Vehicle Detail
1977 Lancia Scorpion- I have owned this car for 10 years but it has not been driven much. It starts up easy, runs, drives, shifts through the gears, steers and brakes perfectly. All lights, horns, wipers, pop-up headlights work as they should. The car is all stock and hasn't had any modification. It still has original catalytic converter and exhaust system. The air conditioning system isn't working, there isn't an A/C belt on the compressor, but the rest of the a/c system is intact. Engine: It is all original and sounds smooth and quiet. It starts up easy. About 3 years ago, we installed a new water pump, timing belt, and timing belt tensioners. Four months ago we repeaced the timing belt as a precaution. Both of the cam housing gaskets and valve cover gasket were replaced at this time and the valves adjusted (no oil leaks here). Transmission: A new clutch was installed when we first got this car. It shifts up and down the gears perfectly. No issues at all. Electrical: Head lights, brake lights, horn, wipers all work. Right front lower park light doesn't work but the turn signals all work. The radiator's electric cooling fans fun all the time, may need a new thermo switch? Brakes: Brake fluid was flushed/changed. All new rubber brake hoses installed. The car brakes perfectly-no pulling or uneven braking. Tires/wheels: All original OE wheels. Tires are very old and dry rotted, not safe for driving any significant distance or high speed. I have driven it around the block a few times. The left rear wheel in the photos isn't included as I put it on d/t the tire on the OE wheel wouldn't hold air for a long time. I do have a set of 4 of that wheel (l rear)- 14" for sale for $200 extra. Interior: Photos describe the interior best. Seats are in good overall condition as are the door panels. Driver's door arm rest needs to be redone. The paneling behind the seats on the rear firewall is disfigured and warped/needs replaced. The carpet is original and is faded, but not torn or coming apart. The tracks which the seats slide back/forth are weak and were rusty. We cleaned/lubricated them. Both the seat belt buckles are missing. They may be the same as Fiat X-19. Vinyl Targa Top: Good condition, no side straps. Body: Floor pans- there is a small amount of rust thru spots on the very rear section of the floor pan where it meets the firewll. Driver side rear of the floor pan has patched spot about 4+" in diameter, otherwise the rest of the pan is in good shape. (see photos) Front/rear fire walls are perfect. All four corner shock towers are perfect (100% rust free). The front compartment is also perfect with good original paint. The hood has a rusty spot on underside under the vent grills (see photos)- one spot is rusted approximately 5" x3" and needs to be repatched. Both front underside corners on the hood also have spot rust which should be repairable easily. The paint on the car is weak and the whole car needs to be painted. Lenses/glasses - good shape. Odometer: not functional and I believe it needs a new speed cable. The speedo cable in these cars was originally a 2 piece cable with an adapter in between them. I've been told a Fiat X-19 (Bertone) speedo cable would work, but I'm not sure. I have 2 other scorpions whose speedo cables don't work either. Fuel tank: removed four months ago and sublet and cleaned/relined with epoxy coating on the outside. New filter neck hose also installed. As you can see, this is not a "project car" as most of the mechanicals have been done. It mainly needs tires and painted the color of your choice. It is a 35 year old car and may need other repairs/refurbishing. I have described the car to the best of my knowledge and ability. It is being sold AS-IS with no guarantee or warranties of any kind. Please email with any questions and I'll be glad to answer them. I have a very low reserve price and looking to sell the car as I don't have much storage space for the winter. Do not bid if you don't fully intend to purchase the car or have funds available and ready. We welcome any inspection on site prior to purchase. If you have negative or no ebay history do not bid. A $500 deposit is required within 48hr of winning bid and balance in form of cashier check or wire transfer within 5 business days. The car will not be released until the funds have cleared the bank. The car has a clean clear Kentucky title in our dealer name which will be assigned to the buyer. The buyer must arrange for their own transportation and we'll gladly assist in anyway we can.
