Vehicle Detail
1950 Chevrolet "3100" 1/2 ton pickup, in original condition and dark green paint. The body has never been touched or repaired as far as I can tell. It is complete and original with the exception of the front bumper splash pan. The interior is original with the exception of the front seat being recovered by the previous owner. The spare tire is mounted on the passenger side using what appears to be an after market tire mount. While I've owned the truck for over 30 years, I have not look into these sorts of details. I purchased the truck in 1980 in Tulsa, Oklahoma where it lived for it's first 30 years. I drove the truck from Tulsa to it's present home in Geneva, Ohio. The truck drove fine without any problems encountered and continues to do so. I replaced the original 16 inch tires and rims with 15 inch rims and tires to get it home. I have the original 16 inch rims that still show the two white, pinstriped, lines. The fuel gauge, battery gauge and speedometer did not work when I bought it and still are not working. The only gauges that work are the temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge. The engine appears to have been rebuilt prior to my purchase in 1980 and does not burn any significant amouts of oil. The truck has been kept in a dry garage and has not been exposed to any salt, snow or rain. The only time it gets wet was when I washe it. I drive it around occasionally to keep things operating properly, but I don't suppose I've put more than 5000 additional miles on it myself. The wipers work slowly when turned on and there is an added on vacuum cylinder for them? The wiring is original and shows it's age with dim headlights. There are some minor oil drips from the transmission. I believe I have a radio for it that was purchased at a swap meet and it looks like it should fit? I got it for $5.00 and it's been in a box and I never attempted to install it. There is no rust through areas in the body, interior door panels, floorboards, door jambs, running boards and mounts, etc. are solid. There is a type of surface rust in small areas, but does not appear to have penetrated. There is some penetration on the tail gate and hub caps. Refer to the attached pictures for verifications. I have not had to do much repair work since I've owned it. The few repairs made involved the replacement of the seal around the differential cover, a complete brake job, master cylinder, silicone brake fluid and engine tune up. The silicone does not absorb water like regular brake fluid and, as a result, the brake cylinders do not bind up while in winter storage. The truck drives nice, is relatively tight, shifts good with the steering a little loose. The second gear synchronizers are worn, so a little care is required to get it into second without grinding. The truck is complete, unrestored and could be upgraded to show quality. The truck can be driven almost anywhere, taking into account that it is 62 years old and is all original. The title is clean and clear. The truck is in great shape considering it's age and can be driven daily with lots of originality and patina. The truck is located in Geneva, Ohio and can be inspected and driven. Use eBay messageing for any additional information or clarification questions. A fair reserve has been set, but only serious bidders please. The truck needs a new home with, hopefully, someone wanting and able to restore it. I wanted to restore it , but ran out of time.
