I am relisting this item because the winning bidder didn't have enough money to pay for it! PLEASE do not bid if you don't intend to pay! For your bid is a 1983 VW Rabbit Diesel Pick-up with a removable cap. I bought this truck not runnig in 1999 from a friend who had just moved to PA from Texas. I replaced the engine with a used eng from an automatic Rabbit of the same year I have the original short block and it goes with the truck unless it is not wanted, it will need to be rebored. I mainly used the truck for running errands and hauling firewood on the farm. I replaced the speedo after the original odometer quit working at 154,000 miles so that it would pass PA inspection. The one I installed had approx. 220,000 miles on it and still works. The body is in good condition in the front but the rear has some rust problems which can easily be repaired. I took lots of pictures of the rust areas. Most every thing works and it does run but will need a new battery. It has nearly new front brake rotors and other front end parts. It could use new front strus as well as rear shocks and prob. some brake lines. It uses some oil and leaks from the valve cover, but since I never went more than 50 miles from home it was not a problem, I'm a regular oil checker. It came with AC but did not work and so I removed it, The radio is missing, there is only one speed for the heater fan, horn works sometimes and the Water temp gage just quit working, maybe a fuse. I bought a 93 Toyota 4x4 pick-up last Spring so the VW has been sitting. The seats and headliner are pretty much shot and it will need lots of TLC. I have to say that it was a great little truck that could do a lot of work for its size and I will miss it but, I'm 75 years old and feel it so I'll just let somebody else fix it up!
