Vehicle Detail
I am selling my 1996 Ferrari F355 Spider with NO RESERVE - See pics! This car has turned so many heads and garners more comments than I can remember. I purchased the car nearly 2 years ago as a salvage/rebuilt. The car was hit on the left rear. The rebuild was done professionally and all OEM parts were used. I've seen some hack rebuilds and this is NOT one of them. Car looks beautiful. I had the car thoroughly inspected by a reputable Ferrari shop near Kenosha Wisconsin and also had a leakdown/compression test done. The car passed with flying colors and a copy of the report is available. The oil pressure sending unit was bad. I have the OEM Ferrari part but have not had the chance to install it. On Saturday upon startup a ton of white smoke was pouring from the exhaust. I am told that I have a blown head gasket and that the F355 is particularly sensitive to this issue. Dennis McCann's Feerari parts has the OEM gasket for $119.95, part #150311. The car can still be driven a short distance and I have no problem with a serious buyer coming for a brief test drive. The car starts instantly and rides as straight as an arrow. Tires are relatively new and have excellent tread depth remaining. Brakes are excellent and car can stop on a dime. The paint is glossy and the color combo of blue with red leather is striking. I had the front bumper repainted due to the typical rock chips, so no more white spots. The title is clean and clear in my name with no 3rd party payoff. I was told when I purchased the car that there was a reported mileage issue but I have no reason to believe these are original miles based on the title progression with dates and condition of the car. For a 1996, it's very very clean. There is a Sony single CD player that works fine. The rest of this F355 is completely stock. I have had some issues worth the convertible top getting stuck, but it can usually be taken care of with the override button and a little help by hand. The airbag light also came on recently after my battery died. There is a new battery installed this summer. Factory alarm works as it should. All power options also work fine. NO check engine lights. I passed emissions with flying colors. I am a long time E-Bay seller and have sold my personal cars on here before. I would not jeapardise my perfect feedback history as a Seller. High bidder takes the car. If you have any questions or would like to see the car please call me (847)293-1447. I am located in Riverwoods, IL about 30 minutes south of the Wisconsin border and 25 miles north of Chicago. On Sep-19-12 at 07:48:02 PDT, seller added the following information: Update 9/19/12 I just spoke to a certified Ferrari mechanic and the problem may less serious than originally thought. I added several quarts of oil last week, thinking the level was low, as the engine temp. gauge was running a bit high and I noticed a low level on the oil dipstick with the engine off (my mistake). I assumed it was low on oil and causing an overheat - however the mechanic believes that the smoke is that extra oil that has made it's way into the intake manifold because I overfilled the dry sump without the engine running. He feels that the coolant temp sensor is most likely bad. The car has never overheated into the "red". The smoke does not smell at all like burning oil. I could cancel the auction but will let it go, most likely to a VERY lucky buyer. On Sep-21-12 at 07:57:58 PDT, seller added the following information: I am including in the sale a new OEM Ferrari Pressure Gauge Sending Unit, Unopened Oil Change Kit purchased last month from Ricambi, and a MASSIVE Ferrari Shop Manual - at Least $500 in extras - the Shop Manual is rare and priceless - very heavy book - probably 1,000 pages of useful information. I am at my photo limit so please call or e-mail and include your e-mail address if you would like a photo of these parts.
