Vehicle Detail

1968 Dodge Coronet Model 440. I bought this car locally from a gentleman who had gotten it from a muslcecar dealer in Missouri. The Fender Tag decodes it to be a 383 Big Block with 290hp, a 727 Torque Flite trans, and an open diff 8 3/4 rear. I believe the gear ratio is in the neighborhood of a 3:23 or so. The engine now has a Weiand 4 Barrel intake and a Holley 4 Barrel carb and full length headers. The engine is believed to have been rebuilt and a slightly larger cam seems evident at idle. I just had the oil pump rebuilt, a new starter put in, and a new idler arm. The transmission is slipping in 2nd gear and is leaking fluid out of the shift linkage connection on the side of the trans. I keep it topped off and drive the car easy without any problems. It only slips when the fluid gets low. It does stay fairly clean and unburned, so a light rebuild is all that should be needed. The exhaust is true dual but hangs low and looks alittle cobbled. The header flanges are alittle bent and are leaking abit, but it's not obnoxious. The car has 4 wheel drums and is having an issue with the right front drum. My mechanic said it'd be cheaper to do a power front disc brake conversion than to spend time messing with the drums and trying to balance the braking correctly. The interior is decent but will need a total redo to be show quality. The body is 100% solid with new quarters. Bring your magnet! I was very shocked when I first saw the car and found only slight traces of filler in the lower front fenders behind the wheels. The trunk is solid, but I was told there are patch panels riveted in somewhere in the trunk and atleast one floor pan. I've never seen the underside on a lift, so I'm going by what I'm told. The right front frame rail has a few cracks or holes in it behind the right front wheel. As well as a baseball size hole in the right front transom under the passenger floorboard. I'm thinking this was caused by driving that side of the car in the gutter for years of snow and rain etc. My mechanic estimated roughly $500 to repair the frame. The tires are also dry rotted and will need to be replaced. I will list at the end of this novel the extra parts that come with the car. I've tried to be as honest as possible about what the car needs. It runs real good, but it will need the brakes fixed to be safe to drive, and the transmission rebuilt to keep it going properly. Throw a shift kit in the trans and some taller gears with a posi unit in the 8 3/4 and have fun!! Any questions, please contact me here and leave me your phone number if you want. I don't want to post my number and field a bunch of stupid questions from tire kickers. I'm getting divorced and this unfortunely is the first thing to go. I bought the car with the intention of doing a running restoration. The body is very straight but may require some blocking to be perfect. I was quoted around $4500 to paint the car. The trim is pretty good and the front bumper is fairly nice. The rear bumper is fogged and has a dent. The glass in this car is very nice too. ****I forgot to mention, **** *Rear bumper brackets are rusted through and need to be replaced *CT does not title vehicles more than 25 yrs old, so you will be getting a bill of sale only *Actual mileage unknown NO WARRANTY EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED!! Spare parts... New trunk seal weather strip Original radio and face plate All trim and chrome/lettering etc not on the car already (I think...) Green seatbelt set and rear arm rests (black seatbelts in car now) Bumper gaurds (front I think) Brand new ADDCO front sway bar kit with poly bushings New used dash pad and a new dash cap (if you prefer) New rear quarter window felts/sweeps
