1977 Mercedes Benz 240D Runs great! New lower reserve under $900.! Inspection good through Feb 2013 in PA The good: Runs daily, body exterior pretty decent, new master cylinder, new calipers, great mpg 30+ on hwy, Converted to WVO, however needs inline pump to feed the fuel. This was one of my first conversions and I used the wrong size fuel line on the intake side - you could also bump up the diameter of the feed line to 3/8" and may be able to draw without the pump (and DRIVE for FREE on waste vegetable oil). Manual window cranks work great! Manual sunroof works great! Stereo! A great deal for under 900. $! Needs work: Underside rust - main issue is a welded control arm on the rear driver's side. It has held up well (I didn't do it) but have been advised it really needs a new control arm. Exhaust system is (barely) intact however bent in several places. It had come apart and is now back together by virtue of a flex hose connector that hangs a little lower than it should.. clears most situations though. Plan to do some exhaust work. After replacing the master cylinder, was informed it needs a new brake booster! Brakes still have the hard pedal feel a lot of the time. I still suspect some other vacuum line brake since the door locks no longer work and the vacuum shutoff no longer works. Passenger door handle from outside is broken doesn't operate - works fine from inside the car! A/C exists however has not been run since I've had it 4 years approx - belt is missing from AC pully - I highly doubt there's any freon in the system. Periodic oil leak seems to be coming from the top of the engine -a plastic elbow connector that must be cracked - Engine is strong (was told it was a rebuilt engine).. no black smoke! Car is noisy though! No dampening foam on in the hood. Front seats are terrible! Plan on getting new seats - springs are coming through! Interior in general very poor! Plan to work on it. Rear bumper has rust spot on right side. NO GUARANTEES - AS IS CONDITION - FOR RUNNING AS IS - PARTS or REPAIR! $250 Deposit due upon auction completion.
