Vehicle Detail
OLE AUNT VELMA'S GROCERY GETTER! This was the only car she ever dreamed of owning. She became the second owner of her dream car in 1972. She maintained and cared for this car like it was a child or pet, by servicing it regularly and feeding it the best fuel. She even had a name for it. "Ole Gin". It is unknown why she gave the car this name. Some family members believe she had always liked the name "Ginny", but others are rumored to believe she named it after her favorite cocktail. We do know this was Ole Aunt Velma's only ride she ever owned before departing to heaven for a final Gin and Tonic with St. Peter at the Pearly Gates Pub in 2004. We were lucky enough to inherit "Ole Gin" in 2004 and were eager to cheer her up since Aunt Velma's passing, but unfortunately most of our time and money was already dedicated to the kid we already had (1966 Pontiac GTO Convertible) AKA "The Goat". "The Goat" was finally restored after years of work and thousands of dollars. "The Goat" was in its prime and ready to be shown and adored, while "Ole Gin" patiently waited her turn to be loved again like she once was. She was always an only child and never had any siblings to share the spotlight with. Now don't get me wrong, "Ole Gin" was never neglected. Her basic needs were always cared for, such as having shelter over her head in a five bay shop. She was kept snug as a bug in a rug underneath a car cover, taken out for short drives, and washed on a bi-weekly basis. She just wasn't getting the LOVE quite yet that Aunt Velma always shown her. Fast forward four years later to 2008. Well, "The Goat" had been displayed and revered at more car shows than you can shake a stick at. Winning countless awards and trophies, filling the shop walls with all its glory. "The Goat" although far from retired, had received all the accolades it could possibly receive . It was time to present someone new to the judges. "Ole Gin" was always kind of shy at her new home, so we decided to teach her to speak up and be heard by purchasing and installing new dual exhaust below her back end. You could see her instantly cheer up and her confidence began to swell as she took her maiden voyage down the road with her two new shiny chrome tips and the throaty growl they provided. Soon after, we decided to give her the sex appeal she was lacking for so long. Yes, "Ole Gin" was given a complete exterior refreshing. We got her a fresh new coat of her original "Mopar Green" paint and buffed up all her chrome and her white vinyl top. Afterwards, we took her out for a short spin to turn the heads of on lookers and fellow drivers on the road with great success. As we were returning home one of our neighbors was out watering his flowers. He told us as we were heading toward him, it looked as if "Ole Gin's" grille and headlights were actually smiling at him. He said he's never seen a car on the road look that happy before. She was finally getting the attention she deserved. Fast forward four years later to present day. Yes, "Ole Gin" herself was taken out and shown as eye candy at several car shows and shines, winning her share of awards. But, like "The Goat", "Ole Gin" was far from retired. She still has a smile on her face when we go down the road, our neighbor swears by it. The time to present something new to the judges was once again upon us. This time choosing to go with an Oldsmobile convertible who's mere body length matches that of some modern day motorhomes (Looong)! Room in the shop has become an issue, but nobody deserves to be left out in the elements. "The Goat" was always our first love, like "Ole Gin" was Aunt Velma's. The Oldsmobile was the new love, which left "Ole Gin" like the middle child who seems to always get the short straw. We will always have a spot in our heart for "Ole Gin", like we still do for Aunt Velma. Unfortunately it's time to let her go. We only request that whoever is lucky enough to win this Good "Ole Gal", will keep her smiling forever. The following is a list of what "Ole Gin" Has and what she Don't. Also, if you would like more pics of a specific section or part, or would just like to see her in a different pose, please let me know.
