~~oo00oo~~ PRICE REDUCED! - Discounted by $7,500Serious buyers please feel free to make an offer. Mercedes 560 SL "AMG" 1988 Possibly "THE" very best 560 SL available. This is the most immaculate SL you will most likely find currently for sale. For those of you who dont know me and have not seen my regular auctions, I am a Rolls-Royce expert of some 30 years specialising solely in that marque. But every now and then, I will come across an exceptional car. This AMG 560SL is one such car and this is when I make an exception. It is a 2 owner car from new. It looks and drives like it is a 1 year old car. It is simply stunning! This is definitely an example for the Mercedes purist. This is an American delivery 560 SL finished in Anthracite (Metallic charcoal) with light grey leather interior. It has an AMG kit utilising Lorinser wheels. It has had European specification headlamps fitted which is a nice finisher. The body on this SL is straight as a dye. The previous owner was a Mercedes collector and super fussy! Even though car is completely accident free and the paint was generally good, in seeking perfection, he commissioned a factory style repaint in the same colour at a stunning cost of $25,000. It is absolutley perfect and flawless. The finish is second to none and simply cannot be faulted. The car has been in Illinois almost all its life but ONLY driven in the summer months, so the car is clean as a whistle underneath with no rust at all - absolutely ZERO! All the door jams and inside edges are like new. The interior of the car is better than excellent! It "IS" like new. Finished in light grey, every single finish is in fantastic shape. The original dash does not have the typical cracks which is otherwise very common on these SLs. The burl walnut wood is 100% original and excellent to perfect, the carpets perfect, the leather seats are all original with no wear and NEVER redyed (all the stitching looks like it was just sewn), the plastic chrome fittings on the seats are literally as brand-new. Even the seat belts show as if they have never been used and retract perfectly. The steering wheel is like new without the wear normally seen. These later SLs have the "rest of world" spec A/C & heater controls which were a far superior design to the continually faulting US spec climate control system used in North America on earlier cars. It has an after market Alpine system which works well and is powerfully amped. Unfortunately, the original Becker radio/cassette is not with the car which is a shame. The interior is absolutely without a shadow of doubt, a 10-out-of-10 and unquestionably of concours quality. In one of the photos you will see where the previous owner had 3 sets of floor mats to protect the original carpet - now that is anal! Mechanically the car is exceptional. 2 owner serviced from new by Mercedes Benz agents so everything is as it should be. Looking throughout the car there are various serviced items displaying factory MB stickers. Just a look at the condition under the hood says it all - and this has NOT been cleaned up for sale. This is how the owner regularly maintained the car. This SL drives true and straight and feels firm. The steering is tight and the car does not have a single rattle or thump generally associated with these convertibles. None of the silly “rattles” and “looseness” quite normally experienced with SLs. This one is great – with the roof off, you can drive it down the roughest of roads and it feels nice and tight. It brakes true and sure and accelerates strong and hard. Exhaust is good and the tyres are near new. The car does come nwith its original books and MB pouch. Although no detailed receipts of service or history, the condition of this SL is exactly what you would expect for a well maintained car by 2 crazily fussy Mercedes Benz enthusiast owners for 25 years!! The soft top is the original MB fitment and is also perfect showing little sign of use. The fabric is without wear and not the slightest bit faded. The plastic windows are excellent and clear, and even the inside lining is without any marks. The storage compartment for the folding roof looks like a new car. The original hard top in correct matching Anthracite with white interior lining is included and also in equally "as-new" condition without any scratches in the paint or chrome whatsover. All the lights, signals, and interior illumination work as they should. ~~This SL makes for an excellent summer 10-out-of-10 driver. But make no mistake, it is of virtual show car quality. It would meet the high standards of any MB purist and I believe it could be shown with the aim to win awards. Indeed, it is that perfect and that good!~~ ** Please note: This is a “nice weather daily driver” so mileage may vary slightly at time of sale. The photos of this car say it all so take the time to have a look at the photo link below. There sre some 200 photos with mnay close up shots to show the extremely high quality condition of the car. If you have high speed internet, I highly recommend you use the “slideshow” feature. Click HERE to see additional photos! I am happy to take offers but please keep them sensible given the condition of this SL. ~~oo00oo~~ Click HERE to see additional photos! ~~oo00oo~~ This Mercedes Benz is part of a private collection. Although licensed and bonded, I am not a mainstream broker or retail style car dealer; I am a professional car collector of some 30 years with considerable experience and knowledge of British and European Cars. I have a long standing reputation being associated with Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor cars which I take seriously. I take a lot of pride in my cars and have fun in collecting and restoring them. This Mercedes is no exception. However, auctions are not a game so when you place a bid or offer, and you are the winning bidder, please understand you have entered a binding contract. You cannot bid and win the auction and expect not to meet the terms and conditions. Bidding and/or winning does not mean you are expecting me to “hold” the car until you have the opportunity to inspect it. Any inspection contemplated should be undertaken BEFORE you bid or make an offer and I openly welcome any potential buyer to come and personally inspect the car. Once you bid or make an offer, you are doing so to buy WITHOUT conditions. A $2000.00 deposit (non-refundable) is required within 24 hours of the close of the auction and payable by PayPal. The balance of funds are required within 7 days of the close of the auction and must be provided by cashier’s check or bank wire. I cannot accept PayPal for the balance unless you are willing to meet the cost of transfer fees. Full payment must be made (and payments cleared) before the title and/or the vehicle is released. All payments are non-refundable. Payments as described above form an important part of this purchase contract and so, if all the funds are not received as outlined above, I reserve the right to terminate the transaction without notice. If there has been any deposit or other part payments received and I elect to terminate the contract, I reserve the right to keep any such deposits or payments and resell the vehicle to another bidder or interested party or re-list the vehicle at any time. I am happy to assist with shipping arrangements on a national and worldwide basis but the winning bidder takes full responsibility for pickup and/or shipping and at his cost. As a collector and experienced restorer of classic cars, I make every effort to bring my cars to a very high standard. Unless specifically stated, the car is not of show standard but of good quality "driver" condition. Please understand, the very nature of these classics is such that it is not always possible to attend to every single item, or perhaps I may have inadvertently overlooked an item. Please note, fitted radio/stereo systems are usually subject to upgrade by purchasers so I do not ensure operation of these. Further, a feature or function that is working perfectly one moment, may decide to play-up the next. After all, it is some 33 years old. For this reason it is necessary for the following condition: The vehicle is being sold "as-is/where-is" with no warranty expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are made with reasonable judgment and all efforts are made to ensure fair assessment and accuracy but they are for descriptive and identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. The seller shall not be responsible for errors in description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, unforeseen imperfection, defect or damage. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have satisfied himself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgment solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects at the buyer’s request prior to the close of the auction. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle. Being a classic car in excess of 10 years of age, in most US states, the mileage may be recorded as “exempt”. In this regard the seller makes no warranties as to the accuracy of the mileage indicated or shown and accepts no responsibility for any discrepancy with independent reports such as Carfax, AutoCheck, etc. I can hold the vehicle up to 30 days while you arrange shipping but you must immediately insure it. I will not bear any responsibility for any additional costs including storage, transportation, or repair after the close of the auction. Whereas I am happy to store the car in excess of 30 days from auction end, a cost of $35 per day shall apply beyond 30 days of auction end. Also, you must remember that this is a classic +/-27 year old vehicle, and while it is up to you, I do not recommend that you just “hop in and drive it across the country”. At least, I have never done that. I have always professionally transported the cars in enclosed carriers from where I bought them to my home. PLEASE; IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ABIDE BY THESE TERMS, DO NOT BID AS, RESPECTFULLY, THERE CAN BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
