Vehicle Detail
For Auction: 1966 Checker Marathon A12. (This car was never a Taxi Cab). It has the original 283 Chevy engine with Powerglide transmission. Everything is there on this car. Speedometer reads 64163. The speedo is working properly but I think the mileage is more like 164163 (but not 264163) judging by the underside of the car.(I dont think it is 64163 original miles). I only know the history of the car since 1985. The car does run and drive fairly well. This car was undercoated by Zeibart. The body is still decent and for the most part straight. The chrome is good in some spots and poor in others but not rusted just faded. There is some rust in a few spots but car is still very solid and would make excellent candidate for vintage restoration. Looks like there has been some prior body work done. I think some of the paint is factory original. (I am not a body and fender man but there has been some paint work done). The frame is good, with some of the undercoating starting to come off. Trunk pan and floor pans are solid and all the glass is good. Even the AM radio still works. There is a small amount of rodent damage to the rear seat upholstery otherwise interior is still in great condition. This car was purchased by my Great Aunt Rose back in Nov.1983. It sat in the original owners garage until Mar.1985. My Great Aunt transfered the title and purchased a plate tag during the same time. My father tuned this car and drove it to Knox, Indiana at this time also. My Great Aunt Rose passed away in Jan.2007. She willed the car to my youngest brother. The car sat in the barn in Knox until Jan.2008. My brother and I took it to his home at this time. He started working on it. He fell on financial hard times and I purchased the car from him. I have had the original fuel tank cleaned and repaired by a company called Tank Renew in Pennsylvania, guaranteed to never leak or rust again. I have had the original alternator rebuilt. I have had the original radiator recored. I had the exhaust that was on the car duplicated. This car has an unusual Y-Pipe and I could not find a replacement for it. I used parts of the original and a piece of Walker Stainless Braided flex pipe to make up a decent Y-Pipe so the exhaust is mostly new and quiet. I rebuilt the original master cylinder. I have tried to keep it original as much as I can. I have done many other things to this car related to a car that has been sitting for so long. (Still should have some things done to it if you are going to drive it often without restoring it). When I purchased this car from my brother, I did it as a favor to him. I truly did not want this car and still dont. I repaired the things neccessary to get the car operational again. It has turned out to be a decent old car that has alot of potental for somebody who is interested in the old Checker Motor Company vehicles. I have all the paper work to verify the history of this car. In reality it is a 2 owner car that has been driven just over 130 miles in the last 27 yrs. Thanks for looking! ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL ME AT 219-992-9639. Todd Wallen I reserve the rite to end this auction at anytime as this car is being advertised FOR SALE locally.
