2008 Volkswagen RABBIT / GOLF – NO Reserve!!! Up for sale is my ’08 Rabbit. I purchased the car new and it currently has approximately 88,482 miles. For as hard as I have driven this car, it has never left me stranded. That being said, I’m sad to see it go….we’ve had some great adventures!! She has and will continue to make a great daily driver or weekend autocross car. I am offering this car at NO RESERVE!! Bid with confidence!! Engine +Drivetrain 9/10 All I can say is I don’t understand why more people don’t hold the 2.5 5-cylinder in higher regard. This engine is bulletproof. With the modifications done, the engine turns very quickly…torque is abundant at very low RPMs. The car averages 26 MPG around town and 33 MPG highway (I refrain from using the AC). 2nd Gear starts are a piece of cake. *Recent Maintenance -Routine Mobile 1 Synthetic Oil Changes, every 3-5k Miles (not VW’s recommended 10k intervals) Last Change @ 86k Miles -Ignition Coils/fuel filer/sparks are less than 7k miles old -Motul Synthetic Gearbox Oil @ 84k, Clutch/syncros are in perfect working order *Performance Upgrades -GIAC Dealer installed software -Passed Illinois Emmisions in 2012 -Ram Air Intake with canister filter (does cause CEL), I still have the stock intake with synthetic dry filter and this eliminates CEL. -Lightweight ECS Underdrive Pulley -Custom Built Straight Pipe 2.25” Exhaust, single to Y-Pipe with 3” Tips …quite at idle, drone at 55-65 MPH, but BEAUTIFUL at full song…better than any 2.5 exhaust I’ve heard (I’ve had 10+ combinations on this car) Suspension + Brakes 8/10 This car is not far off from out-handling the best. Summer tires +Bigger rims would finish the job! -H&R Cup Kit at 82k Miles, VW Dealer Installed ($1000) -H&R 20 mm Spacers all around ($250) -Front Tires: 70% Rear Tires: 40% -ECS 26mm front & 23mm rear sway bars ($650) -ABS/Traction/Power Steering Lights are on…when H&R parts were installed, this threw the lights. VW pointed to a broken sensor bracket within the ball joint assembly on the front driver-side. Estimate to fix from VW is $453 (so take $100 off using a local shop) -Drivers side front control arm is slightly bent from hitting a curb (this caused the above bracket to break, and tripped the sensors above during the suspension install when the suspension was re-assembled) You can see this difference in the pictures. I had an alignment done at 84k miles, and there is only a VERY slight pull in the steering wheel…NO vibrations or shimmys whatsoever at high speeds. -Pads are “Red Stuff” replaced at 55k miles (I drive a lot of highway) Rotors are original…brakes straight, fast and quiet, but would give the existing rotors another 10k miles before you either resurface or upgrade them. Exterior 4/10 This is by far the worst part of this car. Most body panels have light scratches, door dings, bumper has stone chips ect….I’ve USED this car! The No Reserve price is really to reflect the condition of the body. -All body panels are original except passenger side front fender. It has a base coat and is vinyl wrapped (this was a quick fix). Fine from 20 ft…but would recommend a respray (the fender itself was bought new in 2010 and fine). -Short Antenna -Blacked Out Side Markers -The front bumper has a euro grill and notch fill piece. Also have the original grill. The lower driver side grill has been replaced with a ‘fog lamp’ grill to accommodate my ram air design. If you look at pictures, you will see that both sides of the bumper where the fenders meet, have a bubbling…this is NOT rust, but a trim piece & adhesive to hold up the bumper ends.. Unfortunately, too many parking curbs broke off the wimpy plastic clip brackets on both sides and this was the easiest solution. Bumper is ATTACHED and nothing to worry about…just somewhat unsightly and easily fixable. -Same story on driver’s side near rear bumper…light scuff covered by vinyl. -Lower Rear Bumper has cutouts for the ’dual’ exhaust…good from 5 ft but not perfect -Also has a tow bar installed and comes with ball/hitch (never used) ($300) -Inner wheel well plasic missing from front passenger side and drivers side. Also missing plastic belly pan. -One of the Magny Cors Wheels are curbed -Passenger side mirror cap/mirror was replaced…cap is matte black and mirror works, but the glass was installed improperly and doesn’t zoom in really close to the car (not a big deal, makes a perfect blind spot mirror) -New GTI style Headlamps Interior 7/10 -No rips or tears in seats/headliner/or anywhere else…just normal wear and tear -Gorilla Rear Mat -Volkswagen front mats, do not have rear mats -Shortened shift knob, boot is in fair shape -Center rear passenger seatbelt is missing -iPod interface plugin for radio (dealer installed) -Heated Seats -Driver seat has some coffee stains -Overall it is clean, with a few dog hairs/scuffs/ect. Just vaccumed and shampooed to best of my ability -Have the spare (was used once) but the toolkit is gone..I do have 2 wheel keys, the most important part of the whole kit as we modern VW owners know J I’ve included as much info as possible….this car is a lot of fun and reliability for not a lot of $$$. I have bought and sold lots of stuff on ebay and prefer to be as honest as possible with details and pictures. Wish I didn’t have to sell but I have too many cars! No warranties expressed or implied.
