Vehicle Detail

Offering a great little “27 T” modified/hot rod that's running a built up flathead and 5 speed manual transmission. This car is not a show car but is extremely well built, draws a lot of attention and is a blast to drive. It's proven to be reliable and fast. Body: The body is all steel 1927 Ford T (and so titled). The front half is from a touring sedan with a new, roadster style back panel and bun panels. The body has no rust; it's all been cut out and patch panels welded in. The sheet metal is basically "roughed in" and painted over. It wouldn't take much to block it out and repaint it, but it's solid as a tank as it sits. The doors open and latch like new with new latches and strikers. The floor is wood, easily removable in sections for access; the front section is new oak. The dash is steel and solid. The steering wheel is removable. The custom “naugahyde” upholstered seat fits well and is actually comfortable to ride (probably for a maximum of 6 ft and 200 lb, as am I). There's a storage compartment with left and right side access doors built right behind the cockpit. The body is not thin, flimsy or beat up at all. Very solid. Remote battery terminals and battery management connection are accessible from cowl vent door. Chassis: 1931 Chevy frame that's been sturdily Z'ed and boxed in the rear. The car sits fairly low but looks good and drives well with good driver position. It has a 1946 Ford open banjo rear end and a suicide front end setup with a 46 Ford axle and front and rear split wishbones. It has a T style spring in the back with no shocks; the front has friction shocks. The front end also features an early 1930's Pontiac splash pan and modified grille shell. The rear features a 1957 Caddy front bumper top/center section. The steering box is an F-1 and works well. Brakes are hydraulic, 46 Ford, all the way around, and have been rebuilt with new hoses and lines. Fuel is delivered from a Model T gas tank by an electric fuel pump. The Chevy frame and 46 Ford Truck axles make for a really heavy, sturdily built chassis. This car rides and feels solid, very well built. Wheels/Tires: Firestone bias blackwalls on 1940 Ford steel rims, 700x16 Rears and 4.50x16's fronts. New 1942 Ford caps and complementary trim rings. Electrical: 12 volt generator system with Model A taillights/brake lights and 1930's Chevy headlights. All lights work as do all of the vintage gauges. The 50's Ford Speedo works well. It has an ignition switch and push button starter with no key. Turn on the ignition, flip the fuel pump switch (under the dash) on and press the button. Equipped with a horn, but no direction signals. Newly rebuilt starter. Engine/Transmission: The heart of this roadster is a 286 flathead with Edelbrock heads and intake, 3/4 cam and a full oiling system. The three Stromberg 97's are progressive and all function. It has new Speedway water pumps; the radiator is solid and the car runs cool even on a hot day. It has Fenton headers out to dual cherry bombs and scavenger pipes (sounds and feels awesome). Open drive shaft. Ignition features a new Mallory dual point distributor. This car runs strong, some fumes (aromas) and occasional drips, but raw fun. The transmission is a 5 speed Toyota that's mated to the engine via an Australian “Flattrack” adapter. This is a great setup that is drivable on the highway. This little roadster is a well-designed and over-built hot rod, originally from Missouri. The gentleman that built this car unfortunately passed away. We don't know the full history of the engine, including its mileage, but it has all the right parts, doesn't smoke and runs very strong. This car was captured in nostalgia drags and featured in a magazine or two. If you are looking for a fun, dependable, strong running traditional style modified hot rod that’s ready to drive… here it is. Currently registered in Wisconsin with a clean Wisconsin title and full insurance. Additional Comments: Need to mention that the SE Wisconsin potholes can make for a harsh ride. Changing-out the front spring to a reverse-eye design, softening the rear spring and adding shocks would be good improvements for road conditions such as these. There is a quarter-size dent in the top, left side of the gas tank. A graduated paint stir-stick functions as a gas gauge. Purchased on e-Bay over three-and-a-half years ago, much of this description is pulled from the second owner. I always wanted to own/build a 50’s nostalgia type hot rod, but I’ve been super-busy with other vehicles and a family business.
