Vehicle Detail

I always liked the Bertone coupe with its chopped roof, except for the C pillar, so I thought some exploratory surgery was called for. I guess this is a 263es Volvo with Dodge Magnum or Audi Allroad influence. It will be a scene stealer at any Volvo Club meeting. The doner Bertone is a California, crash and rust free example. The ownership is clear and non-opped. There is a low reserve on it because how many people are going to be into this car, maybe only one Its in the mock up stage and is an as is unfinished project. I have to move for a job change and I have too many cars already and also this project was sort of a hairbrained idea that grew out of control. I really don't have time for a project this big. The V6 motor and trans are disposed of. I planned Chevy v8 conversion and a 350 performance short block that needs freshening and used cyl. heads are included, or 383 shortblock that needs building. I have a 240 Chevy Volvo I've been driving for 20 yrs so I can advise and demonstrate this swap. Also there's a book included by Mike Knell about the V8 Conversion The photos with the blue wagon panels are a mock up to get the right proportions. Rear pillar is leaned forward. The rear of the wagon side window is only 9" high. You can play around with the proportions or use these panels as patterns. The remnants of the Bertone C pillar are still present here but I felt they didn't work so latter, cut them out and plan to use the wagon C pillars The photo with the white wagon panels is where its at now. Its not permanently attached. The whole Bertone chassis is still intact and the Bertone rear panels were removed at the lower line by drilling out spot welds. I've had second thoughts about my method because I was planned the joining through the wheel tubs assuming they were the same but they're slightly different. I've left the wagon roof intact at this point to support the rear wagon body until welded. The photo of the Orange car is a cut and paste of a photo of a stock wagon. I've fabricated a rear roof adjustable fixture and braces for the chassis and Bertone roof. The project comes with the Chevy motor parts mentioned above and: A Volvo driveshaft modified to fit to a Chevy 700r4 trans. A complete IPD performance suspension kit. ie springs, sway bars and shocks. (no longer sold) Racy, high bolster bucket seats, not sure what they're out of...might be aftermarket. MSR 044 18x8 wheels and used tires off late model Mustang, will need adapters or a Ford/Mopar rearend A book by Mike Knell of JTR on Volvo 200 V8 conversions. All you ever wanted to know and more The car is a roller on the original Bertone wheels and I can assist you or a shipping company with loading.
