Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1969 Nissan Patrol. The soft-top Nissan Patrol 60 two-door, 86.6 in wheelbase and G60 two-door 98.4 in wheelbase were first sold in Australia in 1960. Left-hand drive L60/GL60 models were sold outside of Australia. The 60 series gained attention as the first vehicle to drive across the Simpson Desert in Australia. US customers could only get Patrols from 1962 until 1969. It had a manual transmission type-F3B83L with three speeds, two-speed transfer case with part-time four-wheel drive. The motor was the P engine, a 3,956 cc inline overhead-valve six-cylinder, featuring bathtub-shaped combustion chambers and a fully balanced seven-bearing crank shaft. With two doors in front and one at the back it seats a driver and a companion in front and also has two parallel inward facing back seats that will accommodate 2 on each side. This is a very rare vehicle. Nissan Imported a little over 2600 of these vehicles to the states to compete with Toyota, Jeep and other off road vehicles of the 60's. In 1969 Nissan changed quite a few things that make this Patrol different from just about every other year out there. As you can imagine with so few being imported to the U.S. and the fact that even the newest one of these is over 40 years old that there are not too many left and especially none that are this clean and complete. This truck has been in the Southwest for as long as I can track it, and as such the body is in very good shape. It is in Grapevine, TX now (near DFW). The vehicle tracks back to Arkansas where I found it, Amarillo, TX prior to that and Logan, New Mexico prior to that. I have recently changed the oil, coolant and flushed the brakes. The brake cylinders and brake shoes have also been replaced and the drums have been turned. It has new shocks and a new front steering shock, new suspension bushings and sway bar bushings. I added two safety items that are not purely stock- front seat belts and a side rear view mirror- not shown in pics but looks great. It starts right up (manual choke) and runs and drives great! I used it as my daily commuter when I lived in Grapevine. All of the gauges work too. I am no longer working in TX and need to sell the truck. I would bring it to PA where I now live, but the salt on the roads would eat this classic up. I’d like to find a good home for it where it has spent the last 40+ years.Payment via certified check, once clear will release the truck and title to buyer. On Oct-10-12 at 05:12:31 PDT, seller added the following information: There is a great article from a 1965 Popular Science article that compares the Patrol to a Landrover, a Scout and a Jeep. Provides good statistics on the three and pros and cons of each. I am inserting the link below. The article starts on Page 46. There is a great comparison chart on page 50. If the link does not work, Google search "nissan patrol article popular science" and it will pop up. http://books.google.com/books?id=9SUDAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA172&lpg=PA172&dq=nissan+patrol+article+popular+science&source=bl&ots=KQ5-rY83GK&sig=zc54wv3ASDEXnfoBjxAMwxOZORg&hl=en&sa=X&ei=KF91ULjuFpTC0AHwk4HYAg&sqi=2&ved=0CB0Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=nissan%20patrol%20article%20popular%20science&f=false
