LOW RESERVE !!! 1972 Austin Mini Cooper (1998 Rover Mini Cooper) VIN # XA2S1N473008B Odometer: 78127 kilometers (48546 miles) Color: Anthracite Clearcoat Metallic and White (Charcoal) First, I would like to explain why my listing is for a “1972 Austin Mini Cooper” when it was actually built in 1998 by Rover. The original (or classic) Minis were built from 1959 thru model year 2000 by various British vehicle manufacturers with Rover the final one. To legally import a vehicle into the US, it has to meet the federal requirements in place for that vehicle’s model year. Since the classic Mini does not comply with all the U.S. federal mandates for model year 1998 (federal impact bumpers are one example of non-compliance), it was re-VIN’d (in Europe) to a 1972 Austin Morris Mini so it could legally be imported here. (Hint: MOST of the auctions for classic Minis on eBay that say they were ‘re-bodied’, have a ‘new interior’, have all the ‘latest upgrades’, etc are really re-VIN’d newer models … they just aren’t as forthcoming as I am.) Now the good part, since it was built in 1998, it has ALL the modern updates plus the style, design, and looks of the classic Mini. You are getting the best of both worlds and you can use this car as a daily driver and still enter it in ALL the classic Mini and historical vehicle shows. This is a partial list of the ‘modern updates’ (factory installed) that this Mini has: · 1275cc 4-cylinder engine with multiport fuel-injection (MPI) · Front-mounted radiator for improved engine cooling · Driver side airbag · Side door beams · Front head restraints · Front disc brakes · Cooper Sports Pack (includes additional gauges, 13” alloy wheels with radial tires, body-colored sport wheel arches, 2 auxiliary driving lights, and 2 fog lights) · Leather seats with reclining backrests (front buckets only) · Burled walnut dash · Quartz analog clock · Electric headlamp leveling · Day / Night rear view mirror · Perimeter anti-theft alarm with engine immobilizer · Electric rear window defroster · Rear fog lamp · 2-speed Windshield wipers with washers It has a sport exhaust installed that came with the car when I bought it … it gives the Mini a real throaty roar when you accelerate but is unintrusive when cruising. How it drives: With the 1275cc MPI engine, it is very peppy and has no trouble keeping up with traffic. I bought this car in July of 2007 from a gentleman in Poplar Grove, IL. and drove it home to Michigan averaging over 44 mpg for the over 400+ mile trip. It uses no oil, has no leaks, and, due to the MPI, it starts right up. It has been stored in a heated garage ever since I bought it. Vehicle Condition: As you can see in the pictures, the Anthracite Clearcoat Metallic paint, the White roof and mirrors, and the white Cooper bonnet stripes gives this car a rich appearance that is carried into the interior with the Burled Walnut dash with cream-colored instrument faces and the Stone Beige leather seats. The interior is in excellent shape. There is a small ding (dent) in the rear bumper that can be seen in the pictures. Tires are in excellent shape – 2 new tires are on the rear. Everything functions as it was designed and built. The car comes with ignition key, anti-theft / immobilizer fob, 2 door / trunk keys, gas cap key, original owner’s manual (in German, I think), 2 OE English owner’s manuals, OE AM/FM Cassette manual, an OE AM/FM Compact Disc manual, original jack with special socket for removing the locking lug studs, a first aid kit, and a road emergency triangle kit. A new OE air filter, 2 new oil filters, a new OE replacement fuel filter, 5 spare instrument cluster light bulbs, a spare windshield washer pump check valve, and a Mini-specific car cover (complete with storage bag and tie straps) are also included. It has a clean Michigan title in my name. Included with this auction are 21 collectible books and magazines devoted to the Mini, 2 MINT-CONDITION final edition Classic Mini brochures (collectible), 2 CD Shop Manuals, 3 quartz-movement Mini wristwatches, 9 Mini lapel pins, original edition Mini Cooper S owner’s manual (English), and the original European registration plates. As I am advertising the car locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early. Terms and Conditions: I accept cash, cashiers check, or personal check (must allow 10 days for checks to clear). $500 deposit due within 4 days of completion of auction. Balance due before pick-up or shipment. I cannot ship but I will assist in any way I can ... Buyer to pay all shipping costs. DO NOT BID unless you are serious about buying … Since I have had problems with ‘Non-Buying’ bidders in the past, bidders with less than 10 POSITIVE feedbacks must contact me prior to bidding. The car is located in Southeastern Michigan (Manitou Beach) and I invite ALL bidders to come and inspect it prior to bidding. If you have any questions, please email me or phone [(734) 730-7054] before bidding. GOOD LUCK !!!
