Vehicle Detail
History: Like your father told you and his father told him Lincoln stands for one thing: American Luxury. The company was founded in 1915 by Henry M. Leland but didn't start making automobiles until after the war and by 1922 it was purchased by the Ford Motor Company. In the early 1990's Lincoln decided to get serious about something other then luxury. It was now time to add performance to the mix. Out came the Mark VIII in 1993. With it's 32 valve V8 engine this was now a serious performance and luxury car. LSC stands for Luxury Sport Coupe and they weren't kidding, step on the gas and zoom there is goes! The Mark VIII was the first car to have many unique features such as xenon headlights and neon taillights for added safety. This car cost new over $40,000 back in 1997 so they were by no means inexpensive. If you like these big stylish coupes you will be sure to enjoy driving this car! This particular LSC belongs to my uncle and I am helping him sell it on Ebay. He purchased it from Lombard Lincoln Mercury in Lombard Illinois in 1998 with 15031 miles on it. He is the second owner of the car. My Auction: I will attempt to describe this fine automobile to the best of my ability. All used cars have flaws, please be realistic in your expectations, I will point out anything that I think stands out as I believe anyone who doesn't is not being thorough with their auction. Please ask all questions BEFORE you bid. Please view the link to all of the additional pictures I have posted on www.flickr.com BEFORE you bid, some of them have captions. I want you to know exactly what you are getting. Please read my ENTIRE auction carefully and maybe even several times BEFORE you bid. Also please be respectful of my auction, these cost real money that I have to work hard for just like you do. Please make sure you have the money in place BEFORE you bid and have already asked your significant other or whoever you need permission from to buy a car BEFORE you bid. Thanks and good luck! Link to over 100 pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/87706395@N03/ If you click on the picture you can make it larger, next click on the magnifying glass icon at the top of the picture, this makes it even larger, next click on "view all sizes" on the upper right and you can supersize the images. They come out much better then they do on Ebay and you can really get a feel for the quality of this car. If Ebay disables the link simply cut and paste it to your browser. If you still have trouble contact me and I will make sure you get the photos e-mailed to you. Exterior Condition: This Mark VIII LSC is finished in stunning Toreador Red Metallic over black leather. This is an unusual color combination as most of the Toreador Red ones have a beige interior that shows dirt too easily. The paint is as smooth as glass and shines like a mirror. There are no swirl marks, hazing, fading, or peeling of the paint. The car does not have any dents but like any 15 year old car it has it's fair share of very minor scratches, minor parking lot dings, and minor stone chips. There is a spot I point to above the drivers side headlamp where the paint was damaged and touched up. My uncle always garaged the car and kept it waxed. There is no crud in the door, trunk or hood jambs and they are squeaky clean. To say this car is super clean is an understatement. This car has never been in an accident and comes with a clean Autocheck report. All of the rubber gaskets are in excellent condition and are free of rips or tears. The chrome wheels on the drivers side are in perfect condition and the ones on the passenger side have some deterioration near the center only. The tires are an almost new set of matching Goodyears with no uneven wear patterns. The wheel wells are so clean you could eat off of them. The trunk compartment and engine compartment are super clean also. Anytime I sell a car I naturally detail it. When I opened the hood to my uncle's car I couldn't believe how clean the engine was! I didn't have to do anything, he said a friend he knows that was a detailer told him the tricks to keeping it that clean...he is a neat freak on top of it. All of the glass is perfect with no chips or cracks. I like driving this car so I have driven it around a bit running errands. I am here to tell you between the shiny Toreador Red, the chrome wheels, and the beautiful shape of the body this car turns heads! Interior Condition: I don't think the pictures do it justice. For some reason they show up funny in the direct sun but the interior of this car is like new. I think this is really the strongest point of the car. The carpet is perfectly clean, I doubt anyone ever even sat in the back seat, and the fronts look almost new. There are no rips, tears, or seam seperation on the leather. The leather is soft and supple. On a hot day you still get an occasional wiff of the new car smell. It has never been smoked in and my uncle has no pets. The headliner is in perfect condition with no sagging. Mechanically: This Lincoln runs and drives exactly like a new Mark VIII LSC did back in 1997. I drove a new one at the dealer when my uncle was in the market. The car is very tight with no rattles or funny noises when it goes down the road. The brakes are smooth with no pulsating. It starts right up and accelerates smoothly and the transmission shifts as it should. The air conditioning blows ICE COLD and the heat is HOT. Every single button and switch works as it should. Both xenon headlights work properly as do the neon taillights, trust me this is good, the are expensive to replace or repair. The following is a list of recent work done. In addition to preventative maintainace the few common Mark VIII problem areas have been addressed. -New front sway bar links on both sides -New water pump (coolant obviously flushed) -New thermostat (coolant flushed again about a year later) -New ignition coils -Brake pads about 2 years old -New drivers window motor -Trans fluid and filter changed 4 years ago -New wiper blades Additional Notes: -This Mark VIII LSC is sold as with no warranty expressed or implied. -Only 88,000 miles! -I would not hesitate to drive this car cross country. -The spare tire has never been on the ground. -I have the original owners manual. -I have two ignition keys and four door keys. -It passed emissions last in Nov. 2011. -Please don't contact me asking me the reserve price, it is not fair to other bidders. If you want the car get in the game and have some FUN and place a bid! Fun is all about what owning a car like this is all about. -You are more then welcome to come inspect and drive the Mark VIII LSC BEFORE you bid and bring your mechanic because I am not one. -By bidding on this Lincoln you are entering a contract to purchase an automobile, this is not the first right of refusal. -I live about 30 minutes from Chicago Midway or Chicago O'hare, feel free to fly in and drive home. -If you are shipping I will assist your shipper in loading the car. -I have a clean title in hand. -If you have questions you can e-mail me or call me at 630-334-6974, I will be happy to discuss the car with you. -There are only two forms of payment I will accept: CASH, this means you will be counting out greenbacks. Or I will accept a bank to bank wire transfer. I will not accept any checks of any kind. You CAN NOT pay the entire amount with Paypal, this is only for the deposit.
