Vehicle Detail

This 1970 Challenger is part of my private collection. I purchased it in 2004. It has always been stored in a heated and air conditioned shop while I owned it. I am an automotive development engineer with 30 years experience and a bit of an automotive fanatic. I searched for a 1970 Challenger in this good a condition for 5 years befor I found this one. I have examined almost all of the car since I've owned it and only found surface rust in a few areas. There are also some small bubbles in the vinyl roof which I'm not sure is rust or assembly imperfections. Galen Govier inspected the car and registered it in the Chrysler Registry as a real 440 Magnum, RT, Hurst Pistol Grip 4 speed, Sublime car. The body panels and interior are original and in excellent shape. The engine and trans are not numbers matching. There has been one repaint. The panel fit is excellent but the panel straightness shows some imperfections that are too small to show up in the pictures (waviness). There is one small ding in the rear stripe which is too small to show up in the pictures. The balance of the car is excellent. I have had the speedo and tach reconditioned, added aircraft landing lights in the brights location, XVI front sway bars, XVI nitrogen shocks, XVI front supports. The balance of the car is stock. The car was showing approximately 30,000 miles when I bought it (by memory). The speedo was reset to 0 when reconditioned. This car always starts with no effort and runs strong. One of the best 1970 Challenger RT's I know of. For serious buyers only call me (Jim) with questions at 262-443-9100.On Aug-07-12 at 19:29:31 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had many questions on panel quality (waviness). It is difficult to accurately describe since it is subjective. A non "car person' would say the car looks like new and is great. A "car person" could see the waviness in some panels from 5 or 10'. It appears to me like the previous owner did not always use a block to prep the car for paint. The majority of imperfections may color sand out but I can't guarantee it. I have shot many pictures into a 500 watt halogen light looking down the side of the car, or behind the light, with flash and without flash but I can't get the imperfections to show up in a picture. Hope this description helps.
