Vehicle Detail
This is a 1967-1/2 Datsun 1600 roadster convertible (low windscreen model) that is completely restored cosmetically and in excellent condition. This car was acquired by me in 2002. At that time I did a complete strip down of the exterior and interior and had the car painted. There is no body or undercarriage rust with the exception of some minor rust on the interior floorboard (under the carpet). There are no dents or dings anywhere on the body. The original color was the Datsun pale-yellow (some of the color is still visible in the pictures of the engine area), but I had it painted in the 2002 "Honda 2000" sports car color. The seats are original and are in excellent condition. The door panels were re-upholstered and new carpeting was installed everywhere. All the window, door, trunk, hood and side door trim were replaced with new rubber. The tires are in excellent condition. The chrome is all original and in very good condition with the exception of some minor pitting on one of the tail light housings. The bumpers are also in great shape. The clock does not work and the gas and temperature gauges are temperamental but they do work. Cosmetically the car is a 9.5. At this time the car has 77,735 miles on the odometer. The plate under the hood is stamped with the following numbers: "Car #14185, Engine #53528, Nissan Motor Co. Ltd." Mechanically the car is in very good to excellent condition. When I acquired the car it had approximately 75,500 mile on it. Prior to my ownership, the car had been owned by a friend of mine who had stored it since he purchased it in early 1995. He had mechanical work done as needed, but he finally decided it was time for it to go to a good home, (mine) so that it could be properly restored. Prior to his ownership, it had been owned by 2 others who had also done all mechanical work as needed. I have a binder that contains all the repair records that were kept dating back to 1985. The records document what repairs were done and the costs since that time. The most significant mechanical work was done in October 1995 with the mileage at 74,374. At that time the car had a complete valve job as well as other miscellaneous repairs. Since that time the car has been driven very little (3,350 miles in 12 years). Under my ownership, mechanically I have replaced the water pump and thermostat, and most recently did a complete rear brake cylinder rebuild as well as new brake linings and had the brake drums ground. The car has an aftermarket hardtop that is in very good condition. I also have a convertible top that has all of the mechanism's but is in need of new material. Among the miscellaneous parts that I have are a trunk luggage rack (I did not install it because the car looks better without it), some extra latches, spare lights and housings, mirror hardware, and miscellaneous hoses. This vehicle is ready to go and nothing needs to be done to it. You can start enjoying it immediately.
