Vehicle Detail

LOW RESERVE !!! 1957 BMW Isetta 300 Sliding Window Coupe VIN # 576468 Odometer: 34443 miles I bought this car in September of 2002 from a gentleman in Raleigh, NC. He bought the car from a gentleman in San Carlos, CA in February 2001. To the best of my knowledge, he did most of the restoration work. The engine was rebuilt by Werner Schwark (noted Isetta specialist and owner of Isetta’s-R-Us Parts Supply and Restorations). At that time it started up and ran fine but needed some detail work that I will try to describe (I did all of this work myself.). · Cleaned and rebuilt the carburetor with new glass bowl · New air filter and carb-to-air filter hose · New fuel valve · New muffler and rubber hanging straps · New ignition switch · New voltage regulator · New battery · New silent blocks for the steering and front suspension · New door support cylinder and silent blocks · New door seal · New outside door handle with 2 keys · New side mirror · New sunroof edge strip and center top bow · New hubcaps · Rebuilt seat with new cover and padding (professionally installed) It has been stored in a heated garage ever since I bought it. The car has been in 3 car shows since I have owned it and it has never failed to draw the most attention from the spectators and all the kids recognize it as looking like the Urkel car from the TV show Family Matters. Vehicle Condition: As you can see in the pictures, it cleans up well and looks great from 20 feet. When you get closer to it you can see some stone chips and paint imperfections. It also has the rare Beauty Rings on the wheels and, with the hubcaps, the wheels look like they have full wheelcovers. The last time I drove it, the engine lost its spark and I have installed a new points plate assembly and condenser, but I have not timed it and it has sat since. Since it hasn’t been started in over 3 years, the fuel system (Stabil was added but the tank was not drained) needs to be cleaned. When I was moving it (pushing) for these pictures, the rear wheels locked up. Upon examination, one of the rear wheel brake shoe linings had separated from the shoe bracket so the brakes will need to be examined. The car comes with 1 ignition key, 2 door keys, engine cover removal key, original owner’s manual, and an extra battery. It has a clean MI title in my name. I am also including a Deltran 12 volt Battery Tender maintenance charger. Included with this auction is over 40 pieces of collectable Isetta memorabilia encompassing magazine articles, a copy of the US patent for the front door / steering wheel, 7 Isetta models, 2 metal Isetta signs, Isetta quartz watch with leather band, Isetta and Microcar books, Isetta brochure, Accessory brochures, 3 Maintenance books (shop manuals), authentic BMW Mobile Traditions Isetta tie clip, authentic BMW Mobile Traditions Isetta tie pin, authentic BMW Mobile Traditions Isetta coffee cup, extra Owner’s Manual, 4 Isetta T-Shirts (2 Blue & 2 Red – all men’s XL size) and much more. Two volumes of Isetta Restoration by John Jensen (the bible of Isetta restorations) – one is the collectable original edition autographed by John and Eric Bley (who was instrumental in assisting John in his book) and one is a 2nd edition version with typographical corrections, also signed by John. I used this one as my working bible. I am also including a number of extra Isetta parts that can be used as spares or resold to recoup some of your original investment. These include (in no particular order): · New Exhaust Header pipe – old style w/o heat · Used Windshield seal · Used Voltage Regulator · Used Ignition switch · Used Air Filter · 2 – Used Fuel Valves · New Ignition Points set · Used Points Plate assembly · Used Exterior Door handle · New Wheel Wave washers · Used Speedometer · Used Driver’s Side Mirror · Used Oil Pan · 3 – Used Hubcaps · 2 – New Vent Grilles · Used Cylinder Head · 2 – Valve Covers · And more As I am advertising the car locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early. Terms and Conditions: I accept cash, cashiers check, or personal check (must allow 10 days for checks to clear). $500 deposit due within 4 days of completion of auction. Balance due before pick-up or shipment. I cannot ship but I will assist in any way I can ... Buyer to pay all shipping costs. DO NOT BID unless you are serious about buying … Since I have had problems with ‘Non-Buying’ bidders in the past, bidders with less than 10 POSITIVE feedbacks must contact me prior to bidding. The car is located in Southeastern Michigan (Manitou Beach) and I invite ALL bidders to come and inspect it prior to bidding. If you have any questions, please email me or phone [(734) 730-7054] before bidding. GOOD LUCK !!!
