factory front bumper is very nice but the rear had minor blems so it has been replated and appears as new. All glass is crystal clear with superficial imperfections only. The car shows and presents itself well. Compliments are non-stop every time I open my garage door and even more overwhelming when I take her out for a drive. The following photos are accurate. She's a very pretty car. The interior requires no excuses. The seats, door panels, headliner, carpet and entire dashboard area are in excellent condition. There is one small flaw in the original headliner (photo provided) but I prefer original items whenever possible so I chose not to replace it. The arm rests on each door show some age related wear but the interior is in very impressive condition. Every switch, knob and lever operates correctly. All lights, gauges, heater, wipers and radio are fully functioning. The horn is the only non-working item I'm aware of and it was working fine. Just before I took these pictures I tried to honk at a bicyclist in the middle of the road and it just made a clicking sound. Probably a simple grounding issue that I will attempt to rectify. One look inside when you open the door is all it takes to see how nice it really is. The photos will finish this part of the description. The drivetrain consists of a mildly built early 1970's 4-bolt main 350-V8, Turbo-350 transmission with shift kit and stall converter and a full POSI rear end with 3:73 gear ratio and locker unit. These mechanical components appear to have all been gone through with low mileage since rebuilds. The engine has roller rockers, a mid-range performance cam, Edelbrock intake with Holley carburetor and headers. I had the dual exhaust system completely redone and the charging system replaced including the alternator and voltage regulator. The engine has been tuned and all fluids changed. She starts easily but is a little cold-blooded for the first 60-90 seconds. I wish I knew more regarding the motor. It is incredibly strong. I have some highly done engines in several of the cars in my collection but the power and torque that comes from under the hood of this Nova is impressive. If you stand on it, hold on! She will break both rear tires loose at 35 miles an hour if you punch it. Suspension and brakes are tight and sound. The car feels firm and solid on the road without squeaks or rattles. The 14 inch Goodyear tires are approximately 15 years old and have between 50-75% life remaining. Typical minor fluid drips on my garage floor but nothing out of the ordinary. I have discovered a small oil leak coming from the timing chain cover. Those chrome covers almost never seal 100%. I enjoy driving the car and she is trustworthy. Based on the rear end gearing, maximum comfortable sustained speed is 65mph. She always stays cool even in traffic. My Nova is very dependable and I have driven her locally off and on this Summer. After a brief warm-up, simply turn the key and go. I will make a few brief comments under some of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome and encourage showing my Nova in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Thursday evening, the 11th of October, at 8PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. *Everyone, especially if you are outside of the U.S. or Canada or you have a low (0) eBay rating, PLEASE SEE MY TERMS OF SALE provided below the last photo.*PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable and kindhearted person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way.NO RESERVE AUCTION I did not set a reserve price on my Nova. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see the day before this auction started. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my car and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE As I described above, the interior is very nice and needs nothing in order to be enjoyed. One of the most sanitary engine compartments you'll see. Many weekends of tedious toothbrush cleaning in every corner. A close friend of mine gets most of the credit for how amazing the engine bay and under hood area turned out. NEVER undercoated and the floors have NEVER been repainted. The belly well hope to find. They are rarely found like this anymore. The trunk is outstanding. Heading into Downtown Portland the day I took all of these pictures. Even the lower portions of the body are outstanding. Rear window area is mint. Looking down both sides of the car is impressive. She is very straight. My explorations of the car have discovered no abuses of bondo or other body fillers. Every body panel fits beautifully. Fenders, doors, hood and trunk lid all have near perfect fit and alignment. The original 14 inch SS Rally wheels are in very nice condition and look spectacular on the car. The front tires are a little too wide and will rub slightly under the right circumstances but it is minor and nothing is being damaged. The tire size looks perfect on the car so I left them. Roof-line is excellent. The paint holds a very nice shine and reflections can be seen. That me on my hands and knees taking this picture. Hello- My favorite pic! No bragging intended but I personally took every picture you are scrolling through with my hand-held digital Canon camera. It takes a very steady hand. This one is poster worthy. Every light means every light. Even the back-up's and license plate light. Please notice the very small ding at the end of the molding spear. It is the only dent I've found on the car. The only interior flaw I need to mention is the dime size hole in the headliner. Original dash pad is mint. The engine always holds high oil pressure and she has never over heated. No corrosion has gotten to this car. Even the original inner fenders, firewall and the entire core support are still smooth. There is no evidence of previous collisions anywhere on the car. These are the ORIGINAL floor pans and undersides. They have not been repainted or undercoated, EVER! I love the air-shocks so I left them. You can see the lines in this photo. They still hold air. That is an original floor plug with factory sealant. Again, they are rarely found like this anymore. And, you guys in the Mid-West or East Coast don't have cars that survive like this. NEVER exposed to a salted road or chemical de-icer. Just amazing. Yes, factory original. Even the backsides of the quarter panels are gorgeous. For any 1968-1972 Nova fan, this car deserves to be appreciated. They are extremely difficult to find in this uncut and rock-solid condition. This car hides nothing. Your impression is correct by this point. Thanks again- Terms of Sale: 43yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my Nova honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic vehicles. I have faith in the drivability of my car and to my knowledge everything is in good working order per my written description above. I have the free and clear Oregon title in my possession. I drive my Nova regularly but she is 43 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see her for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I'm happy to pick you up at the Portland Airport and allow you to see and feel the car personally while the auction is active. My wife and I will even buy lunch. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. I will stay involved throughout this entire process and help in any way possible. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine.
