Vehicle Detail
I purchased this LeSabre Custom 455 Convertible some time ago from a close friend of mine. Even though this car is a little outside of my normal area of interest when it comes to the cars I collect, I couldn't pass her up. I have done nothing to it besides enjoying it on nice days with the top down. In fact, I don't think I've ever driven it with the top up! Tons of service and repair work was completed prior to my ownership so that she could be driven any distance without concern. The car runs and drives excellent. The 51,000 mile odometer reading was disclosed as correct and actual when I bought the car and that may very well be true. At 45 years old and as a 25 year collector of cars from the late 1960's through the early 1970's, I feel more comfortable assuming that this is a well cared for car with 151,000 miles. In any case, the car is in good condition and ready to be enjoyed by the next owner. Exterior, interior and drivetrain are in very nice shape and she is a pretty car. Full details below. The dark metallic blue exterior is visually stunning. In direct sunlight the color is gorgeous. She was repainted her original color in 1998. A good, mid-range job was performed at that time and has held up nicely being garage kept. The car is straight and the paint holds a high gloss and shine. On close inspection I have discovered some minor blisters down low near the rocker moldings (photos provided). These blems are small and hard to see unless pointed out and they have remained unchanged over the past couple of years. The chrome and stainless trim is in nice condition. The original bumpers are faded slightly. All glass is in excellent condition including the glass back window in the Convertible top. The white power top is still bright and in excellent shape. It goes up and down smoothly with the factory power switch on the dashboard. Although not perfect, the car shows and presents itself extremely well. The upcoming photos show the car honestly and clearly. It is a beautiful looking car and one of the last full-size American Convertible's produced. The interior is in excellent condition. The seats, door panels, carpet and dash are very nice. Everything works properly regarding lights, heater/AC, wipers, horn, etc. The sound system was tastefully upgraded with a Kenwood CD player and MP3 iPod hook-up. The installation was professional and beautifully done. I still have the original AM/FM 8 track as well. All windows roll up and down smoothly. The 455 runs great and performs well. Starts easily warm or cold. No knocks or ticks and never any smoke. The transmission shifts perfectly. The suspension and brakes are tight and sound. As I stated in the 1st paragraph of this description, my friend (the previous owner) spent thousands of $$$ on repairs and service at a reputable shop here in Portland when he originally bought the car and VERY few miles have been traveled since all of that maintenance was done. A full tune-up including carburetor rebuild, all fluids replaced, brakes gone through as needed, brand new Goodyear tires and just about everything that could be serviced was serviced. The dual exhaust is near new. Bottom line: The car is mechanically sound and drives beautifully. No squeaks or vibrations of any kind. She simply glides down the road with one finger on the steering wheel. I have six-figure cars in my collection that don't drive and feel as nice on the road as this LeSabre. Even after sitting for extended periods, just turn the key and go. I will make brief comments under a few of the upcoming photos. All of my eBay experiences have been enjoyable over the years as I've sold members of my collection. I'm grateful for the kind words and compliments I've received. My opinions have guided me well and I stand behind them but please keep in mind that these are my personal opinions and observations and they may differ from your own. I welcome showing my LeSabre in person to anyone with genuine interest. I live very near the Portland Oregon Airport and would gladly pick you up. Each photo shows the car clearly and accurately. It is my intention to make this as close to you seeing and touching the car for yourself as possible. Feel free to click on the "ask a question" link here in the auction and I will respond to all polite questions. Phone calls are great too. My number is 503-887-1231 and calls between 8AM and 9PM Pacific time are just fine. My auction runs for 5 days and is scheduled to end on Tuesday evening, the 25th of September at 8PM Pacific. I reserve the right to end my auction early in the event I accept a genuine offer and the car becomes no longer available. *Everyone, especially if you are outside of the U.S. or Canada or you have a low (0) eBay rating, PLEASE SEE MY TERMS OF SALE provided below the last photo.* PLEASE, read my terms of sale located near the bottom of this screen. I'm a reasonable and kindhearted person but I will not bend on these basic terms unless previously discussed during the auction. A little communication goes a long way.NO RESERVE AUCTIONI did not set a reserve price on my Buick. All that I ask in return is for your bids to be real and your intent to purchase be sincere. I took every picture you're about to see the day before this auction started in my driveway at home. No photo has been altered or enhanced in any way. This is my Convertible and these pictures are true to her in-person appearance. Thanks for your time, DAVE Extensive servicing was done within the last 1000 miles. She's just as pretty with the top up. Glass back window. All glass is crystal clear. Both factory chrome bumpers are in good condition but slightly faded. There is light pitting in the chrome tail lights housings. The interior is very nice throughout. Please notice the small flaw at the far right edge of the dash. The top boot is new and fits perfectly. I missed one clip when I put it on before these photos. I just saw that in this photo. Again, the top boot fits snug and tight all the way around. Door rubbers and seals are all in good condition. On small flwa on the passenger door molding. Installation of updated sound system was done professionally. It is iPod and MP3 ready. I have the $1037.00 receipt for this and all 4 speakers from CarToys. To be clear: I am the kind of person that is common sense oriented and errors on the side of caution. The mileage reading at my time of purchase was right at 51,000 and expressed as actual. She's 37 years old. 151,500 seems more likely. The trunk is excellent. Based on my knowledge of the car and what was shared with me, she sat untouched for several years. Water collected and stayed in the right rear passenger seat area of the floor. Isolated to the right rear seat area. That jiffy repair is visible in this photo. Other than where water sat on the right rear passenger floor area, the undersides are solid. Please note: 1975 was the first year that catalytic converters were used in American made passenger vehicles. Most owners removed them, myself included. They were a crappy idea and made little difference at that time and performed MUCH better without them. If your State still requires emission testing on a 37 year old vehicle, you may have to spend $200 and install one, even if only temporarily. I'm happy to have that done prior to shipping at the next owners request. Most States have a collector status that exempts vehicle's of this vintage from testing. This small spot is also located at the right rear floor board from moisture collecting and going un-noticed. Very small paint blisters have formed in some places down low near the rocker moldings. This is the passenger door. The car was repainted 14 years ago. These imperfections are only visible on very close inspection or if pointed out like I'm doing. This photo is of the area between the right rear tire and passenger door. I magnified this photo and the previous to better document this flaw. Terms of Sale: 37yr old vehicle being sold AS-IS: Please read and agree with the following: I have described my Buick honestly and to the best of my ability based on 25 years of owning and driving classic vehicles. I have 100% faith in the drivability of my car and to my knowledge everything is in excellent working order per my written description above. I have the free and clear Oregon title in my possession. I would drive her anywhere but she is 37 years old and routine service and repairs should be expected. If you are not comfortable with a sight-unseen purchase, please come see her for yourself or have an independent inspection performed PRIOR to bidding. I will not be responsible for the decisions of others. I would appreciate the winning bidder contacting me immediately upon end of auction just so the lines of communication are opened. My number is 503-887-1231. -PAYMENT TERMS- A $1000.00 deposit is due within 24 hours of auction ending preferably through PayPal just so we are both protected. Wire transfers and verifiable cashier checks are also acceptable. I'm an easy going person so if you need to make special financial arrangements just let me know BEFORE you bid and I'll try to help. I have been with the same bank here in Portland for over 8 years and the Management staff knows me. You are welcome to contact them for your own security if you like. The remaining balance is due in-full within 7 calendar days of auction end in the form of secure funds. Some banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles of this vintage. Make sure if you are financing that your financial institution accepts the year and value of this vehicle before bidding. Please have your method of payment arranged prior to auction ending.TRANSPORT - SHIPPING I am happy to be an active and hands-on part of this process from start to finish but the buyer is ultimately responsible for pickup or shipping of this vehicle and any pre-purchase inspections need to be done BEFORE auction ending. If you wish to have it shipped using a service, I will gladly assist in loading and be present for the transport condition form and other reasonable help. Locating a transporter is the buyers responsibility but I can make recommendations and share the relationships I've built. Vehicle transport has become very reasonable. I personally use a privately owned trucking company. They have handled the movements of my collection and all of my transport needs perfectly for the last 4 years with careful handling, excellent rates and fast service even all the way to the East Coast. I will provide contact info at your request. Dependable Auto Shippers (D.A.S.) is a transporter that eBay recommends and my experiences with them were just fine. My location zip code is 97214. Coast-to-Coast transport is around $1400.00 and even less the closer you are to Oregon. Shipping to Australia, Europe and other Countries has also become affordable and easy to arrange. I will stay involved throughout this entire process and help in any way possible. If you are outside of the United States or Canada, you MUST contact me BEFORE bidding. If you are an eBay member with negative history or have a (0) or low transaction score, I need to hear from you just to verify your sincerity and accept your bids as genuine. We all started from (0) and I'm happy to give a leg up. I reserve the right to cancel bids for these reasons. Communication is all I ask.I reserve the right to end the auction at any time if the vehicle is no longer available or otherwise SOLD.
